Yes there could be. But they also don’t have to wait for 60 day mark to predict breakage. Which I’d guess is at least a small amount of breakage across all DVC, and more with the least popular DVC point picks at the largest resorts. Beach Club is 3m points total, BW 5m, Bay Lake almost 6m, OKW and AKV about 7m each, and 14m at SSR. So Board Walk is likely to see more cash inventory than Beach Club villas due to size.

Good info - appreciate the share. So is this to say that at 60 day mark there could be a temp bump in inventory, if avail?

DVC/DVD has to keep 2%. There’s undeclared inventory from new resorts. There’s also points exchanged for cruises, rci, II, and other things that end up converting to cash inventory. I think these points can be used to book anything at 7 months and 7-11 months depending what resort the points originated. Plus breakage - DVD can sell for cash anything open in the last 60 day window and they’re actually allowed to predict to an extent, so they don’t need to wait until 60 days prior. They know things like 1BR at SSR and OKW will end up unused. Even in cases where they approach nearly booked up, a certain amount of reservations will reliably cancel/reschedule. It’s not limited to the most unpopular rooms though because a certain amount of people end up cancelling other rooms as well.

Yeah, this is BS - I wanted to book a 14 day stay for October or November. But the way the numbers roll it makes more sense for me to book Sunday-Thursday at WDW, roll over to USO for Friday-Saturday, then come back to WDW for another Sunday-Thursday. Or maybe even just roll offsite for those two nights.

Sad but true unless there is a cancellation

A very small number…the point of dvc is to lock people in for decades to come back…not to sell the rooms at a discount for 5 days to random people. Indeed. There’s about a million people under contract that have dibs. Leftovers? Sure. Wouldn’t be boardwalk or beach club at Christmas

Kingdom Konsultant16 hours ago

We always have to wait until after the inventory is opened to DVC owners and then they would open it to us to sell. They always had first dibs

Schweino16 hours ago

The years of them allocating some of the DVC rooms to the public no matter what DVC availability says would suggest that they were designed to be "sold" to a degree.

Sirwalterraleigh16 hours ago

Those are timeshares…they were never designed to be “sold” Also…prime real estate. You want cash at Saratoga? Have at it

My business hat says I get it - why sell at a discount *now* when you can keep some inventory at rack rate for a another 1-3 months and hopefully you sell some space. For me personally though, it's frustrating because if they do plan to open up some studios at BCV or BWV if they don't sell "X" amount of rooms at rack, I now have to check pretty much every day until we leave in December to see if I get lucky.

I can assure you, the shortage of rooms they have, is a shortage created by their own actions. If they think free park hopper on a rack rate room is going to move the needle...they are really huffing the pixie dust.

It’s on the customers at this point…to not fold like they did with “after hours” 🙄 Follow Nancy Reagan’s advice
