Triceratop Spin and Dinosaur Treasures Removal - January 30, 2025

Disney Imagineers have installed an EarthCam Timelapse camera to capture the transformation of the former Dino-Rama area into the upcoming Tropical Americas land at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The camera is mounted on top of the former Dinosaur Treasures building, providing a wide-angle view of the active construction site.

This isn't the first time Disney has used EarthCam technology to document large-scale projects. Similar cameras have been set up for past multi-year expansions, providing behind-the-scenes glimpses into the construction of major attractions and lands. The footage captured is often used in promotional materials and updates, showcasing progress over time.

While much of the Dino-Rama section is being demolished to make way for new experiences, the Dinosaur Treasures building will remain as part of the land's redevelopment, rethemed to fit the Tropical Americas aesthetic.

Disney has not yet shared if or when the timelapse footage will be made available to the public, but it could provide an interesting look at the land's evolution as construction ramps up in the coming months.

Visible progress has slowed this week compared to the hive of activity in the first week. Triceratop Spin continues to be dismantled rather than demolished, suggesting that the ride system will be repurposed or sold.

A friend of mine is working in entertainment at Restaurantosaurus, and they were told that the contract is up in January.

Don't jinx it. They could just bury some fossils in the dirt, give kids a shovel and call it a day. I hear that Florida is looking for child labor now anyway so it could be a slow dig.

Pretty soon it's going to be too late for Disney to change their minds.

I feel like Muppets RnRC could make an appearance as well.

Zootopia is very late this year so almost a 2026 offering and will have updated Big Thunder, but yeah, not a ton unless they add some other entertainment. Could be another update like Buzz coming too

Really its 2026 that's Disney biggest problem for new offerings (Millennium Falcon new mission and Buzz Lightyear's new gun at the moment) 2025 WDW at least has 2 new shows at HS, Epcot's Test Track 3.0, MK's new night parade and AK's Zootopia show

Why not? Do you seriously think Disney was gonna release a new land this year? That would be a stupid idea and I don’t know how people don’t understand this concept. Disney knows to let universal “have this omelette since they’re gonna be hurting financially as they recover the major costs of the new park and are trying to figure out operations. Universal is going to stagnate at their other parks as the money flow gets adjusted and then Disney will have a planned 2-4 summers worth of announcements that will help them

They've known for years they would have a brand new park to go up against. Two months before that new park opens is not the time to start work on new projects.

To be fair, it looks like they've changed now as they know they have a brand new park to go up against. Pandora's land clearing started in 2014 and opened in 2017. So if this opens up in 2027 then that's progress.

More pictures from the demolish of Dinorama, it looks like most (if not all) of the trees behind the former Primeval Whirl have been removed and the Dino Institiute sign is now in the process of being removed https://blog.disneygeek.com/2025/04/03/pictures-tropical-americas-construction-at-disneys-animal-kingdom-4-3-25/
