This summer, Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge have been graced with the arrival of four Hartmann's mountain zebra foals. These striped newcomers, each with their own unique personalities, are now part of the diverse zebra family at Walt Disney World.
Meet the New Zebra Foals
Aziza and Her Newborn: Aziza, a second-time mom, welcomed a healthy baby boy on July 16. The pair is currently bonding backstage, preparing for their debut at the Harambe Wildlife Reserve.
Asha's First Foal: On July 8, first-time mom Asha gave birth to a lively baby boy. This curious foal was nursing and exploring his surroundings within hours.
Juno and Cada: Juno, another experienced mom, gave birth to a baby girl named Cada. With unique markings and an energetic demeanor, Cada is already making her presence known alongside her mother and big sister, Cricket.
Penne's Arrival: The eldest of the new foals, Penne, was born on June 13 at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Weighing nearly 100 pounds at birth, Penne quickly began exploring under the watchful eye of her mother, Heidi.
The birth of these foals is a significant step for the conservation of the Hartmann's mountain zebra, a species currently listed as vulnerable. Through the Species Survival Plan, Disney's Animal Kingdom contributes to responsible breeding and genetic diversity, aiding in the preservation of this species.
