A new section of registers has opened today at Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Emporium, part of the store’s ongoing refurbishment.
Located at the Town Square end of the Emporium, this new area features a large bank of registers arranged in two rows, designed to streamline the checkout process and increase guest capacity.
The project’s goal is to centralize registers at just two main locations: one at the Town Square end (now open) and one at the end near Casey’s Corner. With the opening of the new area, the final phase of the remodel has begun, removing the registers from the central section of the store, which is now closed off behind construction walls.
Previously, the Emporium’s checkout counters were spread throughout various sections, but this updated setup aligns more closely with the model used at World of Disney in Disney Springs, where registers are concentrated at just a few key points at opposite ends of the store.
Guests can continue to shop throughout the open areas of the Emporium while construction wraps up on the central section. No end date for the project has been announced, but work appears to be in its final stages.
