Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party launched this past week at Magic Kingdom with a sold-out opening night, and we got to see how the Virtual Queue for TRON Lightcycle Run handled the capacity crowd.

As expected, the Virtual Queue for TRON Lightcycle Run was full just seconds after opening at 6pm. It remained open for 5 seconds before closing, giving partygoers precious little time to secure a spot on the Magic Kingdom's newest ride.

The rapid closure of the Virtual Queue followed a very similar pattern to what we have seen at Extended Evening Hours for Disney Deluxe Resort hotel guests, where the 6pm Virtual Queue typically reaches capacity in around 4 seconds.

As a reminder, there is no standby line at TRON Lightcycle Run, even during party nights. By joining the Virtual Queue, you get a time to return to TRON and join the physical line.

If you are going to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and plan to ride TRON Lightcycle Run, the best advice is to use an atomic clock time source, such as an Apple Watch, to precisely join the 6pm queue within the My Disney Experience app. Before 6pm, go into the Virtual Queue section of the app and select members of your party who will join the queue. There will not be time at 6pm to do anything other than to refresh the Virtual Queue screen and join the queue.

Note that you do not have to be inside Magic Kingdom to join the 6pm Virtual Queue on Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights.

You're completely right. Idk how it slipped to me that TBA will be opening around that time. :D Of course there's still a small probability that Tron may keep its VQ, but very unlikely.

Well, June is the approximate time frame when Tiana's Bayou Adventure will be open, so this year MK should be busier than June last year, I would think. The other consideration is that once it opens, will Tron even have a VQ any longer? Probably not. The VQ will probably shift to Tiana assuming it is open to the general public and no longer in a preview period. Sounds like people are reporting the preview period will be starting June 9, we just don't know how long it will last. Once it officially opens, at that point, a regular standby queue should be available for Tron so for anyone wanting a night ride, they can just walk up shortly before the park closes. But for mid-June, I would have to guess the Tron VQ and ILL will still be active.

I would say so that it's correlated to the number of people in the parks and how busy it is. It seems like currently the parks aren't that packed and in the "slow" period. June shouldn't be that busy, and looking at last year's data it was open for around an hour.

Definitely helpful - thank you! The side of me that's interested purely in the data side still wonders, though: do you have any ideas why sometimes the BG availability in the 1PM drop lasts for seconds versus minutes or hours? Do you think it's purely a function of number of people in the park, or something else?

If you want to ride at night, definitely go for the afternoon 1pm drop. I would also keep a look here to see what the window times are a week leading up to your trip. If they remain like they are right now (lasting >1 hours to multiple hours), might have to plan to wait a bit before getting your BG. You could also get a BG, see what your number is and do the math to see what you callback window time would be (around 5 mins/BG). So for example if you get BG 130 at 1pm, and they are currently at BG 70, your BG 130 will be called in about ~5 hours, so around 6pm. You could then leave the VQ and rejoin to get a much later BG number. Of course this is risky as the VQ could close at any time, permanently losing your spot for the day. The other option to absolutely guarantee your night ride is to just get an ILL. Get a morning/afternoon BG and then get to ride again at night. That's what I did multiple times during my trip and loved it. Hope this helps!
