Most folk speak highly of this show, and with good reason. It’s a total blast. I have heard a few grumbles, but they are either from people who wanted a recreation of the movie or were making unfair comparisons to Cirque Du Soleil. Plus anyone who hates stage shows and would rather be on a roller coaster. Anyone in the latter category, get thee to Islands of Adventure and let someone else have the seat. The show is bright, colourful, bounding with energy , damn good fun and now that it is in a fully enclosed theatre the lighting rigs work to maximum effect. It’s a gotta’ see presentation.
Ever since I knew what the ride system for Mission: SPACE was I was excited. Now that I have finally ridden it I feel that though the ride system is amazing, it was not fully utilized. I had heard so many amazing things about this ride, and the commercials made it seem like the most thrilling thing in the world. Sadly, I walked out (straight, I might add) disappointed. The training storyline I hoped, would be adequate, but it wasn't. The theming was well done, but considering the entire queque sits infront of a giant spinning wheel I felt Disney punked out on that aspect too. The building is beautiful, don't get me wrong; but it's an amazing shell to a mediocre attraction. Frankly, the ride delivered little on thrills. Now in most attractions that wouldn't be a bad thing, but with SPACE it's not a good thing at all. The way this thing is being advertised you would expect another Test Track. I don't think my heart even accelerated on this ride though. It was just too short and not thrilling enough. I rode it once, and that will be enough for me. Maybe Disney will wisen up and actually make it thrilling eventually.
Mexico's answer to It's a Small World. You float along a track in the pavilion, past a travelogue for Mexico, wishing it was over. It's not even relaxing. But it is sleep inducing. I rode through this thing, kinda stunned by its awfulness, amazed that Disney would have a ride this uninspired and tiresome. Better to have nothing at all.
Be careful on your way in, there is ice and snow on the floor and it can get quite slippery. I really enjoyed tasting all the different sodas from differents countries, esp. the ones with the apple and watermelon flavors. Strangely, I didn't find that Beverly was as awful as everyone says it is...it was kind of refreshing to try something a little bitter after all those really sweet sodas. I really liked the frozen "Iceman" I thought that was a cute touch. And it didn't matter to me that it was an advertisement for Coke, other attractions are sponsored by other companies... This is a great place to stop and visit if you're hot and thirsty. Free soda at WDW--can't beat that with a stick!
First, I did get a little nauseated on this ride, but by following instructions (do not move your head, do not close your eyes, look straight ahead), I was able to get through it all right. It was an interesting experience, but not one that I think I'll do again. I liked the thrill of the launch, that was exciting, but on the whole I was too worried about getting sick and punching buttons to really enjoy myself. If you go, be sure and follow their instructions. Also, when you get out of your little pod at the end of the ride, expect to be a little unsteady on your legs. It's a long walk to the after ride area, so you'll get a chance to recover. Good luck!
"Wishes" is pretty mediocore, but its about as good as mediocore can get. Once again, a new Disney production is stinking of b-movie quality: the voices are raunchily insincere, the music is sometimes laughable in all the ways it doesn't intend to be laughable (a big explosion of white fireworks and a bunch of female sopranos singing a synchronized "Wishes!"), and the storyline is a shameless mangling of regurgitated "Fantasmic!" plot points - does Disney just not think anymore? Have they actually managed to plagiarize their own previous work without realizing it, or is this yet another pathetic cloning which takes something good (Fantasmic) and inflates it until it has lost all of its magic? I probably don't want the honest answer to that question. Still, though, the fireworks are bright, the explosions loud, and tinkerbell/blue ferry (I never figured out which one it was this time around, and audibly neither did anyone around me) still flys from the castle to Tomorrowland. If you muted the audio, you'd have a better show than what was here before (which isn't saying all that much), but the ten cent soundtrack makes you wish you were at "Fantasmic!" or on a time machine that would take you back to right before Disney had stooped so low as to even sell the soul of the magic taking place right smack above Cinderella's own castle.
PEOPLE WILL STAND IN LINE FOR ANYTHING ONCE--HOPEFULLY JUST ONCE. HARD TO BELIEVE THIS WASN'T A PRESHOW. NICE SET BUT NOT WORTH THE WAIT !!!!!!
THE BEST FIREWORKS AT DISNEY.GREAT TO SEE A SHOW WERE EVERY VIEW IS GOOD WITHOUT STAKING OUT A SEAT TWO HOURS AHEAD OF TIME.
