Following a temporary closure due to the impact of Hurricane Milton, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are set to welcome guests back starting Sunday, October 13—a day earlier than initially anticipated.

Initially, Disney advised guests that both Fort Wilderness and the Treehouse Villas would remain closed through October 13, but thanks to faster-than-expected recovery efforts, the resorts will now reopen tomorrow, bringing an early return to operations.

With these resort reopenings, all of Disney's closures related to Hurricane Milton have officially come to an end, signaling a full return to normal operations at Walt Disney World.

Just realized I didn't check in yesterday. Seems I was so distracted I didn't even come check in on the post period. Power was still out yesterday morning so as I was heading passed 36 hours out I decided to run out and see if I could find a cooler and ice (for whatever reason I don't own a cooler here they're all in Maryland) managed to grab a small (28qt) one at Walmart and the last bag of ice at one of the truck stops. I had only really planned to maybe put a carton of milk or something in it but the Walmart was also out of most of the refrigerated stuff since they lost it all. Even though I had been out for so long though I managed to luck out that the milk in my fridge that hadn't been opened yet hadn't spoiled, just tasted and felt like a glass I may be left out for the evening. I guess a benefit of lactose-free being ultra pasteurized 😂. I also had checked my freezer drawer and it was still solid so I was saved there. Running out took a little while just because the Walmart had just reopened so everybody was going and then the truck stop had lines to get into it but I finally got home and cleaned up a little bit. Power ended up coming back on just before 3:00 p.m. so I got some work in and went ahead and ran and got a window AC unit and got it all set up before bed. Even just the one unit placed in a central location in the house is definitely making a difference and everything's more comfortable. The central air still has about 9.5 in on it as it doesn't seem to have receded much today. Not sure if I mentioned it on here yet but I did hear from the AC company yesterday and they said all the electrical is on the top half so hopefully the unit actually is spared but leaving it off until the water recedes and they can come double check. Hoping if anything I just need to let the ducts dry out or something.

Disagree. Strongly. Times of high stress, even disaster, are times when people need the release of humor the most. Nothing wrong at all with people on a Disney fan forum making some jokes and blowing off some steam.

Got a welcome email out of the blue today, Southwest is gifting me a $200 voucher for my troubles. This despite the fact that I: -Booked a new flight on points and got out before the storm -Canceled my old flight and got that cost refunded -Didn’t complain or ask for anything -This was clearly a weather delay Sometimes it pays to not be the squeaky wheel I guess.

m all of those canvas billboards were purposely sliced Tuesday morning, the hurricane still shredded it further but part of that was by design to protect the sign.

With Typhoon Lagoon closing in just 3 weeks on November 3, for its annual refurbishment I would expect landscape damage will be addressed and new plantings installed before it reopens in Spring 2025. Does not make much sense to try and work around guests at this point. And the landscape team at Blizzard Beach still has three weeks to address any last minute major tree removal / replacement before its annual reopening. One thing that Disney still does (that STILL amazes me) is how they can literally create a forest in a field in what almost feels like an over night effort.

S SAME! Delay cars for MK and just move those plans over to DHS in another few years.

Interesting Disney posts a picture of the old style cabins and not poor excuse for the cabins they are now installing

I think the hurricane gods are trying to give us a sign (and take one away)

I wonder if the smaller area with big damage was the result of a tornado. I was in Vero Beach yesterday. Most of the area was just minor damage and debris from some broken branches and palm fronds. Then, I found myself going through two areas where tornadoes had gone through and it looked like a bomb was dropped. Trees with 4 foot diameter trunks snapped, metal roofs torn off and mangled in trees across the street, concrete utility poles toppled and broken, etc. Then, a few blocks later back to minor damage. I didn't take pictures because I didn't feel the need to photograph people's misery. I remember when I had a palm tree fall onto my roof in Hurricane Irma that it would upset me when people would stop and take pictures of the damage while I was cleaning up debris. Thankfully, even the badly damaged houses looked repairable for the most part. I did see a few destroyed manufactured homes on the west coast of lake Okeechobee. I assume the residents heeded the warnings and evacuated because I don't see how they could have survived and I haven't heard of fatalities from the area where I saw them. For future storms, I do hope that anybody in a manufactured home heeds the warnings and goes to a shelter even if they aren't in the direct path of the storm due to the tornado risk.

After I got home from work, I started to pack my things and was about to head to a hotel for the weekend. As we were getting ready leave, our power was restored! Our internet is still out, though.

It’s interesting how 2 videos showing (essentially) the same thing can create completely different impressions… watching this 30 second tictok you’d think Celebration got slammed, I just watched a youtube video where they spend half an hour riding a golf cart around Celebration to show the damage and with an extra 29 minutes showing only minor damage, small debris, plus a minute devoted to showing the same couple big trees down (as seen in the tictok) my takeaway was that Celebration came out relatively unscathed. Neither was dishonest, but by just highlighting the worst damage, compared to showing the overall damage, they leave completely different perceptions.
