Guests Queuing to See Bakso
Posted: Tuesday February 11, 2025 9:20am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Bakso, the rare Sumatran tiger cub, is now the most in-demand attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The young tiger has been drawing record-breaking crowds to the Maharajah Jungle Trek, with wait times in the morning reaching up to two hours—longer than any ride in the park.

Here's what you need to know to improve your chances of seeing Bakso.

Bakso Viewing Process & Queue Details

  • Maharajah Jungle Trek opens at 9 am., but Animal Kingdom opens at 8 am. Guests start lining up in Asia as soon as they enter the park.
  • The queue wraps through the land, looping around Gibbon Island as guests wait for the trail to open.
  • At opening, the usual Jungle Trek queue is reversed, with guests entering through the usual exit and winding through the entire trail before reaching the tiger viewing area.
  • Later in the day, around 12:30 pm, the queue reverts to the standard entrance. Guests then enter normally and head straight to the tiger viewing area.

These procedures have been in place for the past few days but are subject to change at any time. Check with Cast Members for the latest updates.

Best Time to See Bakso

Bakso's schedule is unpredictable, and there's no guarantee he'll be visible when you arrive. He's still adjusting to his habitat and may retreat backstage at times.

For the easiest way to see Bakso, we recommend waiting until after 1 pm when the initial rush dies down and the queue operates as usual. Another advantage of the later viewing time is that the glass windows that overlook the tiger's area are free of condensation later in the day.

If you're hoping to see Bakso, pack your patience—he's already become one of the most popular attractions in Animal Kingdom.

Wait. People actually want to do the animal walk throughs? 🐯🐅 If you listen to park commandos, there are not enough attractions in AK, making it the worst of the four parks. Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just repeating a common "complaint."

Really that’s interesting I did not know that

Not sure where the surprise by the amount of attention is coming from. When the twins were born in 2017, crowds were huge. Then again, that was the 1st tiger birth ever at AK, but still. This was just the 2nd and it took 7 years for it to happen. The amount of attention and large crowds is expected and very much warranted.

I am very pleasantly surprised by the attention this has gotten I was thinking yesterday about how he will come out and no one will care meanwhile I’ve been reading about him in the parks blog for months I did not have time to watch the videos sadly

No I hear that… Its shocking it took 200 years for enough people to say “oh crap…we’ve almost killed them all…let’s get some in zoos” Abusive animals…we are

For me, at least, it depresses me that so many of these types of animals are endangered/threatened and can’t live freely in the wild in their natural habitats because of human action. That’s sad. Petting zoos, on the other hand, are fine 😉

Cute little stinker… I will never understand those that can’t appreciate a zoo…not only from the research side…but animals have an innocence that should make all humans jealous This combined with the panda coverage in DC makes it a good week
