Disney's Typhoon Lagoon reopening delayed due to low temperatures

Disney Typhoon Lagoon water park will not reopen as planned today due to low temperatures in the area.

Disney had previously announced that Typhoon Lagoon would reopen March 19, but that has now moved to March 21. Temperatures today are in the 50s, rising to a high of 66F later in the day.

The Walt Disney World water park has been closed for its seasonal refurbishment over the winter months, leaving Blizzard Beach as the only operating water park. With the opening of Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach will close.

    The Typhoon Lagoon reopening date has been pushed one more day to Tuesday, March 21, due to low temperatures.

    According to the Walt Disney World website, it appears the Typhoon Lagoon reopening on Sunday, March 19th may be delayed. The hours have been removed as the weather forecast for Sunday is unfavorable. Hours are currently still shown for Monday.

    I would say the vast majority of people do not view the water parks as full-on theme parks. I know that Universal has marketed Volcano Bay as their third "park", since opening, but on the other hand Disney has never marketed their water parks as "theme parks".

    Just realized that the gap between Universal and Disney will be greatly diminished in 2025 if they keep rotating which water park is open. 5 WDW Parks to Universal's 4.

    It has being reported elsewhere that Cast Members have been notified Typoon Lagoon will reopen on March 12.

    Yes every year, traditionally one goes down Oct-Dec and the other Jan-March with both open March-Oct.
