Disney Vacation Club has revealed new details about the Island Tower, set to welcome guests in December 2024 at Disney's Polynesian Resort in Walt Disney World.

Wailulu Bar & Grill

A highlight of the new tower is the Wailulu Bar & Grill, designed to immerse guests in the natural beauty of the islands. The restaurant features banquette seating surrounded by flowing water, creating a serene dining atmosphere. The lava rock-inspired bar offers guests stunning views of Seven Seas Lagoon and, beyond that, the iconic Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. The Wailulu Bar & Grill caters to all-day dining needs with an on-the-go breakfast menu and a full lunch and dinner selection.

The center of the dining room will showcase an abstract Polynesian Stick Chart, an ancient navigation tool used to traverse the seas. Moana, will be featured in a painting on display in Wailulu Bar & Grill.

For those looking to unwind poolside, the walk-up pool bar and grill will offer a convenient option to grab a bite or a refreshing drink.

Cove Pool and Fitness Center

The Island Tower addition will also feature a new fitness center and pool area designed to offer both relaxation and fun. The Cove Pool, a centerpiece of the courtyard, is surrounded by a sandy beach area and includes a whirlpool spa, all offering picturesque views of the Seven Seas Lagoon. This area is designed to be a haven for guests seeking a peaceful retreat while enjoying the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Moana's Voyage Splash Area

For younger guests, the Moana's Voyage splash area brings an element of adventure. This interactive space is themed around Moana and her iconic outrigger canoe. The splash area features a figure of Moana and includes various water elements that promise to keep children entertained while staying true to the Polynesian theme of the resort.

The new Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is set to open on December 17, 2024, and reservations are now open for all guests.

Pricing during the opening week for arrival on December 18, range from $826 per night for the Duo Studio with a Standard View to $5,016 per night for the 2 Bedroom Penthouse with a Theme Park View.  Note that discounts may be available for Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Florida Residents.

I can’t comment on what plans may have evolved into, but IIRC the blueprint/plans did have a walkway in front of the building, but it was literally building-walkway-shoreline with no other land in between. I think further towards the Wedding Pavilion the plans also showed an expanded shoreline to accommodate the walkway… Addendum - the plan:

The name has always made me laugh. In the UK the word reserve means substitute. “The manager named the team and also named two travelling reserves”. So the name Swan Reserve implies it’s the backup option when the Swan is full! Probably not the best image they want to give. 😂😂 I realise it’s being used to imply a more exclusive option. The language barrier still exists though, and first impressions count.

Very True! 💯 BTW the view of Swan Reserve between Swan and Dolphin I rather they called it Cove because nothing Swan about it except oh price range it's even higher. To me Swan Reserve is like being the Aventura of of Disney.

Sounds like an interesting thread topic!

Between this, the Cabins, the Contemporary retheme, and the Riviera, is this the worst era in hotel/DVC construction in Disney’s history?

You can only really see more than the tiniest bit of the roofline if you’re at the dock or on the beach. You can’t see much of it from within the longhouse enclave. Honestly, I think the fence around the lava pool and the changes to the lobby were ultimately far more disruptive to the ambiance than this if only because it’s off on its own.

Off to the left is that the original Poly OMG what an eye soar it's ruined the whole Polynesian ambiance. Glad I got to stay when it was really special in 1977
