One of the original Magic Kingdom rides, If You Had Wings is OLD. The ride is a carefree romp around the world with mostly video screens for the effects. The theme song is really repetitive but it really grew on me. The song does have hypnotic qualities. Love the big Earth globe at the beginning. R.I.P.
I've been going to WDW since the 70's. My family and I always visited Tomorrow Land as the last area before going home. Everyone really enjoyed this. I remember the chairs looking like an outerspace egg. Because of this ride, I developed a love for travel and eventually became a travel agent for Disney!!
This is the best old Tomorrowland ride I love!!! It has theming just like Space Mountain has. The music camed from everything in space. It could be quite done, but it's replaced by Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
I really enjoyed this attraction, but have not thought about it once since it has left. It was good for its time, but I am glad we have moved on.
Ohhhhhhhh My------ I can still hear that song-- If you had wings ,If you had wings--- ringing in my memory. A truley unique ride for its time. It was sponsered by EASTERN AIRLINES!!!! As a former Flight Attendant for the airline it had a special place for me. This was a great ride for its time, it took you through a few countries and gave you a taste and flavor of each as you passed by in you moving vehicle. Just as if you were visiting. The end of the ride was especilally amazing, as you did feel like you were flying and had wings. soaring into the sky with the vision of clouds around you!!! It was also a fast moving line and always a good place to cool off on a hot summer's day.... I miss "MY" wings----- :(
This was basically a trip around the world as "if we had wings". By the end, our vehicles tilt back to dramatic music, wind gusts, and we feel as if we're truly flying.
