As Disney prepares to bring its D23 fan event to Brazil for the first time this November, Walt Disney World fans are awaiting potential updates on some of the most anticipated projects in the Disney parks universe that were announced during the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in California earlier this year.

D23 Brazil: What We Know

Taking place on November 8-10, 2024, at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo, D23 Brazil will offer fans a schedule of panels, exhibits, and sneak peeks into upcoming Disney projects. The event will be divided into two stages: Arena D23 and the Disney Moments by Claro Stage, where presentations will range from film previews to interactive performances.

D23 has said to expect "Exclusive previews of films, series, games and shows and a sneak peek of what's to come, as well as the latest on new and highly anticipated projects in development around the world for Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line."

A Second Look at  D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event Announcements

At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in California earlier this year, Disney laid out an ambitious roadmap for the future of its parks, resorts, and cruise line. Given the scope of these announcements, it's possible that D23 Brazil will shed light on more specific details, including models, new concept art, and timelines.

Among the key announcements for Walt Disney World were:

Monsters, Inc. Land at Hollywood Studios

Construction Begins in 2025
Disney's Hollywood Studios will soon welcome a new land based on Pixar's Monsters, Inc.. The new attraction will allow guests to step inside the world of Monstropolis and explore the Monsters, Inc. factory in Disney's first suspended coaster, with construction scheduled to begin in 2025. The big question remains - where will it be located? Muppets Courtyard or Animation Courtyard.

Cars at Magic Kingdom

Construction Begins in 2025
Pixar's Cars franchise is making its way to Magic Kingdom with two new attractions planned for the park. Set to begin construction in 2025, this new area will offer family-friendly experiences featuring fan-favorite characters from the Cars movies. One attraction will invite you on a thrilling rally race through the mountains. Take on wild terrain as you race across the landscape climbing mountain trails, dodging geysers and — Mater’s favorite — splashing through mudholes. The second attraction will be geared towards smaller racers and the whole family.

Villains Land at Magic Kingdom

Construction Soon
Magic Kingdom will also be getting a darker twist with the introduction of a Villains-themed land. This new area, which will highlight the more sinister side of Disney fairytales, is set to begin construction soon.

Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom

Coming to Life in 2027
Animal Kingdom will be expanding with a new land called Tropical Americas. This area will include attractions inspired by Indiana Jones and Encanto, allowing guests to explore the magical world of the Madrigal family and the adventures of the iconic archeologist.

New Disney Starlight Nighttime Parade at Magic Kingdom

Arriving on Main Street, U.S.A. in 2025
Magic Kingdom will debut a new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight, in 2025. This parade will bring new energy to Main Street, U.S.A.

Test Track Reimagined at EPCOT

Opening in 2025
EPCOT’s Test Track will undergo a major reimagining, set to debut in 2025. The new version of the attraction will explore the past, present, and future of automotive innovation.

New Adventures in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Jump to Lightspeed in 2026
Mandalorian fans will have a new reason to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2026. A new adventure featuring Mando and Grogu will be added to Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run, in celebration of the upcoming film, The Mandalorian and Grogu.

New Lounges Coming to Disney World

Coming in 2025
Two new themed lounges are set to open at Disney World in 2025, inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean and Spaceship Earth

'Zootopia: Better Zoogether' at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Opens Winter 2025
The show, "Zootopia: Better Zoogether!" will take guests on an adventure through different biomes seen in the film.

I have to assume that the recent pair of Muppets related announcements where some of the ones that were rumored or thought to be introduced at this convention?

JayspencyNov 15, 2024

all of them technically if Disney sticks to their promise of starting these new projects in 2025, and if test track is still down.

mattpetoNov 14, 2024

I could be wrong, but I really can't see them announcing significant projects right now. 3 of 4 WDW parks will have active projects going on at some point in 2025.

Hello Kitty is incredibly popular in the US, especially with the addition of her other friends. Do you know what a Cinnamoroll is? If you step foot into a Five Below or something like that, you'd see a whole aisle wiped clean of anything with his face on it because he's ridiculously popular. Sanrio sells Big Time BUT... yeah it's nowhere near it's what it's like in Asian countries because most places (sans Hollywood and soon Los Angeles which will have permanent Hello Kitty store locations) can't really support a full time HK store. I do believe a Sanrio Store in Citywalk would've worked better than one trapped in Studios Florida, but this is a WDW board, why am I talking about Universal?!

Is this project off the table entirely?

FigmentFan82Nov 13, 2024

Hello Kitty is very popular in the US

Hello Kitty doesn't seem very popular in the US, at least not what it's like in Asian countries.

Would this have been something rumored?

wdwmagicNov 12, 2024

There was some expectation that a new project may have been announced at D23, which would have then prompted an update on the Disney Parks site, perhaps a few days later, on the closing of something else. But I agree that a closing announcement would not have made sense directly at D23.

My thinking they are going to have to announce where Monsters are going someday and maybe they would sneak it into the Brazil D23. My next guesses for days to sneak out the news saying Muppets will be destroyed thinking folks will be distracted are: Any random Friday after 5PM Eastern time. Thanksgiving day. Christmas Eve, Christmas day. New Years Eve, New Years day. Jan 6th 2025 ;)

mattpetoNov 12, 2024

Announcing attractions are closing don’t feel like D23 material. Not sure why we suspected we’d get that from Brazil. RoA and TSI came two days after the “good news”.

MothNov 12, 2024

Oh worm, that must've been recent. Hilarious that Universal somehow managed to make Kitty NOT produce money and closed her store but alas. Top three is nothing to scoff at though.

HauntedPirateNov 12, 2024

There are always people thinking the Tower is going to be rethemed, and they think they know the reasons why (which have all been debunked in the past). It's exhausting.

bmr1591Nov 12, 2024

As a fan of Sci-Fi, I'd prefer Muppets not invade.
