Disney's Animal Kingdom will again host Extended Evening Hours later in 2024, as Magic Kingdom moves into the hard-ticket event season.

Magic Kingdom has a busy final three months of the year as the park hosts two after-hours events - Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. As we saw in 2023, during this time, Extended Evening Hours will shift to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom, in addition to continuing at EPCOT.

The first Extended Evening Hours event at Disney's Animal Kingdom in 2024 is set for Friday October 11, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Extended Evening Hours is a benefit for guests staying at Walt Disney World deluxe hotels, and offers 2 hours of additional park time after regular close.

We don't yet have the confirmed attraction line-up, but this is what was available in 2023.

Attractions available during Extended Evening Hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom

  • Avatar Flight of Passage
  • DINOSAUR
  • Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
  • It's Tough to be a Bug!
  • Meet Favorite Disney Pals at Adventurers Outpost
  • Na'vi River Journey
  • TriceraTop Spin

I said there’s no way for them to build Encanto before Dino has to close because…time is a thing. There’s no reality where they get a completely new ride built and open in 18 months. So there will indeed be a window when DAK has 5 rides. Let’s hope nothing needs a refurbishment in 2026!

DHS was down to 3 rides in it's redevelopment. So, when you say "there's no way...."

There’s no way they open Encanto before Dino closes AND finish this all in 2027. I’ve always been told there will be overlap in their construction but that Dino stays open well into 2025. The entire land would be closed in 2026. I believe they want to close ITtbaB and open it as Zootopia right as Dino closes. Better than nothing?

Any word on a closure date for ITTBAB?

Splash to Tiana took 522 days. I expect Dino to Indy to take a similar amount of time. For Dino to open on December 31st, 2027 (to meet the promise of the whole land being open in 2027) it would have to close on July 27th, 2026. I can't see Encanto opening in 23 months even if they start building today, but maybe I am wrong. I think more likely is Zootopia and Dino are both open for Christmas/ new years 2025, then Dino goes down.

I believe they said it will be opening together, so while I think they'll stagger the closure of Dinosaur, I would expect that entire area to be closed at some point, and then all reopens in 2027ish. ETA: my thoughts:

That would make sense if they're staggering closures. Get Encanto up and running, then close Dinosaur. That would mean Encanto is first up. And we will know that well before you make your trip plans.

Work on TA is supposed to start in 2024 and be done by 2027 according to Disney sources. Zootopia in the ToL is supposed to open Winter of 2025 according to Disney sources. Sooo....

I still wouldn’t sweat until they actually break ground. I wouldn’t be shocked if that’s very late December.

All sources (the ones I trust anyway) have indicated Dinosaur will be the last thing they get to. I think it’ll be there for most of 2025 personally.

My hope is that Dinosaur lasts through next summer. I just need one more ride.

The same thing the park did before Pandora existed.

It is basically a LLSP for Navi with some short bonus skips on the side. EPCOT is basically a LLSP for either RAT or Frozen right now with some short bonus skips on the side
