Disney's Blizzard Beach water park closing as temperatures drop at Walt Disney World

UPDATE 1:30pm - Blizzard Beach is now closed for the day today (December 15) due to poor weather.

Disney's Blizzard Beach will be closed Friday, December 16, and Saturday December 17 2022, due to cooler temperatures arriving in Central Florida.

Weather forecasts put the highs at 65F and lows at 51F. The outlook for Sunday, December 17, is even colder, with a high of 61F and a low of 49F. The current operating schedule has not yet closed the park on Sunday.

Typhoon Lagoon is currently closed for refurbishment.

    They will typically have three options, 1) be deployed elsewhere 2) offered the day off w/pay 3) offered the day off w/o pay 2 will typically only happen if you can’t be deployed (ie a Hurricane) or if there’s no need

    I'd imagine so yes. Most people there are cast members who work in the shops/restaurants or do general guest service so those are fairly easy to relocate. Lifeguards are another story, I'd assume some get realocated to resort pools, and any that are experienced in general CM duties get reassigned elsewhere.

    Forgive me if this has been addressed before but what happens to the waterpark CMs during these cold weather closures? Do they get reassigned somewhere else for those shifts or what?

    Jeebus, it’s bad enough they are closing an entire park for the race. But they can’t even properly post that fact until less than two weeks before the date? The ineptitude just grows with every passing chance they have to demonstrate it.

    The schedule on January 8th has been updated and now shows Blizzard Beach as being closed.

    Somehow BB is still scheduled to open at 10am on January 8 even though all roads leading to it will be closed till 12/12:30 due to the marathon.
