Disney's Animal Kingdom is celebrating the birth of a pair of Sumatran tiger cubs - the very first in the park's history.

According to Dr Mark Penning, 'Vice President, Animals, Science and Environment, Disney Parks,' Sohni and her cubs are bonding well and will be out on the Maharajah Jungle Trek within the next several months.

Fewer than 500 Sumatran tigers exist in the wild, with the species critically endangered. These tiger cubs were bred by animal care experts at Disney's Animal Kingdom through the Species Survival Plan, which is overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

You can visit DisneyAnimals.com to learn more about tigers and how you can support them in the wild.

More tiger pictures from today. They are now almost six months old and about 50 lbs. They are growing quick but will still stick with their mom for at least 2 years. If you are visiting and want to see them it's still best to go early. Although they are staying on exihbit longer now they still don't spend all day out. Today they went in around 3pm.

Can't wait to see them when we go in late April. And thanks for the tip about morning. Although by then they may be out longer, I'm planning a morning trip (or two) just in case.

Here's the B-roll of the cubs in case you want to add a score of "Eye of the Tiger". http://wdwnews.com/videos/2017/12/14/b-roll-tiger-cubs-debut-at-disneys-animal-kingdom/

:jawdrop: Disney should have covered up the mother before allowing her to nurse her baby in public. Don’t they know there might be children present!!! j/k. :hilarious: They look so cute I can’t wait to see them next week. Just adorable!!!

Thank you for posting your photos @Rider. Their markings are beautiful! As you can tell, I don't post a lot but had to say something about your pics.

I got to see the cubs today! If you go just know that they are currently not out all day. Usually they will only be out in the morning and then go back in around noon. But when they are out they are super active and exploring their environment. They love to climb trees and run around (much to mom's grief) but they get tired out pretty quick and need to nap. 250712 250713 250714 250715 More images of them (in full size) on my Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/cchard/albums/72157661096657218

Guess I will have to wait until my February trip to see these two. Hopefully they won't be too grown up by then.
