Disney has today relaxed its mask requirement for Cast Members and will no longer require masks to be worn for those fully vaccinated when backstage at Walt Disney World.
The new policy is effective November 8 2021, and masks will still be required when on-stage, in guest-facing indoor areas. The company also reiterated that guests will still be required to wear masks when indoors.
It has been expected that Disney will soon drop indoor mask requirements for guests, but this latest development would suggest that may not happen imminently.
Orange County has consistently seen a 14-day positivity rate below 5% in recent times and has allowed its local state of emergency to expire. The CDC continues to rate Orange County as a place of substantial COVID transmission, but leaders expect the county to move to moderate levels of transmission over the coming weeks.
As a reminder, this is the current guest mask policy at Walt Disney World.
Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) in all indoor locations, regardless of vaccination status. This includes upon entering and throughout all indoor attractions and indoor queues and in Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings are optional for Guests in outdoor areas.
