Walt Disney World Extends Operating Hours for August and Releases September 2024 Schedule

Walt Disney World has announced longer operating hours for its parks throughout August 2024 and has released the complete schedule for September 2024.

Magic Kingdom

For the week of July 28, Magic Kingdom will now be open from 9 am to 11 pm on August 1 and 2, extending the previous closing time of 10 pm. The week of August 4 brings another extension on August 10, with park hours shifting from 9 am to 11 pm. For the week of August 11, Magic Kingdom will be open from 9 am to 11 pm on August 14 and 17. On August 16, the park will close earlier at 6 pm to accommodate the start of the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party season.

Disney's Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom will open an hour earlier, at 8 am, from July 28 to August 3, while maintaining its 6 pm closing time. This schedule continues for the week of August 4 through August 10. For the week of August 11, Animal Kingdom will operate from 8 am to 6 pm from August 11 to 16, and on August 17, it will stay open until 7 pm.

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios will extend its hours for the weeks of August 4 and August 11. On August 8 and 9, the park will be open from 9 am to 10 pm, adding an extra hour in the evening. For the week of August 11, longer hours are in place on August 13 and 16, with the park staying open from 9 am to 10 pm.

EPCOT

EPCOT’s operating hours will remain unchanged, consistently open from 9 am to 9 pm during these weeks.

I was in MK on Easter in 2010 and I remember the line for Haunted Mansion being backed up to the Liberty Belle Riverboat on ramp. Crazy lines everywhere. Of course, that was 15 years ago and crowd patterns have changed, but I still worry about days like that. We just have no other time to go this year.

Interesting. That Sunday is our Hollywood Studios day. Fingers crossed it will be manageable, but I was really hoping they would extend the park hours so there would be a second performance of Fantasmic as there is on Friday & Saturday. So we could tour the park all day and then see the late performance. Thanks

Actual holidays aren’t as busy as the days before and after any longer. Christmas Day was lovely last year. By about 12/27, it was slammed.

Weird that Easter Sunday only has 1 extra hour at MK, but no added park hours for any other park. Disney added park hours for Friday and Saturday for MK, AK, and HS. Do they think those crowds are just going to stay home on Sunday?
