Disney has raised the price of the Genie+ service at Disneyland Resort in California by $5 to $25 per person per day.
In addition to the higher starting price of $25, the cost of Genie+ at Disneyland will now vary by date. The official Disneyland website says, "Disney Genie+ service offers even more convenience and flexibility, starting at $25.00 USD per ticket per day. Prices vary by date."
Genie+ launched at Disneyland for $20, with Walt Disney World priced at $15 per person per day.
At the time of the Genie+ launch on October 19 2021, Disney said that Walt Disney World's $15 price point was an introductory rate.
With Disneyland's Genie+ now costing $10 more than at Walt Disney World, this may be the time that Disney drops the introductory pricing and increase the price at Walt Disney World.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek has recently commented that 50% of Walt Disney World guests purchase Genie+. Even a $5 price increase would significantly boost earnings from millions of Genie+ buyers.
Disney Genie+ is an option within the Disney Genie service that makes the former FastPass line available at select attractions, now called Lightning Lane. At Walt Disney World, the introductory pricing is $15 per ticket per day. Certain headline attractions are not part of Genie+, and Lightning Lane access at those attractions requires an Individual Attraction purchase which varies in prices.