Wow. Even when you see the limos take off, the feeling from zero to 58 on a 200 ft incline makes you think to yourself, right at the start, "WHY DID I DO THIS?!" Or at least it did for me. Thrill rides are fun - and this one was, after the intial launch. The attraction is very clever and well-themed. But I think I'll back off on this one next time. Although it's a joyride, I don't want to experience that giant shoot-off ever again.
You'll see a long line when walking up to One Man's Dream. No, folks aren't waiting in line for that little morsel into Disney history. Instead, the guests are waiting in a long line. For the dullness they are about to experience. Unless you are a movie-making, or Haunted Mansion FILM, diehard, SKIP IT. The attraction, while you get to see the main set (big deal; you get to see Walt's STUDIO next door) is dull. Props hang everywhere and the feel of a hardware store complements the average "behind the scenes" 3-minute movie. Wait for the DVD to learn how the film was made. In fact, let me sum it up for you: people made costumes, wrote scripts, and designed sets. Forget the line - you'll find MUCH more interest in "One Man's Dream" right next door and also the Sounds Dangerous post-show. (Seriously, those two are some of the biggest treasures at Disney-MGM Studios).
The Echanted Tiki Room - Under New Management, is a welcome change to the original version. It is much shorter and a lot sharper at getting the audience involved in the harmless and comedic storyline. It sees Iago from Aladdin moving in to take over the dated version, and they pull no punches at teasing the older version either, which is the funniest part of the show. Some may find Godfried's voice annoying, but that's also what is so darn funny about he and his character, if you ask me. It also may be why this show is much shorter than the original, though. I couldn't take much more by the end. When this first opened, I was very happy with the changes, but now, I think it serves as a sort of poetic irony for everything that seems to be going wrong with Disney at this time. "Under New Management" sees one of Disney's first attempts at taking an entirely original ride with original characters built for that ride, replaced, or at least demoted, by a Disney motion picture character. "Disney Character Rapeage" is what my friend likes to call it, and although I truly believe it works here, this attempt was soon followed by having "Buzz Lightyear" wipe out one of my personal favorites "Dreamflight", and soon "Stitch Escape" will be invading Tomorroland's excellent "Alien Encounter" attractin, and there have also been plenty of rumors about yet another "Toy Story" themed ride replacing "Timekeeper" in the not-so-distant future. I think Disney would be better off if they just kept creating, rather than inflating. But, on the other side, this show proves that it can be done correctly. Well, then again, it was hard to get much worse than the original simply because it was so outdated. And Iago poking fun at the original version is certainly funny, but I think we'd all agree that we would take the original back at this point as long the spirit of its unique creation came back with it.
Philharmagic is superb and a great addition/replacement for the Magic Kingdom. Although less technically awe-inspiring than other 3D efforts such as Its Tough to be a Bug with its numerous animatronics and 4D effects, Philharmagic is, as its name implies, magic. From the almost unnoticeable expansion of the screen during the show to nearly surround the audience to the smells of apple pie and jasmine to the very effective lighting design (such as the theater being lite in a yellow/orange as the sun rises on the screen during the Lion King segment), the show is great. Most importantly, not since the Muppets have I seen a 4D show entertain and amaze each member of the crowd from 1 years old and up while not "scaring anyone to tears" in doing so. My only suggestions are to pick your seat carefully and prepare for a confusing line. Although the attraction is still in its infancy, the line is in much needed help. It is almost as if it wasn't designed to hold the crowds that are flocking to it now, resulting in the line clogging up the walkway between the building for the show and the Carousel. Not to mention that walkway was filled with strollers and wheelchairs. Also, for the optimal experience, I suggest sitting about halfway back in the theater as close to the center of a row as you can. Sitting on a far end or near the back takes away a lot of the impressiveness of the show, especially that of being immersed by the "expanding screen".
Come back Horizons! The 21st Century isn't done yet, we still need you! An Epcot best. It summed up everything in Future World.
My all-time favorite ride at WDW! I find their lack of seriousness hilarious! As both a Disney and Star Wars fan, kudos to George Lucas for creating an amazing attraction. No offense to Alien Encounter, but Star Tours is the original Disney-Lucas masterpiece!
