The Cake Bake Shop at Disney's BoardWalk has filed a new permit to begin work on installing the restaurant's kitchen.

The permit is assigned to Johnson Lancaster and Associates, a food service contractor specializing in commercial kitchen design, construction, and renovation.

The Cake Bake Shop at Disney's BoardWalk was initially announced in 2022 and planned to open in 2023. Construction progressed leisurely as the former ESPN Club was converted into the new restaurant, and the 2023 opening goal slipped to 2024.

Today's permit for the kitchen buildout suggests things are continuing to move forward, and we may see The Cake Bake Shop open its doors later this year. Disney says, The Cake Bake Shop will bring exquisite dining, delicious Afternoon Tea, delectable desserts, marvelous champagne and fanciful cocktails for an extraordinary and whimsical experience.

There’s a reason I only stay at Epcot/Skyliner resorts. With the occasional AKL :)

The price wasn’t the problem. It’s the wait. I waited 20 minutes for a cold street dog. It was fine, and for scientific purposes I will order again, but they were extremely backed up and not even busy. I’d hate to see what happens during peak times.

I was at the Boardwalk tonight, walking from the Hollywood Studios bus loop to Epcot International Gateway (to watch Luminous from the bridge). It was also my first ever time at the Boardwalk, and I gotta say the nighttime vibes were pretty cool and nice. It was decently crowded with people doing all sorts; eating, sitting, chatting, strolling, etc. The entertainment acts were also pretty nice and gathered a really large group of guests. Reminded me a lot of the beach boardwalks at Atlantic City and elsewhere. Also took some pictures of some of the new stuff. The new Corndog stand, which had a decent line on both sides. Smelled pretty nice and was busy. And the infamous Cake Bake Shop. Overall, fantastic area at WDW that I've never experienced or seen yet. Recommended for anyone to stop by or stroll thru. That walkway from HS to Epcot is golden, especially at night if you don't want to take the Skyliner.

Well….. My prediction is, it will be open for significantly less time than it took to build it.
