Walt Disney Imagineering is showing off a new concept model that details the track layout of the upcoming Monsters, Inc. rollercoaster coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.

In describing the new Monsters, Inc. land, Disney says that it will pick up after the events of Pixar Animation Studios' film, where humans have now been invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc. — and the monsters need laughter to power the city and keep it running smoothly. But it's not a true visit without the factory itself. You'll be able to see the sights, hear the laughs and zoom through the building just like James P. Sullivan (a.k.a. Sulley) and Mike Wazowski — via a door.

You'll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. The coaster will put you right in the middle of the monster action.

Work on the project is slated to begin in 2025, although Disney has yet to announce where the new land will be located in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Two possible locations appear possible, with the most likely being in the existing Animation Courtyard and into backstage areas. Another option exists in the Grand Avenue and Muppets area.

The seats can turn. What are they turning to look at… screens? With all the new promotional material Disney has dumped regarding the upcoming WDW changes, do we have anything at all about the “show” that is replacing Muppets and, on a reasonable timeline, should be open in late 2026 or very early 2027?

F.L.Y. But zooming around maleficent would be INCREDIBLE.

I'm all for an actual thrilling coaster at Disney.

I can't get there with this project. The more they show, the more it feels like Dragonflier at Dollywood. It's a family invert inside a warehouse

Thrill and "scare" level for the Villains Land attractions will be really interesting. I wonder if they go pretty "extreme" (well at least for Disney) for the coaster since that will have a height requirement anyway, so to appease people look for that but then a bit tamer/more humor elements with the dark ride so at least part of it has more family friendly - but not forcing the entirety of the land to be for everyone in the family

I have lots of good vibes about this project, and think it will be incredible. And yknow what, if any project had to replace MV3D, im glad it’s this one. With the lifting out of station, spinning cars, and “Boost zone” talk from the reveal, while its very early, I have similar “throwing every ‘magic trick’ that we can in” vibes for this coaster that muppetvision has. Worthy replacement.

I think this is the one project the more they announce, the more excited I get. Aside from losing Muppets, of course

I would 100% be down. I don't know if it would happen, but i would be thrilled. Do you know if the villains coaster is derived from the old “dragons tower” from beastly kingdom? Vibes i get from the inclusion of male face t in the concept art.

    Perhaps for Villains?!?!

Slinky Dog Dash level has to be the thrill level goal I would think.

I would want that. Even give me FLY from Phantasialand for this coaster.

Totally agree. Disney ain’t building the next velocicoaster! 😂. I’m sure some would love that though.

I agree theme wise its going to be good. Coaster wise I'm not expecting much in terms of thrill at all.
