The mystery surrounding a possible addition to Disney's Blizzard Beach water park continues this week as Walt Disney Imagineering files a permit for the park.
The permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, and assigned to Brilliant fabrication of Orlando, has the vague description of "Install show items." (Thanks to @danlb_2000 on the WDWMAGIC Forums)
Brilliant fabrication has worked on numerous projects around Walt Disney World in the past, and offers services including themed construction, scenic arts, sculpting and metalwork.
The most significant sign of an addition coming to Blizzard Beach is the setup of a large tower crane on the site with a reach of 365ft. The crane itself is currently being staged in the parking lot as groundwork is done to prepare for the installation of the crane.
Theories on the use of the tower crane include replacing the slides on Runoff Rapids and installing a brand new attraction.
Adding further support to all-new construction is the spotting of height balloons in 2021. Designers usually deploy balloons to gauge the visual intrusion of a new structure into existing sightlines before giving the green light for a new project.
Blizzard Beach is currently closed, with no reopening date yet announced. Typhoon Lagoon is presently operating as Walt Disney World's only water park.
