I only wish this was available to all the parks and resorts. *sigh* There's nothing I could/would suggest to improve it, since the service is absolutely perfect as is.
There needs to be a much better tracking system for the busses. We noticed in October that there would be several busses with the same destination arriving at the same time at our resort. This would invariably occur during the peak transport times, such as mornings at park openings. When our bus arrived, we would have been waiting over 25 minutes in the que, and the bus itself would be packed to the hilt. Each time we had to stand with our toddler in the aisle, which was uncomfortable and seemed rather unsafe. Although it's a great free service to have bus transportation to the parks from the resorts, perhaps Disney could look to metro services in large cities like NYC or Boston for ideas on how to maximize their efficiency.
Granted, it's a must ride at least once per vacation. However, we only go during peak times, when the monorails are the least efficient. When you finally get on a monorail, you wait before ecah stop out on the tracks for a good 10 mins due to "heavy volume." At least with the busses when it is crowded they will stack multiple busses at the bus stops that need it most and get all home to a Resort in a timely fashion. However, monorails must keep a certian distance whereas the busses can come rapid fire and several at one time. Also, the bu drivers are friendly and talk--and even sing Christmas songs--while the monorail is very standard and un personal as it is all recordings. And the monorail staff seem "holier than thou" and are not too keen on smiling, jsut doing their job and heding Guests onto over cramped vestibules like cows. I'll take a bus over the monorail, especially during peak seasons. But, yes, the monorail is a must one trip...but then when I'm stuck on it pre station I regret it.
The monorail is such an important part of any vacation to Walt Disney World. It really is your "Gateway To The Magic Kingdom" and has been since 1971. The monorail is THE BEST!!
Okay, its a bus. It gets you from here and there. Its hit and miss transit wise. You get good drivers and bad drivers. You get good passengers and ghawd awful bratty screaming kids who think its wrestlemania. All in all, it would be nicer if there was a bus to DTD from the parks.
You get a great view of the Seven Seas Lagoon and MK resorts on the MK monorail, and a great view of Epcot's Future World on the Epcot monorail. You can get an even BETTER view if you get a chance to ride in the front with the driver. Also, the seats are comfortable and the trains run frequently. Highly recommended.
Great system. The best way to move around MK. Love to be co-pilots upfront since thats how you get the best view of all around you. I say they should extend the monorail to all parks. I know this might never happen because of the cost...but a great idea.
The monorails are one of the best forms of transportation at Disney World. I love gliding along, high above the ground, able to see so much of WDW from above. I try to ride at least once every visit. And the fun thing is, you can go have lunch at one of the resort restaurants (provided its on the monorail line) and be back in the park quickly and easily in no time at all. It's something that always makes me think of Disney World.
There are many times when I've had to wait over an hour to get to a bus.
The best transportation at WDW. If you don't mind waiting a few extra minutes, ask to ride in the front cab! It fits 4 and gives you a great view.
I'll always love the Monorail. There's just something so other-worldly and special about it - it should be expanded to the other 2 parks. The only thing I don't like is the smell of the interior, but maybe the cast can't help that due to the amount of people. Ride up front if you can, esp. if you have kiddies!
I love these things. They have always looked like how the future of transportation should be. Its hard to believe the track and idea was desogned in the 50's but they sure look like the belong 50 years from now. They are a quick fun way to travel to at least two of the parks here at WDW. Hopefully they will open there wallets and build more track to connect to all four of the parks. Dont miss riding in the front with the pilot. What a view!!! Busses....pssh
These are alright until they are packed. I just dont have anything good to say about bussing. Monorails everywhere!!!
We used the bus to and from MGM and it wasn't too bad. We went March 3-7th so it wasn't busy at all. Even when the park closed at night the service was good and we got on right away. My husband did have to stand though. The bus system is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It takes some time to get to and from so allow travel time, especially with kids.
This was really great for us. We had a stroller so it worked out to be the best transportation for us. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge March 3-7th. We spent a lot of time at MK so we used the ferry a lot. Even after the park closed we only had to wait 5 mins to get a boat. It was very relaxing and we didn't mind the time it took to get to MK. The ferry made a stop at the Fort Wilderness Campground on the way to and from so that put us at 10-15 mins per trip.
