At the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro announced that Disneyland's highly anticipated Tiana's Bayou Adventure will officially open on November 15, 2024. Inspired by Disney's "The Princess and the Frog," the attraction will debut as part of the newly renamed Bayou Country, formerly Critter Country.

Bayou Country, which sits adjacent to New Orleans Square, will feature Tiana's Bayou Adventure as its centerpiece, offering guests a vibrant environment filled with nods to the film and the Louisiana bayou. The area will immerse visitors in the charm and music of the region, surrounded by shady trees and a lively atmosphere.

In addition to the new attraction, Bayou Country will also be home to familiar favorites like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes. The area will see the reopening of the Hungry Bear Restaurant, newly reimagined as the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, which promises to offer scenic dining along the riverside.

Merchandise locations in Bayou Country will include Ray's Berets and Louis' Critter Club, where guests can find themed items inspired by the bayou and its inhabitants. Pooh Corner will continue to offer sweet treats for those exploring the new land.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure opened earlier this year at Walt Disney World, and the Disneyland version is set to bring a similar experience to the West Coast.

Yes, of course I’m saying that——whether we see ominous vultures or an Odie it’s immaterial to how wet we get……… but not just for winter, not by a long shot. Any day of the year that isn’t a fast drying hot day can make for a lousy next 3 hours of wet footwear or other items. Tokyo controls their Splash Mnt/Tiana properly.

Their complaint is that because Splash Mountain may get your seriously wet, and always has, Bayou Adventure is a wet disaster. Maybe they’ve hated Splash all along?

So you're saying Splash Mountain was also a deeply flawed attraction for 34 years because riding it in the winter would make you wet and cold and so people had a tendency to skip it? Should water rides not exist or be seasonally shut down in theme parks that are open during the winter? I'm still fuzzy on your actual complaint.

But it looks like you do as evidenced by your: If one needs to time the weather to ride then things like Bayou have real drawbacks.

People use a poncho because it's been under 70 degrees the past few weeks (actually supposed to warm up a bit next weekend). When it's 80+ in the summer most people don't mind getting wet because it feels good in the heat. The only reason so many people are riding it in the cold weather now is because it's new. Most people skipped Splash in the winter time and it would have a 5 minute wait because people have already ridden it several times and didn't want to get wet. I'm sure by the next winter or two things will die down and it will become skippable again. I don't see how this is a deep flaw. You got pretty wet on Splash too. I have a picture of me sitting in the front in summer of 2016 and I was completely drenched from head to toe before the drop.

When I ride a raft ride I expect to be drenched When I ride a Shoot the Chute ride with 50ft drop I expect to get soaked. (POTC does not count) When I ride a log flume, I expect to be splashed. IOA didn’t get the memo, but at least has a water ride with only a mild splash. DLR lacks said ride. It’s dry or soaked, no inbetween.

Ya, true……they be getting drenched in Orlando way beyond what should be. ……..but let’s stick to the topic at hand: Bayou Adventure best tone down its water act like how Tokyo manages their Splash Mnt.

Any ride that more or less requires a plastic cloak is inherently problematic. At its core there is something very wrong; a flaw so deep that it can adversely affect one’s next 3 hours in the park.

On my first ride last week I was in 3rd position and my feet got pretty soaked. On my second ride through I got lucky and was the first in line for my log and the CM asked if I wanted 1st or 5th position. I quickly chose 5th. I also pulled my feet behind me instead of in front of me and they stayed dry. However, I still would have gotten pretty soaked on my pants and shirt if I didn't wear the poncho. Here is a pic of my second ride: I was the only one in a poncho on this trip. I know what I'm about to say might be considered blasphemous, but the ride actually kinda grew on me the second time I rode it. There's definitely a certain "vibe" with the music and setting. Not saying it is better or equal to Splash, but I did enjoy my times riding it and always had fun people in the logs with me. The way I was sitting my body came off of the seat on the top of the hill on the Laughing Place dips.
