The refurbishment of the Flame Tree Barbecue at Disney's Animal Kingdom has once again been extended.

Originally planned to open in April 2015 - and then several other later dates, the refurbishment is now set to be complete on June 29, reopening to guests on July 1 2015.

Following its closure on January 5 2015, the remodel is expected to bring a number of improvements to the restaurants outdoor seating area. More covered areas will be installed, including covering the walkways between the seating areas. The ordering area will also see an expansion of its roof, covering guests placing orders.

During the closure, some of the menu items will be available at kiosks throughout the park.

We were just there last week and the new seating area was wonderful. Though we had the place to ourselves for the most part. They were predicting scattered thundershowers and the park was practically empty. Sadly though most of the uncovered areas are not usable due to the aforementioned birds. We were heading toward a nice quiet spot near a pond but when we saw all the tables and chairs covered in droppings we settled on a spot away from the trees. I would highly recommend not sitting at any table under a tree when eating there, no matter how nice it might look.

There is a lot of hand crafted details work, and it was done on a very low priority.

Looks good and well themed but I absolutely cannot believe it took so long to build that. I just don't understand.

We just ate there after Thanksgiving and it was still difficult to find a spot for a party of 7... thankfully a CM pointed out the new seating to use and we were able to find two tables side-by-side that we used...

I was going to say the same thing! CMs used to beg guests to stop feeding the birds, and guests would become angry, sometimes reporting the CM. As a result, the birds are now conditioned to come for food. Guests need to realize there is usually a reason for a request, even if you can't understand why.

The area look GORGEOUS! Took ENTIRELY too long to build, but love the results. The lit "windsocks" at night are great.

If other guests had stopped feeding the wildlife years and years ago the birds would never be as tame and wanting for food.

It was open when I was there on 11/22. Now if they could do something about the dang birds. My wife, son and I were eating under a tree on the waters edge. Our desserts were nicely lined up , two chocolate mousse bookending a slice of key lime pie. A bird up in the tree fecally strafes the desserts with precision of an F-18 pilot. His buddies line up on the railing thinking we were going to throw the desserts out and offered to take them off our hands. I exchanged them for new desserts only after the CM at the counter composed herself from a fit of laughter.

It's a lovely Gazebo...but I have seen a full hotel built from the ground up , furnished and opened in less time than it took to build this...lol
