Disney has announced closure dates for Muppets-themed attractions at Hollywood Studios, but fans are left with one major unanswered question: When will Rock 'n' Roller Coaster close for its already announced transformation into a Muppets-themed ride?

The closures will begin in May, with the Grand Avenue area entering a phased shutdown. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will serve its final meals on May 10, and both Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo will close after June 7. These dates set the stage for a significant reshaping of the park, yet Disney did not reveal when the changes would reach Rock 'n' Roller Coaster on Sunset Boulevard.

Disney confirmed that Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and other Muppet favorites will take over the coaster, teaming up with music legends for a rockin’ music festival. The new ride promises high-speed thrills with a signature Muppets twist, laughter, and new music. Concept art released by Disney showcases the lively and humorous tone fans can expect, but no timeline has been shared for when the reimagining will begin.

The lack of a closure date for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster leaves fans wondering how long they have to experience the Aerosmith-themed version of the ride. The coaster recently reopened from an extensive refurbishment that improved its ride system and lighting but retained its original storyline. For now, it remains unclear how much longer the classic version will be available.

Meanwhile, Disney did reveal that Sunset Boulevard with become home to new Muppets-themed merchandise accompanying the ride’s transformation.

Source? I thought he joined the hate statement they all put out when they fired him.

Maybe they’ll update the coaster cars to have better speakers!

I hope we can hear the music on the new version of RNRCC. I can barely hear it on the current version but the music is crystal clear on Guardians.

But, here is sad fact...They had recently finished filming the 3d film when Jim had passed and they were intending to have Kermit in it as well..They filmed the pre show a week or so later after his memorial service and Frank Oz directed the whole pre show segments which is why you see more of Oz's characters....But, it hits hard when you hear Fozzie asks Where's Kermit to Scooter..Even tho he's in the theater getting ready....We all know what really happened during that time...

Best joke in the entire show.

Last week, we just did a same day “down and back” and we bookended the whole day with Muppets. Apps at Mama Melrose and lousy pizza at PizzeRizzo. Super excited about Monsters Inc doorcoaster, but I’ll really miss this show. Holding out hope it returns at Sunset Showcase next to RnR but I know it’s so unlikely.

I’m hoping when I’m there on the last day we’ll be able to catch the preshow at least once in full, if not in parts between viewings. The friends that are coming with me have never been to a Disney park before but are big Muppet fans so I want them to experience as much of it as they can since it’ll be their first and only time. I’m lucky I got to see it every single time I’ve ever been to Disney, but even then, no amount of screenings on that last day will feel like enough. Too bad the archival seems to just be filming of the show rather than moving it.

We went twice last month (our last two times…) and unfortunately, each time we arrived, the pre-show was ending. I thought it was a bit much to make my family wait another 20 mins, so we just walked into the theater. I was certainly the biggest MV3D fan in the family due to the nostalgia factor. They all liked it a lot but I loved it. At least it’s on YouTube.

God, the writing is so good. Classic Muppets has some of the sharpest wit and quick jokes- their strength I think is not lingering on a joke too long. Early SpongeBob was similar (albeit much more family friendly), focusing on great writing over goofy faces or slapstick. My favorite bit from MuppetVision is that distinguished scientists line, but I think a close second is from the preshow of all things. Fozzie: “Scooter, I’d like to present the three D’s —“ Dorothy: “Hi, I’m Dorothy!” Dinah: “I’m Dinah!” Max: “I’m Max! Yeah, Debbie was sick, so, uh, the union sent me.” Scooter: “. . .” Fozzie: “…Debbie was sick, so the un — (Clears throat and pulls out a pitch pipe.)” The line delivery Frank Oz gives here is perfection. The beat of silence as Scooter stares at him, the awkward repetition of Max’s line as if he trying to pretend it’s normal, the lack of confidence in his voice, the way he cuts himself off and shakily pulls out the pitch pipe, it’s just so good. It’s a shame the preshow is something you likely won’t see 100% of because it’s full of so many gems. Sam Eagle: “Will you stop this foolishness?!” Gonzo: “What foolishness would you like to see?” Sam Eagle: “Will you get out of here?!”

Vogel Kermit is growing on me, moreso for his understanding of the character. The voice is a middle ground between Jim and Steve- his pitch is closer to Jim’s but still a little higher and almost smoother, it lacks the kinda slight gravely-ness that Jim had. I still think Steve was unjustly fired and the fact he still hangs with the rest of the Muppets crew is very telling. If he was “awful to work with” as Disney said then why do all his old coworkers hang out? Even Brian Henson was positively and fondly talking about him a year or two ago. But now Disney has recast Kermit and they don’t wanna admit they’re wrong so we have a new Kermit and lost Rizzo.

Oh that looks like it was designed for toddlers. The original was aimed at an older age group than that.
