In a new update from Walt Disney Imagineering today, we get a sneak peek of the interactive splash pad in the Island Tower addition at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.

Moana's Voyage Splash Pad is a playful water area that captures the spirit of adventure seen in Disney's Moana. Themed around the iconic journey of the fearless heroine, the splash area is centered around a figure of Moana and her famous outrigger canoe, surrounded by various water elements.

The new Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is set to open on December 17, 2024, and reservations are now open for all guests.

Pricing during the opening week for arrival on December 18, range from $826 per night for the Duo Studio with a Standard View to $5,016 per night for the 2 Bedroom Penthouse with a Theme Park View.  Note that discounts may be available for Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Florida Residents.

Beyond the fact that this will be roped off within a month of use due to the safety issues of kids climbing up the mast of the boat. I am more shocked at the building itself in the background. Man, they are not trying anymore, are they? Really basic and uninspired design. Shockingly boring

This feels like Art of Animation at Deluxe resort pricing. But then, that's also kind of how I feel about the Poly room refreshes, too.

Disney has shared a closer view of the splash pad area, with a look at the Moana figure recently installed:

They could at least have used the same colors

It did replace about half of the cabanas I think. And what I was saying is the Coronado tower is *less* jarring than the Poly tower. Before the tower, all of Poly had a single distinctive design. So the tower sticks out so much more because everything else is the same, and it’s so different. With the Coronado, the resort was already an amalgamation of a bunch of different styles, so the new tower there can still fit in even though it doesn’t exactly match anything that was there before.

really? it's jarring how it's perfect knit placed in within it's location that you'd feel as a first timer that it was always there with the rest of the resort that it all was all built altogether when it was not. I was actually wondering if it replaced some cabanas much similar to Riviera replaced some of Carribbean Beach.. what was there before?

Exactly! What's really beautiful about it is if you wanted say photographs with or of the original resort you can with the environment. The Poly Tower is plopped to the side but that's only due to the views that it wants to grapple of direct views to Magic Kingdom.

Not to mention that the resort already has a bunch of different styles going on. It was split into three sections originally with the Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas. And now there’s 4 sections with the tower. The tower is definitely still the odd man out, but I think it’s less jarring because the rest of the resort isn’t all the same anyway.

We stayed at Coronado last time we went and the reason I think Gran Destino works despite being different appearance wise than the other buildings has a lot to do with the way the resort itself is laid out and where exactly it got put. The resort's just so big and spread out that it just kinda ends up occupying its own little space.

I agree. The lack of integration and connection between the existing resorts and these new towers is the most frustrating part. I think that's why the feel so displaced. Older projects like Kidani, BCV, VWL (arguably both phases), and VGF all blend in well enough. They have their issues, but the feel like part of a collective, cohesive resort. Swan Reserve, Riviera and Poly are a big departure from this. Gran Destino is an odd duck to me in that it also is in that category. But, it also created an iconic central structure of the resort (which works in a way, albeit not perfectly). It's in line with a lot of decisions to simply not care that much about fit/consistency/sightlines. But, "people don't care" doesn't make the issue any better.

Elvis wouldn't approve but then again Disney co would of made him stuck and frozen for the implementing stitch, but wait it's Moana so nevermind!"""" 🥥 🌴.

I don't think they are considering any nod to the original Poly at all...they clearly did just about everything they could to make it NOT feel part of the resort everyone loves....Which is the most baffling thing. and the Poly is generally more expensive than the other MK resorts.....

I still think a large fountain area with lots of exotic plants and flowers would be a nice nod to the original Poly lobby.