Hey, all I can say is MuppetVision 3-D is and hopefully always will be my favorite 3-D show in all of WDW. A sad little sidenote: This was one of Jim Henson's last pieces of work with the Muppets. He is missed and will be greatly remembered
"Ellen's Energy Adventure" is a fun, epic ride and show that takes you through billions of years in time, all while teaching you small, interesting facts about energy, making you laugh, and, if nothing more, inspiring you to be a little more conservative with your own energy output. This attraction is a highly unique blend of IMAX theatre and slow moving dark ride - to my knowledge it has never been duplicated elswhere, and I'm quite surprised. While no other company than Disney would dare to be so bold as to actually try and teach you something, I could see plenty of other theme park chains coming up with their own more cartoonish verision of this concept. Then again, maybe that's where the "Spiderman" idea got started. Ellen Degeneres hits the perfect note for this ride/show by being naive, cute, and, of course, dryly hilarious, while Bill Nye gets to do what he does best - be a know-it-all, yet lovable geek. If you suffer from attention defecit disorder, or generally dislike slower, more educational rides, this one is probably not for you. If you like a little comedy, a little education, and a nice, long, 40 minute attraction that pulls you completely into its story, then this could very well end up being one of your favorite attractions - I know its one of mine.
It looks great as you enter, with the massive mountain range and an imaginably fun-filled day straight ahead, but the closer you get, the more disappointing this park is. The slides are sadly mediocore when you are actually on them, with no exceptions whatsoever. You'd think Disney would invent some new types of slides and slide elements, but they've done nothing more than take standard popular waterslides and put a bunch of plastic snow around them (which becomes quickly redudant as the day goes on). And I mean around them as in, when on the slide, this so-called theming goes completely unnoticed. This park is all looks from afar but all stereotypical waterslides up close. I can think of over a dozen waterparks right now that are bigger, better, and much more well made. Even the lazy river looks great on the map, but its truly lazy when you're on it. And don't get me started on the wading pool - er, I mean, wavepool. Don't buy into the hype. Go to Typhoon Lagoon instead, its a little better, or try Wet 'n Wild by Universal Studios - I hear they have some great slides over there. Or, don't waste your time at all with waterparks, because while the Orlando ones are highly hyped by the Disney-owned Travel Channel, they are probably no better than the ones closer to your own home town.
"Dreamflight", one of the most exciting dark rides to come out of the 80's, may very well go down as one of the most underrated attractions in Disney World History. It deserved a better fate, which it could have found by being placed in a more appropriate location - Epcot Center. Dreamflight explored the past, present, and future of air travel much the same way Epcot rides liked to explore the past, present, and future of other leading industries (transportation, communication, agriculture, etc.), but, unlike most of Epcot's now-extinct rides, this one was much shorter, but in that time packed a very exciting pace and punch. Around six minutes long, it was imaginably quite cheap to build, but still as inspiring and rewarding as any of the epic dark rides at Epcot. Also like most of Epcot's ghosts, this ride had an undeniably addictive soundtrack that had you humming the theme's chorus all day long. Heck, I still find myself humming it as I sit overwhelmingly bored on Buzz Lightyear, "Dreamflight"'s replacement that panders directly to the attention defecit disorder culture that now makes up the heavy bulk of Disney World guests. Call me crazy or just lame, but Buzz can't touch Dreamflight's fun and effectiveness at pulling you into its theme and staying with you for years afterwards. I still remember a ride on Dreamflight more accurately than I remember whatever the heck happened during my six minutes of spinning, shooting, and, well, well, whatever else happened on "Buzz Lightyear". And the best part of Dreamflight? Never a line. Unfortunately, that is probably also what ultimately ended the dream and grounded the flight.
This is definately an improvement over the last version, but not as good as the original. I thought it was very funny, and the only time I though Figment was a bit too obnoxiouse was when he smells Nigel Channing's Armpits and licks him on the cheek. Like somone else said, its about trying to let your imagination soar instead of controling it. It laughed out loud when Figment said "Imagination is such a blast!" BANG!!!!!!!!!!!! I do think they could've done more with all the extra space, but that's for another time.
The caves still bring out the kid in my husband and I. I wish the cannons and the rope-n-barrel walk were still working though. All in all, it's a great place to run around, or sit a spell.
One of the two top-themed, and the fourth best thrill in WDW (IMHO). If you do nothing else in the Magic Kingdom, do ride this one, but make sure you get your fast pass early or you're in for a looooooooong wait. "How Do You Do.....pretty good shore as yore born"
I still love this ride. I remember when you'd have two people sit in the car like a toboggan, the seated version is better. If you can sit in the very front, it's pretty cool. There's one spot where I swear I'm going to get my head taken off though.
Time to update this one. I feel for the castmembers who have to keep this old horse running. I haven't been on it in years, but I hear the same thing; kids 4-9 will love the thrill of 'driving', but those who are too young will scrape the rail, and those who are older will be bored to tears. (unless they're with their 4-9 yr old)
Do this one at night, it's Romantic if you're with your Honey, and the kids will find the sights more interesting. I really missed having the cannons on Tom Sawyer's Island firing away at us, but oh well.
