Bridge Connecting Main Street U.S.A. to Fantasyland Refurbishment - March 24, 2025

The bridge connecting Main Street U.S.A. to Fantasyland near Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café is currently under refurbishment at Magic Kingdom. A large section of the bridge is walled off, limiting guest flow through the area.

Despite the construction walls, the walkway remains open, allowing guests to move between the two lands. The entrance to the nearby Encanto meet-and-greet and the adjacent restrooms are also accessible.

Disney has not provided details on the scope of the work, but it is likely related to concrete replacement or other general maintenance. The timeline for completing the project has not been announced.

So the actual ride operators probably have to be there at the same time regardless to test the rides to make sure they are ready to go at 8:30am. However I'm thinking the following CMs would need to be there early now instead of like 10 mins before the park opens 1) CM at the front of the line (also the height checker on some rides) 2) CM at the merge point (I think DAS works during EE?) 3) CM that tells you what row to go into

Idk that’s a good question. The 8:30 staff were just attraction CMs anyway that walked you back to their respective rides, I kinda assumed they were there early anyway to get the attractions ready

I assume it's also more expensive for Disney? Seems like a lot more EE staff need to be "on" at 7:45am now instead of 8:30am. I agree though it seems better for the customer.

If temporary, that’d be a shame, I like this new approach

    PurduevianMar 25, 2025

Disney has not confirmed whether this adjustment is permanent or part of a temporary test. Guests planning to use Early Entry in the coming days should stay tuned for further changes. Yes, I was just saying on the podcast, Len was hinting that this change was the reason for the updated rope rope and that it should be temporary.

    PurduevianMar 25, 2025

Len indicated on his podcast that this was part of the reason for the new rope drop.

Almost all of Florida Spring Breaks are over. And a quick Google search seems to indicate most Spring Breaks are over but not all.

Obviously not, because that’s not how it works. This isn’t like a house where someone might hire a contractor who then tells them their availability. Disney issues an RFP to multiple contractors with the schedule before hiring one. Disney drives the schedule. They also have the Buena Vista Construction Company as a resource.

    👌

Again wrong - Disney won’t bend to one contractor’s schedule

    bmr1591Mar 24, 2025

I'm well aware of this, and whichever contractor they hired had an open time during this timeframe. It's the same reason attractions go down for refurbishment at unfortunate times. It's just how it works with the contractor's schedule.

If this is just pavement rework, they can hire a concrete or paving (if they do concrete flatwork) company. Based on the walls, this is a small scale job. These types of companies probably juggle 30-50 of these at a time depending on size. This type of work also doesn’t necessitate a GC, probably just a project manager under FAM or similar to monitor the one company doing the concrete work. Maybe there’s some minor electrical scope that you hire another company to do but it’d be something minor like fix conduit routing or something else. All that said, Disney probably does maintain a list of prequalified companies to do this type of work in the parks and it’s up to those prequalified companies to be able to fit the dates Disney wants into their own schedule
