As Florida begins to recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Milton, many communities are facing significant challenges. In response, Disney has announced a commitment to aid recovery efforts by donating $3 million to assist cast members, local communities, and nonprofits that are leading relief efforts across the state.
Hurricane Milton, which reached Category 5 status, made landfall on Florida's west coast, bringing destructive winds, heavy rainfall, and life-threatening storm surges. The storm caused widespread flooding, power outages, and structural damage throughout Central Florida, including the Orlando area. Many communities have been left in need of significant recovery efforts, and organizations across the state are mobilizing to help those affected.
This donation follows Disney’s longstanding involvement in supporting communities before, during, and after natural disasters. The company has also provided thousands of meals to organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank and the Osceola Council on Aging, helping ensure that those affected by the storm have access to essential resources.
Additionally, in preparation for hurricane season, Disney donated supplies like blankets, sheets, pillows, and hygiene products to various Florida nonprofits to assist storm shelters during emergencies.
The Disney Employee Relief Fund has been activated to provide financial assistance to cast members whose primary homes were affected by Hurricane Milton. The company is also offering personalized aid, including repair services, mental health resources, backup child and adult care, and essential supplies such as food, water, and ice.