This is a great way to catch your breath, while tapping your toes. Again, for those of us who remember the original Mickey Mouse Club, and Saturday nights with Uncle Walt, it'll bring back alot of fond memories and put you right in the Disney frame of mind.
I've been to WDW so many times since it opened, that I've lost count. In all that time, this year was the first that I actually went on the Peoplemover. Boy have I been missing out! What a great ride, it really wets your whistle for the attractions at tomorrowland, and gives you an interesting perspective on Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, ect. I'm going to ride this one every time I go!
This is one the whole family will enjoy, although, it's a shame that they couldn't have moved Mr. Toad to another spot instead of replacing it. Don't they have more acreage to spare?
The animatronics and the jokes need a thorough updating, but this ride is a keeper. It has all the Disney fantasy it should, but it just needs to be polished up a bit.
This is the perfect ride for kids under 9 yrs old, and people who are old enough to remember the original Disney Magic. Definately not for teens, since there's really no 'thrills' to it, but a must for the families with small ones.
I've never missed this one in all the times I've visted WDW or DL. The DL one has a better waterfall, and I love the cannons, but the details and the cue is much better at WDW.
What can you say about a ride this good. I have the Disney Theme Parks soundtrack in my car, and this one's in my top three favorites. The best time to go is on an E-ride night, especially near Halloween. I don't know why, but it's spookier then somehow. "Grim Grinning Ghosts Come Out to Socialize..."
Loved the original, like the new version but Godfried's voice is a bit much. That man could curl paint off a wall.
One of the best. Hope they're able to work the kinks out.
This was one of the few rides that brought the Disney Magic truly to life for me (as a grown-up). I keep hoping that they'll re-open it somewhere more appropriate, like Epcot. I just can't understand why, for the stupidity of a few bad parents, the rest of us should suffer it's absence. I went to the last showing of this ride, and even then, some insane woman had brough her 4-ish looking child onto the ride. Of course, we tried to talk her out of it, but she was heck-bent. Predictably, they had to stop the showing (luckily early enough) to let this looney out to console her child. There were plenty of warnings in the cue for the ride, and as far as I'm concerned, if you can't follow instructions you're just asking to be removed from the gene pool. This is like the instructions on a hair-dryer that tell you not to use it in the shower: it should be common sense not to bring your child onto a ride that has that many overt warnings. The rest of WDW shouldn't be punished for the stupidity of a few.
Ironically, this high-speed coaster attraction's strength and weakness comes from the very effectiveness of the job it did on simulating a high speed car ride: You start out fast, flooring it, feeling the rush; and then you cruise around, the wind in your hair, the rock music blasting; but then, ultimately, that faint feel of freedom must end, and usually too soon, as you are forced to slam on the brakes and go back to following the strict rules of the road. We want this ride to be longer, and faster. We want it to break out of the building and tear down the streets, but it can't. You would get pulled over eventually... You know, come to think of it, this ride is equally successful at simulating the quick blast rock stars have through pop culture fame in all the same ways! Wow, I wonder if that was intended... For better or worse, Disney has succeeded in creating the ultimate simulation of a high speed car cruising down the city streets. The surrounding theming is fine, but you just need a little bit more by the time it ends just a few seconds too soon. Add 30 seconds to the ride, and you've got a masterpiece. As it stands, though, this coaster still rocks quite bodaciously, and nothing can prepare you for the LIM-launch if its your first time onboard.
I'll make no dodges of what will soon be the plain and obvious truth. This is by far my favorite Walt Disney World attraction. Disney's "Dinosaur", a movie I haven't seen, has absolutely no relation to this attraction of the same name - a shameless marketing gimmic is what I've come to understand it as. It was previously called "Countdown to Extinction", which I rode when it was called that also - there is no difference, although you'll find many a Disney geek who swears with a passion that it was a better ride before the name change (they slowed it down; toned it down. all false - or if its true, not noticeable at all). The other beef Disney nerds/terds have against this attraction is that it is an exact clone of Disneyland's "Indiana Jones" ride, with Dino theming being substituted for Indy theming, of course. But I offer this chilling question: WHO GIVES A HOOT? I find it a very creative, not to mention challenging way, to clone a Disney ride without being completely unoriginal. It's better than there being two Indy's, as far as I'm concerned, since now I can go to Disneyland and have that surely amazing ride to experience for a first time some day. Now that we've got that out of the way, let's take a look at this amazing ride. "Dinosaur" is the perfect combination of a classic Disney dark ride and a top-notch thrill ride. It's like Space Mountain meeting Pirates of The Carribean and Star Tours - minus the outdatedness of the three, plus the cutting edge of theme park ride technology. If that formula is confusing to you, let me put it more simply. "Dinosaur" is a fast-paced time machine dark ride, where you are rocketed back in time to just before the massive meteor hits and ends most life on Earth. What are you doing there? You're there to kidnap a rare Dinosaur! But that won't be easy, of course, mostly because of the Dino's peers than the Dino itself (in fact, you'll find the Dino you're trying to catch rather friendly and helpful to your ultimate purpose: to stay alive!). Dodging comets, flying Dino's, and huge ones that like to chase time traveling tourists, you'll find the less than four minute ride to be more than long enough to completely satisify your themed adventure needs - unless you're not into that whole "We're gonna die!" thing, which I can understand, especially if you have a weak child - keep them away. "Dinosaur" is one of the best rides at Walt Disney World, and, even though it is in the worst park of the four, it alone makes it worth a trip, but I suggest you do it with a park hopper - I wouldn't pay a full day's admission to come and do this alone, especially considering that the types who will love this ride may very well hate the rest of the park. Have fun...
