Disney has filed the first construction permit for LEVEL99, confirming that work is set to begin soon at the former NBA Experience building at Disney Springs West Side.

The permit, submitted to Orange County, carries the description “General Construction/Demo” and has been assigned to Adena Corporation, a longtime contractor on Walt Disney World projects.

This follows the official February 2025 announcement that LEVEL99 would open its first Florida location and largest venue to date at Disney Springs.

LEVEL99 will take over the high-profile, 45,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by the NBA Experience, which has sat vacant since 2021. The interactive attraction will include:

  • 60+ physical and mental challenge rooms
  • Arena duels for head-to-head competition
  • A two-story bar serving craft cocktails and local beers
  • A chef-driven kitchen, including Level99’s signature Detroit-style pizza

The venue is designed to host up to 1,000 players at a time, combining team-based gameplay, immersive environments, and social dining.

While LEVEL99 has not yet announced an opening date for the Disney Springs location, the permit filing is the first visible step in converting the former NBA Experience into the new attraction. More updates are expected as construction progresses.

Well it is a tenant, not Disney owned.... So I would expect construction to go a little faster.... though that didn't help out the Cake Bake Shop....lol

I'm also wondering. All jokes aside, that this will open in 4-5 years, has anyone heard an opening date?

Wondering if my hopes for a late November opening is too ambitious? We arrive 12/6.

NBA Experience was definitely not something I would ever even think about going...but the reviews and pictures from when it first opened cemented it... LOL. I am glad to see it gone...I still think they could do something more with ot...More like the Meow Wolf interactive experiences that could be mind blowing and amazing....and they could even incorporate Disney Memes into the design.... That is something I think a lot of people would enjoy... They could even theme it to Cirque Du Soleil... So many options... Worst pick would have had to have been NBA

I haven't seen any outrage yet over the destruction of the much beloved 'NBA Experience'..... Hopefully someone posted some decent POV videos for posterity ! 🥹

What you talking about, Willis? Other than the one they built 28 years ago? I am always hopeful they will all finally get a job…but that’s just me

She definitely buried the hatchet several times during fights with her husbands.

Perhaps you would give Constance from the Haunted Mansion a run for her money...

That will be a factor of the brand. They have other experiences in Natick and Providence and are expanding to DS. So they have their own incentive to keep their brand fresh.

Same. By having "NBA" in the name, they immediately excluded a lot of guests. There's nothing in the Level 99 concept that immediately turns people away. One key thing here will be the need to update it. They failed to update Disney Quest frequently enough which contributed to its declining popularity. At a certain point, you need returning visitors.
