Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party launched this past week at Magic Kingdom with a sold-out opening night, and we got to see how the Virtual Queue for TRON Lightcycle Run handled the capacity crowd.
As expected, the Virtual Queue for TRON Lightcycle Run was full just seconds after opening at 6pm. It remained open for 5 seconds before closing, giving partygoers precious little time to secure a spot on the Magic Kingdom's newest ride.
The rapid closure of the Virtual Queue followed a very similar pattern to what we have seen at Extended Evening Hours for Disney Deluxe Resort hotel guests, where the 6pm Virtual Queue typically reaches capacity in around 4 seconds.
As a reminder, there is no standby line at TRON Lightcycle Run, even during party nights. By joining the Virtual Queue, you get a time to return to TRON and join the physical line.
If you are going to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and plan to ride TRON Lightcycle Run, the best advice is to use an atomic clock time source, such as an Apple Watch, to precisely join the 6pm queue within the My Disney Experience app. Before 6pm, go into the Virtual Queue section of the app and select members of your party who will join the queue. There will not be time at 6pm to do anything other than to refresh the Virtual Queue screen and join the queue.
Note that you do not have to be inside Magic Kingdom to join the 6pm Virtual Queue on Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights.