This is the best attraction for children of all ages! I highly recommend this as the first stop after Playhouse Disney for parents of young kids.
If only the line moved a little quicker, and the fastpass had it's own car. I went twice in October, and both times the ride broke-down, the cue was over an hour for fastpass return, and my ride was so short that I couldn't believe the changes were supposed to be IMPROVEMENTS. All in all, this is the best ride at WDW, but with a little tweaking, it could be the best in Florida.
My 20 month old went berzerk in here, and so did my husband and I. This is the best place to hit before the park closes, especially if you want the kids to knock-off early and give you some grown-up time! This is one of the few playgrounds anywhere that I've enjoyed as much as my daughter, although I'm going to plan to be in way better shape next time!
"Kilimanjaro Safaris" is perhaps the best ride ever created by Disney, and it is owed to its ability to blend what was great in Disney's past with what is great in Disney's present and perceivable future. It combines education and adventure so seamlessly that it truly is a knowledge adventure. Even moving through the queue, you are already being set up for this ride's powerful conservation message: stop poaching, and help protect wildlife. By the time you are onboard one of the 32-passenger Safai vehicles, you are already feeling inspired to help, and excited to get a look at what a perfect Africa would look like, and that's exactly what you are shown. There are essentially two stories to this ride. For one, you are chasing down poachers who have kidnapped a baby elephant, and the other one is that you are on a two week safari in Africa, looking for wildlife of all types while learning a great deal about those you spot from the onboard driver/guide. Gone almost completely are those timeless Disney attractions, but there is an exception, and you'll find it on this ride. The Animals are real, and can roam freely across the amazingly realistic wide open savannah's and forests, therefore no ride is exactly the same, which brings great adventure to the even less adventurous of the two storylines. The chasing down of poachers keeps the thrill element of the new Disney direction alive, but it is balanced so well with a purpose of good so that most weak children won't fear the adventure as much as truly hope that it will be successful. While the trucks rarely top 12MPH, you'd swear you are going at least 30 as you roar through the climax, hot on the poacher's heels - much the same as you think you're going the speed of light on Space Mountain when you actually never top 30MPH. The only negative of this attraction is a wildcard that can be as good as it is bad - the drivers. Since Disney has yet to find an animatronic that can drive a 9 ton vehicle, real drivers and safari guides give the show, and they aren't paid any more than an everyday ride operator would (meaning they aren't the same entertainment caliber as someone who would play Cinderella or Donald Duck). But there are as many fantastic drivers as there are average to bad ones, which is another way that this ride should promise to stay fresh. While Animal Kingdom is Disney's worst park, it is ironically home to two of Disney's best rides in history - Dinosaur, a whimsical blast through time, and Kilimajaro Safaris, a ride that would no doubt bring tears of joy to Walt Disney's eyes.
