The new no-stop security scanners are now in operation at Magic Kingdom's main entrance, completing the roll-out to all four Walt Disney World theme parks.

Originally piloted in June at Disney Springs, the new scanners greatly reduce the need for bag checks and provide a much improved guest experience.

The scanners are now in use at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT main entrance, EPCOT International Gateway, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney Springs.

According to the manufacturer, Evolv Express is the first no-stop weapons-screening system built to automatically screen groups of people as they walk through without slowing or stopping. Express screens visitors individually or together, while automatically differentiating weapons from personal items. It is the fastest weapons-screening system on the market, consistently screening 60 people every minute for firearms and other threats. That’s 3,600 people per hour, or 10X faster than a traditional checkpoint system.

Check out the video below for a look at how the system works and its benefits over traditional metal detectors.

Sure. If you say so.

Or confirmation that theyre truly AI scanners and make decisions about threats

MagicHappens1971Feb 03, 2024

Agreed.

ToTBellHopFeb 03, 2024

Completely false. Disney has figured out how to take 100% of my money.

GimpYancIentFeb 03, 2024

Confirmation that nothing is100%.

The most annoying thing about these scanners is the inconsistency. I have hopped from MK to DHS with the exact same things in my bag and have set off the sensors at one park and not the other.

Had this happen to me in a way. Was holding out my umbrella, but left my backpack (loungefly so smaller one) on my front from taking stuff out. My arm wasn't/couldn't extend enough that the umbrella ding still put the box on my bag and I had to be searched....

LOL! That guard must really like going through people's bags.

The correct response is: But the voices in my head tell me I have to!!

ToTBellHopFeb 02, 2024

I had one security guard yell at me that I didn’t need to hold my bag out lol. I was like, “can I live?!?!”

Chip ChippersonFeb 02, 2024

Yep. A few guards had told me to hold my bag and glasses out while going through. The last one was the only one to tell me to hold my bag in one hand and my keys and glasses in the other because the scanner can make it seem like those objects are in my bag if I hold them all in 1 hand.

I always do the zombie-walk with bag and phone extended out in front of me. And I keep a lot of stuff in my bag. And there's sometimes a battery powered fan, or a battery pack, and two plastic bottles of water in it. Haven't been pulled over for extra inspection since.

I absolutely hate when I set off the scanners. Luckily, like you, I came across a guard who did a great job telling me what specifically triggered my bag to go off (I have a thick glasses case which the scanner can't completely see through) and they told me what to do to avoid being flagged (hold the glasses case in your hand and have your arm extended as you walk through). Every time I do this, you hear the beep of the scanner, the guard will look down at their screen, and see it was my extended glasses case (and nothing on my person) and let me keep on going through. Hopefully this advice will help others to avoid getting pulled aside for something silly every time.

Disney is still behind the security power curve. Not new tech or procedures.
