The Lightning Lane Premier Pass has sold out for more dates as Walt Disney World's holiday season reaches its peak. Notably, December 29, 2024, marks the first date during the Christmas week that all four parks—Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom—have sold out of the Premier Pass. This follows a similar trend seen during Thanksgiving week, when all four parks sold out for November 25.

Newly Sold-Out Dates

In addition to December 28, more dates have now sold out across Walt Disney World parks:

  • Animal Kingdom: December 29, December 30
  • EPCOT: December 29

December 29: A Repeat of Thanksgiving's All-Park Sell-Out

December 29 is the first date during Christmas week that all four parks have sold out for the Premier Pass. This mirrors Thanksgiving week, where November 25 became the first day in 2024 for all four parks to sell out simultaneously.

Overview of Current Sell-Out Dates

Here is the complete list of sold-out dates for the Lightning Lane Premier Pass during the 2024 Christmas holiday season:

  • Magic Kingdom: December 21, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, January 1, 2, 3
  • EPCOT: December 21, 28, 29, 31
  • Hollywood Studios: December 27, 28, 29, 30, 31
  • Animal Kingdom: December 29, 30

Comparing Thanksgiving and Christmas Trends

Thanksgiving week saw record sell-outs for the Premier Pass, culminating with all four parks selling out for November 25. Christmas week has now followed suit, with December 29 replicating this milestone and even more dates selling out across all four parks.

Christmas week has surpassed Thanksgiving with more sold-out dates across the parks.

Tips for Guests Without a Premier Pass

If you haven't secured a Premier Pass for your visit, consider these alternatives:

Explore Other Lightning Lane Options: Multi Passes and Lightning Lane Single purchases may still be available.

  • Arrive Early: Standby lines are manageable with early park entry, especially for headliner attractions.
  • Adjust Your Plans: Visiting parks on less busy days or focusing on lesser-known attractions can still result in a magical experience.

What to Expect for Future Holidays

With both Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks setting records for sell-outs, similar patterns are likely during future peak periods like Spring Break and Memorial Day. Guests planning to visit Walt Disney World during these times should act early to secure Premier Passes or explore alternative strategies for navigating crowds.

We caved and bought LL multi pass and single pass for our upcoming trip and the first thing we noticed is how underbuilt the parks are. With no Big Thunder there’s really only 3 or 4 rides that need MP at MK, 3 at AK, and with no TestTrack only 2 at Epcot, we’re skipping HS and our normal 2nd day at MK this trip so Disney got an extra $250 out of us for LLs but we’re actually spending about $1500 less than normal. Higher guest spending per day so I guess that’s considered a win for Disney…

LLPPs are vapor and costs them ZERO. Disney loses ZERO dollars to offer a LLPP package like this, unlike "free dining" where they literally have to give out "free" meals/snacks whatever. They launched LLPPs and created high value (albeit FAKE) for their vapor product LLPP. Therefore, it costs them ZERO to offer LLPPs and in return they can sell deluxe rooms at rack rate, min 4 days, 4 days at park with park hoppers and folks still need to buy meals. Its a win all around for Disney.

I'd love it but seems unlikely as even club level is less per night than what they can currently charge for PP. Or are you thinking this after initial demand has cratered?

I like your idea - they could treat it like free dining - Select resorts only - rack rate. 4 night minimum. Must purchase minimum of four parks with park hopper (just to drive up price) 1 LLPP for each park (max total of 4) regardless of length of stay.

I could see Disney including PP into certain deluxe resort stays. Monorail resorts of 4+ nights with 4+days of park hopper, no discount on room, you can get free PP at Magic Kingdom. Sub monorail for skyliner and divide those between Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. AKL getting Animal Kingdom.

In my opinion I do not expect this as they can easily change the "inventory" such that they will always "sell out" ;)

Is there any expectation that Premier Pass eligibility will soften to all guests like in Disneyland?

Yes, it could be because Disney cant fill its most expensive rooms. But maybe - Converting regular rooms into DVC is an Instant money maker (similar to LLPP) the rooms are already there, slap a label on them and call them DVC and sell them for massive bucks and we already know the nightly rates for a DVC room is insane if one chooses to do so. 🤑 Maybe when they are converting rooms into DVC the maintenance for those rooms is also converted to a DVC cost. Maybe when the rooms that are converted into DVC; those rooms are also moved out of the regular room inventory, could it be possible that a lower inventory can allow them to charge more for the remaining rooms?

That must be why they’ve been converting deluxe rooms into DVC accommodations at GF, Poly, and WL. 🤔

I agree, folks show up and pay to stay in deluxe resorts anyway. Disney hates to give away anything and they LOVE the LLPP gravy train. It paid to to release a totally broken LL system.

Currently doing a combined Uni / WDW trip, and I have the Uni passes that give you express pass after 4 pm. Uni Express pass is significantly inferior to lightning lane. Since Disney got rid of all the DAS cheaters the LL’s have all been ridiculously fast. Slinky had a 120 minute posted wait today and I tapped in and had maybe 12 people in front of me before the merge point. Express Pass just isnt’ like that at all. The ratio of EP to Standby is something like 1:1. A 120 minute standby wait (and there were several of those today at Universal) is still going to be 30-60 minutes in line. Don’t get me wrong, I love my express pass after 4, but lightning lane is superior in execution (just not in price). I can’t even imagine how pissed someone who paid sticker price for express pass today would feel, still standing in 30-60 minute lines all day.

But Universal has 3 deluxe resorts with express pass covering 2 parks. Disney has 4 parks with 9 true deluxe resorts, excluding DVC. How can that DVC price point not include room service and daily housekeeping lol. I do not count them as deluxe. It’s kinda pretty even. Deluxe should include more perks.

HauntedPirate1 day ago

1. That will never be included in a rack rate unless the rack rate rises a commensurate amount. Disney is addicted/dependent on LL revenue. 2.

Disstevefan11 day ago

I think that would be GREAT! And in my opinion, if they included free LLPP for (even rack rate) stays in say only two deluxe resorts; GF and Poly, there would be a multi year wait list for these resorts.
