Monsters Inc. Coaster Concept Model Track Layout

Walt Disney Imagineering is showing off a new concept model that details the track layout of the upcoming Monsters, Inc. rollercoaster coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.

In describing the new Monsters, Inc. land, Disney says that it will pick up after the events of Pixar Animation Studios' film, where humans have now been invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc. — and the monsters need laughter to power the city and keep it running smoothly. But it's not a true visit without the factory itself. You'll be able to see the sights, hear the laughs and zoom through the building just like James P. Sullivan (a.k.a. Sulley) and Mike Wazowski — via a door.

You'll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. The coaster will put you right in the middle of the monster action.

Work on the project is slated to begin in 2025, although Disney has yet to announce where the new land will be located in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Two possible locations appear possible, with the most likely being in the existing Animation Courtyard and into backstage areas. Another option exists in the Grand Avenue and Muppets area.

My guess is that this closure was relatively unexpected so there wasn’t time for merch teams to get things produced. It usually takes at least a year to get designs approved and merch produced. If it really was up in the air between Muppets and Launch Bay, I can’t imagine the merch teams had enough time to produce anything

beyond the specific location, kind of interesting they haven't been selling any "Goodbye Muppet*Vision" merch

In a just world Stage One would have been open for years instead of just leaving it closed while making all of the Muppet merch WDI exclusive…

In a just world they'd use Stage One for Muppet-Vision Goodbye merch.

Interesting that this merch event is happening at Stage One. Could this be why the rumored walls never went up in March?

Here's a non-blurry image of "Muppet Jim" in the rafters overlooking his final creation

No no no no no. Sully is throwing a party for Mike Wazowski and worried it won’t be perfect. We travel through the factory searching for decorations, a cake, and a monster band only to learn at the end of the ride that all Mike needs is us, his dear friends.

Came across this comment while viewing one of my favorite YouTube channels…. Puts things in perspective regarding the closing of MuppetVision 3D.

It appeared (to me at least) Grand Ave is untouched in the concept art and it's only once you pass the bench brick wall area it becomes monstropolis. Which makes sense to me as it's not to out of place and Grand Ave blends in better compared to Star Tours. Honestly part of me hopes they take out star tours and make that Monsters Univ area/ride.

I don't know why it would. Although if not razed, it could just as easily be rethemed.
