Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort in Walt Disney World will now be closed for a six-month refurbishment in 2025.

The refurbishment was originally planned to take place from January 2025 through May 2025, but Disney now says that the closure will last through June 2025.

Stormalong Bay is a 3-acre pool area, featuring one of the highest hotel waterslides at Walt Disney World Resort. A lazy river, 3 whirlpool spas, 2 kiddie pools, and an elevated tanning deck complete the area.

The routine refurbishment will include Stormalong Bay and the Shipwreck.

Disney is advising guests that they will continue to be able to use the Tidal, Admiral, and Dune Cove leisure pools.

More sand is being added to the lazy river and connected pool. The hot tubs are mostly filled.

Yes, the one with the most sand (where kids can make sand castles) is largely done. There was some unexpected plumbing work with this project but it should certainly reopen by June 30.

I saw water in the pool today on a different site.

The "news" site reports that they have started filling the pools with water.

I believe they have a special filtration setup that would cost money to replace, and of course taking away the sand would make the pool less unique too. I don’t know as though they’d ever want to get rid of it.

I'm just happy they're keeping th sand! I thought for sure that would be gone.

I am happy and relieved they are keeping the 8 foot depth pool.

I am surprised they are keeping the 8 foot depth pool.

Concrete for the pool. Shocked that it's being handled so low-key with the cement trucks going in and out of IG. Knowing Disney you'd expect them to have an army of Security CM shielding guests from the construction equipment.

    Yep, lots of sand bags.

Are those big bags full of new, fresh, clean sand? How exciting! Thanks for the visuals!!