Mickey's Phillarmagic is the newest addition to "The Magic Kingdom." This addition is an extremely positive addition that continues the grand tradition of Disney style stortelling and wizardy. The attraction showcases the many wonderful moments that make Disney so awesome. Although many complain about the line's themeing I think it is very plush and effectivly tells the pre-story with re-creating the theme of an opera house with many Disney touches. Once inside the theatre you find a very plusg looking enviorment with a very detailed prosceium above the stage. Then the show begins. (SPOILERS) The show opens with the red velvet curtain opening to reveal the stage with nothing on it. Donald goes on thev stage and puts on the Sorcerer Hat, suddenly the musical instruments begin to swerve everywhere and a heavy wind blows in your face.Suddenly the theatre goes black and the golden procesium is gone and instead a screen is wrapped around you. The next that follows involes smells, fog, IMAX, the best 3-D effects in a 3-D show, convincing lighting effects that go hand in hand with the action. All of the special effects are done tastefully and are used to compliment the show not to be there (Shrek 4-D does not use the effects to compliment but the latter.) One interesting thing is that in the transformation back to the orginal theatre the golden procesium drops like fabric, which looks awesome when you see this thing fall down that looks like fabric falling bu becomes solid. The show features a tribute to the previous attraction that filled it before the Legend of the Lion King (The Mickey Mouse Revue) playing that famous song (M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E) that is perfectly orchestrated by the Fantasyland Phillarmagic Orchestra. This attraction is an awesome attraction that i could ride over and over. This show really is an awesome showcase of the many moments of magic that we have come to expect from Disney. A hit with me and (judging from the line times) the public. "Mickey's Phillarmagic" is truly magical!
We were warned by a friend not, under any circumstances, to ride MS as it would definately make us sick. Pah!!! We rode it 5 times! I have to say that after the non-stop warnings about the effect of the ride my heart was pounding as I rode for the first time. But, what a blast..the launch is incredible as is the landing on Mars although the last time I rode I had the whole capsule to myself and how I made it to Mars without a Co-pilot, Commander or engineer I'll never know. Didn't feel in any way sick but saw plenty who were. I do agree that it could become dated quite quickly but at the moment it is the best simulator in Orlando by a mile.
I have to say that I'm getting a little bored of all the 3D shows but Philharmagic renewed my faith. Great sound, great music, great effects and an all round treat. Once the screen stretches round to it's fullest extent the overall effect is dazzling. However, Disney and Universal please note - no more 3D!!
I wasn't TOO wow'ed by Spectro Magic. For some reasons, I didn't find the transitions that good, the music seeming to fade out and in without much of a transitory background. The sets were nice, I admit, but I didn't feel they were too 'magical.' Fun? Yes. Except for those EVIL things at the beginning. Those things are EVIL. Ugh. Yuck. Go away. Eaugh. Magical though. I'm actually listening to the beautiful theme song as I play it.
This is my most favorite show at WDW! It is truly Disney! I have never seen anything like it before in my life. It is a must-see for my family and I.
This is a BEAUTIFULLY made showcase of animation. It varies in style from scene to scene, but is never short of laugh or gasp. Do not miss the attraction! Although it's somewhat weak, I believe it's a fair balance of a "Fantasyland Theater" performance and fun-filled artistry.
This is probably the best fireworks show I've seen out of Disney. It's a timeless show of technology and awe - nostalgic and inspiring. Do NOT miss it!
"Pangani Forest Exploration Trail" is to titles what this attraction is to Disney quality. If you have ever been to a Zoo, you have already done this, and not only that, you've probably done it in a much less crowded area and in a much more relaxing enviroment. I never could quite put my finger on it, but there is no sense of nature as you walk the path, even though there are animals everywhere (but you might not see them) and you are surrounded by dense forest. This attraction was a great idea, but the result was far from enjoyable. Too long; too many people being lured into this area by "Kilimanjaro Safaris" drivers who are required to plug it; too few animals and too long of a path, "Pangani Forest Exploration Trail" gets no more exciting than saying its name three times fast. Skip it if you can, especially if you're on vacation with a Park Hopper and want to make sure you see all of Disney's quality attractions before you leave. Tip: If you're in Central Florida and want to see how this idea is done correctly, take a trip to Busch Gardens and check out their own, more rewarding version of this concept, called "Edge of Africa". You'll have plenty of space to take your time and enjoy the animals, with very few people around to clutter up that sense of being on safari that would otherwise be there.
You just cannot match the quality of the Magic Kingdom. It is aging SO quickly but you just really can't see it within the park. Everything is kept up to date and thrills guests as it has for the past 32 years.
