Speaking today at the Walt Disney Company Annual shareholder meeting, Disney CEO Bob Iger briefly touched on future spending plans.
Notably, Iger said that Disney plans to spend $17 billion over the next ten years in Walt Disney World, bringing 13,000 new jobs to the area. It is rare for executives to speak about longterm plans, so today's comments are very interesting. He of course did not elaborate on where exactly that expenditure would take place.
The Disney CEO made the comment in response to a question about Disney's ongoing battle with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
In his first public statement on the situation with DeSantis, a resolute Iger made it clear that he views the position of the governor as "retaliating against Disney" for its opposition to the Parental Right Bill. And he added that the Governor's response "Seems really wrong to me," and that, "a company has a right to freedom of speech."
