great to relax, look around, and decide what you want to do great shops
Each time we visit Disney's Animal Kingdom, we notice most people rush through this enchanting land for the interior of the park. I like to take my time and look at all the animals on display in this area. This is especially fun if I get to the park early, as the animals are more active. There are two main trails through The Oasis, left and right. In between, there are several smaller cross trails that get basically no traffic at all. They contain more wooden bridges over the waterways and most of the interesting animals. All the trails lead to the Tree of Life view. The smaller trails go inside some of the rock formations and almost feel like you are in a cave. I also like walking through there in the heat of the day. The Oasis is all shaded and I like to buy lunch and walk it here to sit in one of the caves by the waterfall. Very cool and comfortable and hardly any people traffic. If you arrive early enough, look for cast members standing just outside The Oasis with some cool animal or insect to show. The last time we were there, two very friendly cast members had giant cockroaches (I know, gross...but somehow interesting also). They were knowledgeable about the insects and shared many great facts. Don't rush through this great Disney experience!
The Oasis is one of the first "lands" that one encounters in AK. It has thick rainforest like foliage, exotic birds and an anteater. The anteater is the best animal attraction. It also holds one of the greatest restaurants in WDW, Rainforest Cafe. The Oasis is pretty small but interesting and worth walking through. Rainforest Cafe adds a LOT to it.
