Magic Kingdom's World Famous Jungle Cruise is making a return earlier than anticipated, with updated operational hours now showing a reopening date of Wednesday, October 16, 2024—two days earlier than previously scheduled.

Originally, the attraction was set to be closed through October 17, reopening on October 18, according to the Walt Disney World refurbishment schedule. However, it appears that refurbishment efforts are progressing faster than expected, allowing for an earlier reopening.

Refurbishment Details

The current refurbishment involves routine maintenance, and recent Disney World refurbishment permits filed for the project included contractor Underwater Engineering Services, Inc. Although no major show changes are expected during this closure, it’s worth noting that the Jungle Cruise has not undergone a refurbishment since 2017, despite several updates to its show scenes in recent years.

I felt very sedimental seeing this closed. I’ve always taken it for granite that it’d be open, so I’ll be happy to see a boulder Adventureland later this year.

According to updated operational hours, it appears Jungle Cruise now reopens 2 days earlier on Wednesday, October 16:

It’s hot in Florida. Back in the ‘90s, it was a pleasant 82 degrees at 2 pm in July, not 95 like it is now. We can’t expect anyone to come to the parks in this heat so nothing to see here. I do know a couple outdoor Cars rides and removed water will help MK guests cool off nicely in 2028. It will complement TBA well now that you don’t really get wet on that.

Maybe Guardians is on the 5-year VQ plan? 🤷‍♂️ And you aren't the only one who wonders why it and Tron are both still using VQ. You misspelled "the parks are as busy as ever". Not sure why you'd lie and try to mislead people that the parks are slow right now or something... ;) :D

ToTBellHopAug 27, 2024

I think the presence of a VQ mitigates the impact of the closures. I’m sure they’ll keep the VQ until it’s more reliable. Honestly, TRON is a better option to open up the standby and pull guests across the park (especially once BTMRR goes down). We will see what they do, though. I never would’ve guessed Guardians would still have a VQ now.

Tracking the ride everyday (over in the VQ thread), I would say the uptime has either remained the same since opening/previews or slightly worse. Having a delayed opening is almost a guarantee now everyday. This can last anywhere from 30+ mins to a couple hours. An early close is like 70/30. And that would be like multiple hours. A mid-day breakdown and closure is pretty much a 50/50 now. This can last anywhere from an hour to multiple hours. And I exclude weather-related closures from this. But another thing I've noticed is that sometimes TBA has trouble reopening from a weather-closure. Like an hour or more than other outdoor rides like BTMR and 7DMT.

I dunno either. This forum has consistently been reporting on extended downtimes. I only bring it up in this thread because with JC under refurbishment and Tiana allegedly down (if reports are to be believed), they're going to have a capacity problem as guests shift to other attractions.

I don’t know what to tell you, man. All of my friends that work and have been there have said it’s been doing much better and have ridden it more than once a day and you’ve got someone else in this thread telling you the same thing. Does it go down once or twice or more a day? Yeah, it does. Went down today, and is down currently with about a dozen other rides across the resort. Rides go down every single day. They’re only reporting on Tiana’s because it’s new and had a rough opening but it’s up time has been vastly improved.

oh upgraded speaker and mic system so I can understand them!

JohnDAug 27, 2024

I'm suggesting you had a good experience while you were there and good for you but there are some who might have a little more knowledge about it long-term. And this could be a problem while JC is down affecting guest capacity on other rides.

Change the motor to electric and pipe in a less loud engine noise. So often I can't hear the Skipper from the back of the boat.