"Mickey's Philharmagic" is a misleading title, and I'm glad for it. Mickey Mouse, who would have lost his appeal twenty years ago if not for Disney completely inflating his image by stamping his ears upon everything but the toilet paper (then again, it has been awhile since i sat on a disney toilet), has only about thirty seconds in this show. The real stars of this film are the stars we enjoy to see, such as Donald Duck, Peter Pan, Aladdin/Jasmine, The Little Mermaid, and the cast of the greatest music video that never was, "Be our Guest", and a few others that are all very welcome here. The use of space in this, the former building of "Legend of The Lion King" (a puppet show, more or less), is highly impressive. There is a pleasant indoor queue and a unique "lobby" area that keeps the crowds flowing. The absence of a pre-show is unfortunate, however, but I walked right in, so didn't have to worry about it. The theatre itself is pretty, and it somehow succeeds at portraying a classic conert hall despite the fact that most of it is set up by mere lights and curtains. The in-theater effects show the traces of some very intelligent Imagineers at work; Imagineers who know what 4d(3d plus theater effects) shows are all about. They seem to have learned from their other 4d projects and ecompassed the finer qualities of those with some brand new ideas as well. One of the best moments of the film involves in-theater effects, when a 3d apple pie stands right in front of your face and you can actually smell it thanks to some good old-fashioned smell cannons. Excellent. There is only one flaw with this film, but it is an unfortunately reoccuring one that will not go unnoticed. Several of the characters, converted to computerized graphics for the first time in history, look, well, to put it bluntly - they look awful. Aladdin looks like he needs a dentist, Ariel looks like she needs to start trying a new shampoo and FAST, and the actual orchestra that Mickey is supposed to be conducting looks fuzzy at best. Yet at other times, the CG is the best it has ever been, such as in the Lion King sequence, which, if I'm not mistaken, is the first moment in the film where the entire screen is revealed (the world's largest seamless screen, by the way), and, my favorite scene, where we are suddenly flying above the London rooftops with Peter Pan - a truly classic Disney moment that will not be forgotten (but why did Donald need Pixie Dust? He's a duck!). This strange hit-and-miss result with Disney's computer graphics stinks of a hurried project. Some characters look completely unfinished, or at least I hope that is the case, because if the best Disney can do is to make Ariel look scarrier than Ursula, then something needs to change here. Imperfections aside, Mickey's Philharmagic is a truly magical journey through the best of Disney's films. It is well placed and extremely well timed, and quite easily addictive. Perhaps it is because this show is so darn near a complete masterpiece that its flaws stick out like bad teeth on a pretty princess - or prince.
Mission: Space offers one of the best first-time riding experiences on and off of this planet and simply cannot be passed up if you are going to visit Epcot. The anticipation for the launch and the adrenaline that surges once you feel the rockets fire are all completely cool and new experiences that are owed to all of the self-hype that the ride's two pre-shows produce via repeated safety warnings. Yet somehow, a day or so after riding, I find "space" easy to forget about, and hard to have any deep desire to want to ride again. Sure, I'll go back on it if I am in the park and have time, but gone and fading fast it seems are those Disney rides that had a timeless quality to them. This ride seems destined to become outdated, and while I know Disney will change it to "Mission: (insert some other planet name)" one day, the idea of this attraction already feels tired. Adventure rides are fun, but they also wear out their welcome very quickly (been on Star Tours lately?). The ride theme centers around, obviously, a mission into space and a journey to Mars. Gary Sinise is your narrator, and although a great actor, it is hard not to giggle when you first see him (I heard a lot of people around me chuckling too, and a few people even shouted "Lieutenant Dan!" in that Alabama accent of Forest Gump). The graphics are mediocore to cartoonish, the sound is nearly depressing if you recall the beautiful music that this ride's predecessor contained, and the overall tone and storyline has an unmistakably B-movie feel to it. The bread and butter for this ride is the thrills. When you are launching straight into space, slingshotting around the moon, and descending upon the Mars atmosphere, you really do feel like you're there. Other times, though, including the rides lackluster climax, you catch yourself thinking about things that have nothing to with the ride, and that's never a good sign. The final scene of the attraction feels very forced, and I am surprised to hear some say that the ride was too short, because by the finish I was rolling my eyes sarcastically at the poor finale while also wishing to leave. Mission: Space offers some spectacular new thrills, but it ultimately comes up short as Disney's newest and biggest ride. I'd still rather ride Pirates of The Carribean for the 200th time than take a trip into "space" for a 2nd.
Tower of Terror is one of the best rides I have ever been on!! I love it, you can go on it again and again and have fun every time =)
Mission: Space is just awesome!! The best attraction at Epcot =) If this is a sign of coming attractions Epcot is soon to be one of the most thrilling parks in the world...
mickey's philharmagic is gonna be the best show in 3D i love it so much so i will see this again in December 10, 2003.
