The Orlando Sentinel has posted comments from a Disney World spokesman regarding refunds for Disney Genie Individual Attraction purchases impacted by ride closures.
Disney Genie terms and conditions say that any purchases are non-refundable, which has led to some concern about what happens when a ride closes due to technical issues and a guest has made a Disney Genie Individual Attraction purchase.
The unnamed Disney spokesman said that guests would automatically receive a refund for individual Lightning Lane selections if a ride does not reopen for the rest of the day after a closure. If the ride reopens but a visitor is unable to ride due to individual circumstances, they would have to contact guest relations for a refund.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of the attractions that is not part of Disney Genie+ and requires an Individual Attraction purchase to access the Lightning Lane - currently priced at $15 per person. The ride frequently closures due to technical issues and has a restart time of around 1 hour. The ride experienced an extended closure on the first day of Disney Genie, leaving some guests heading to Guest Relations and receiving Disney Gift Cards to cover the $15 Lightning Lane fee.
