Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World will close for refurbishment in early 2024.

The fan-favorite rollercoaster will close on January 8, 2024, and a Disney spokesperson has told WDWMAGIC that it will reopen in summer 2024. Disney has also confirmed that the closure is a routine refurbishment.

The ride has been experiencing extended downtimes in recent years, and a lengthy refurbishment in 2023 was expected to address those issues. However, since the 2023 refurbishment, reliability issues have persisted, and this refurbishment may be another attempt at a resolution.

The possibility of a retheme of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster lingers, although there are no plans that we are aware of. Speculation has surrounded Aerosmith's involvement with Rock 'n' Roller Coaster for years, and recent accusations against frontman Steve Tyler have intensified rumors of a replacement for the band.

The Muppets Mayhem creator Jeff Yorkes, co-creator, added weight to speculation that a Muppets Mayhem makeover may be coming to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Posting on Twitter in response to a June 2023 article discussing the rumor, Yorkes said, "Not gonna lie-- this was absolutely part of our original pitch and is another piece of this dream. Fingers-crossed that it happens." However, it was recently reported that The Muppets Mayhem has been canceled after only one season on the Disney+ streaming platform, making a Muppet retheme now seem unlikely.

Maybe the 0-60 is extrapolated?

All they’ve said is “summer” but I presume they wouldn’t have said that if they thought it would miss July 4. They have not specified a date, however.

Any ideas of a date yet. This site says maybe may 31st now reading earliest June 30th. I’m there first 2 weeks of jul so was hoping this would be open as it was 1 of the rides I was looking forward to the most

Trust RCDB, Duane knows his stuff.

In Wiki it states 0-57 in 2.8 sec but the cast member at launch bay let us know it was 0-60mph at 2.9 sec.

Is that stat for RnR launch real? Interesting.

ToTBellHop5 days ago

RnRC only reaches 57 mph because of the aforementioned egos of the five band members. Joe Perry takes 1 mph off all by himself.

Many will never ride or drive the new 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S, O-60 in 2.1 sec. The launch at RnR is 0-60 in 2.9 sec.

I thought we NEEDED to burn rubber to get to the concert on time!

I think the current problem is they changed the vendor they get the brakes from and the new ones are burning?

Chances of it being fixed in 1st 2 weeks of July? Coming from the UK so hoping i get Tiana Bayou and RNR timed right

Just standard maintenance along with some brake system work/rebuild. Literally nothing out of the ordinary. All coasters go through similar but smaller seasonal work. It's only remotely noteworthy because RnRC has been running year round for over twenty years with only minor closures during that time.

I rode it during Jollywood Nights. Walk on with barely anyone in the car. I love the last seat of roller coasters but made a mistake to request it that night. My head was shaken around so much I was afraid I was actually going to get injured. I'm not sure I will ride it again.

I don't know that I would ride it if I knew there was more work to still be done. I don't know, it just seems a little dangerous, but I guess that depends on what the work actually is.
