Spaceship Earth Lounge Construction Walls

Construction walls are now in place alongside Spaceship Earth's Project Tomorrow post-show area as work progresses on the entrance to the upcoming Spaceship Earth Lounge. The construction zone is located on the side opposite Guest Relations.

Inside Project Tomorrow—the post-show experience at Spaceship Earth—the usual exit pathway is blocked. All guests exiting the attraction must now use the side leading toward the World Nature neighborhood.

Disney has announced that the new lounge, inspired by the iconic design of Spaceship Earth, will open its doors in late spring 2025, just before summer. The lounge will occupy the former corporate lounge space that overlooks the World Celebration area.

The design of the new lounge will reflect the geometric sphere's inspiration, featuring rich textures and warm metallic tones. Disney describes the space as a relaxing area for families to gather and enjoy refreshments, with an ambiance aimed at providing a blend of mystery and elegance.

They've already overused SSE's tiles in this "revamp", so... why not beat the dead horse some more and use it in the lounge? "THEME!!! SYNERGY!!! See?? We get it!!"

I expect it to be a modern space that is basically a tribute to the concept/shape of a geodesic sphere. Lighting/flooring using the shape and pattern. Maybe we get some historic construction photos ala Steakhouse '71, but that could throw off the futuristic theme a bit if overdone. I hope for some fun surprises and nods to classic Epcot beyond this, but keeping my expectations low. I am hopeful that crowds wont be insane after the initial rush. Not letting in under 21s will severely limit audience. and not sure locals want to sit in there and pay for more than a drink or 2 at those prices over and over - particularly if the theming is fairly basic. What they decide to use for music could be interesting.

I agree with that entirely...Given the location, the rich history of the park ...it should be spectacular... Well...So should Communicore Hall.

I am very much the target demographic for this. I actually don't think it's a bad idea for EPCOT. It's more the CommuniCore hall issue. It's a mid-Marriott lounge. And, I sadly expect the drinks to align. It's just way too generic where any type of improved story and detail (vintage EPCOT, very futuristic design, vintage SSE, anything) would have been a must do. It just feels kinda temporary or like an afterthought. I really wish it was Epcot's Nomad instead of Epcot's generic lobby bar.

It already was a lounge so Disney is just making it available for everyone to visit. Now if you wanna complain about the lack of theming go right ahead.

It's a small space that has limited access points... so there's not much they could do here. If they made it just a "first come, first serve" public lounge area it'd be chaos with all the locals/vloggers making it their home base. I'm all for these sorts of experiences in the parks. I do wish they could make more indoor areas for the purpose of taking a break with A/C & complimentary water though.

I don't know. I'm not an Imagineer. But it seems like the only option for Disney for an unused space this size now is a lounge. And it will most likely be, thematically speaking, an underwhelming lounge like the others that have been added in the last few years. I am shocked that they didn't make it another DVC lounge, but I'm sure they'll make up for it with uber-expensive food and drink sold there.

I don't think that's the issue, I think the issue is probably spending money to do this after cancelling all the other projects they have (just a guess on my part). For me, this is an "eh, whatever". I mean, they have fully embraced drinking at Epcot and cut the education stuff a long time ago, and with how popular Space 220 is, I get it. Though I do not like the name having numbers in it too (not sure why that is bugging me). We will see how it turns out.

I’m confused. What do you think should be done with this space if not a lounge?

As a much bigger cocktail nerd than a human should be... you are both correct and still safe. The old fashioneds that have gone MORE than mainstream are all based on the original believed to be from Louisville - and very much popularized in NY, ATL, etc. in the last 10-15 years. (With lost of lovely rifs, such as really wonderful rum and mezcal-based versions...) Your sugar cube doused in bitters, under a decently paired bourbon plus orange peel. The WI Old Fashioned is still a fairly rare find. Most really good craft cocktail bars can make one if you order it, but I haven't seen that recipe make it into any of the main stream yet - despite brandy having a moment a few years ago. The corn old fashioned at Cava del Tequila is interesting, though ongodly overpriced. Have plenty of other places to send you here in Orlando should you want something interesting... haha

I guess old fashioned's (a born and bred WI staple) have gone mainstream now. Huh. Who knew?

I'm all in. I order them from Bonefish Grill. Really good.