I am a huge Disney fan and I actually chose to avoid reading anything about this attraction until I was able to see it. (Having read various reviews for Mission:Space, my expectations were not met.) Thus, I had no specific expectations for Philharmagic, only that it was a 3-D film featuring orchestrated music. First, the pre-show area is weak. The queue continues once you step indoors, with nothing more to entertain the eye than a large mural and some colorful posters. This area's audio is too low to hear over the talking crowds. I have a problem with the posters in this area. They are attractive and somewhat humorous, but also very misleading. They show "featured" characters appearing "in concert," but the majority of the characters on the posters are not actually in the attraction show. This is misleading and surely generates disappointment when fans of Geni (Aladdin) - who has his own poster in the queue area - is not in the 3-D film. It would have been very easy for WDI to only create posters for characters who are actually in the film. The next room that leads to the theater doors has no theming at all. Granted, most auditoriums don't have "themed lobbies," but this is not a regular auditorium, it's a Disney attraction. Just think about how heavily and cleverly themed pre-show area for "It's Tough To Be A Bug." Philharmagic is the opposite. There is no "actual" pre show, something that the Legend of the Lion King had - and quite an elaborate one. Once the doors open and everyone is seated, we hear some voices talking form "behind the curtain." Minnie welcomes us, and the show sort of "softly begins." There's no real "bang" or excitement, it just begins. The show probably wouldn't have the attention of the audience if the theater lights didn't dim. The "stage" is framed with traditional theater style pillars and arch, which "raise up" revealing the panoramic screen a few moments into the film. When this happens it goes almost un-noticed due to the way the film is edited, it's dark when the frame is lifted. This is a neat effect, or "should be" a neat effect. They should have put more emphasis on the fact that the screen was becoming much larger, and not softly eased into it. That way the "panoramic" view would seem that much more impressive. The film itself - hmmmm, where to begin. The theme is weak. Donald puts on Mickey's magic hat and gets "sucked into" this series of various scenes from classic Disney movies. Mind you, this is all for no particular reason - there doesn't seem to be much motivation. In fact, Donald is asleep when the film begins. Then he wakes up and just feels the urge to put Mickey's hat on. I know they (WDI) could have done better than that. The animation itself is probably my biggest issue with the attraction. The disney characters look quite different from their original - hand-drawn likenesses. In fact, the whole film feels like I'm playing a Disney Sony Playstation 2 game. The characters look horrible. They look "cartoony," with smoothed over features. The characters in Finding Nemo look 100 times better. If we had nothing to compare them too, it might not be as big of a problem, but we do have something to compare them to, the original movies, which many of the audience memebers have seen. I would expect to see characters rendered like this in a video game, but not in a feature attraction. On a somewhat technical note, the "panoramic screen" is really the result of pairs of projectors split into 3 sections. Although the screen is all one piece, there are obvious "seems" between the 3 sections. In some clips they try to hide this by using illustrated dividers in the film, but even then it's still obvious. If they don't currently have the technology to seamlessly blend 3 3-D film sections together, they shouldn't have tried to do so. And with IMAX screens showing 3-D films nowadays, you know the technology is available. They should have either spent the money to do it right, or not have done it at all. The "interactive" special effects are not new. Smells (apple pie), bursts of air, water, and an animatronic are all things we've seen before. They are "fun," not not particularly innovative. Are all of my opinions of this attraction negative? No! The attraction is fun and family-friendly. The best scenes in the film are during the Peter Pan and Aladdin segments (which are sequential in this film) because they involve flying through city streets and because it's in 3-D the sensation of motion is very realistic. I would have preferred that the entire attraction be based on a "carpet ride" through the city streets from Aladdin, as this is the obvious highlight of the film. The animators did a good job rendering the buildings and other exteriors for this section, so why couldn't they put the same effort into the appearance of the characters? Much of the film is static (not much "camera" motion), which makes the flying sections a highlight. The film would be a lot more exciting if they would have done more "flying camera" movements throughout the film. An example of this would be "floating" through the castle from Beauty and the Beast, or "swimming" through underwater caverns before we actually meet Ariel, etc. The humor is a little on the "cheesy" side, but it's pleasantly funny nevertheless. With such a large auditorium they should have done more of a "stadium seating" effect so that everyone would have a good view of the screen. (3-D effects are grossly weakened if you have a large head in the way sitting directly in front of you.) And with a majority of movie theaters going to stadium seating nowadays, there's no excuse not to. The audio system could have been a little bit better. Maybe they need more speakers, maybe they just need to be louder, regardless, it could be a little bit more on the "powerful" side, especially with all that great music. I would recommend seeing this attraction. It's fun and creative. Could the people at Disney have done a *much* better job? I personally think so. After seeing it once, I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes or so in line to see it again. Muppets 3-D, despite its age, is an example of a 3-D show done "right." It is still impressive even today, and could easily compete with the much newer Philharmagic. Philharmagic makes me feel as though Disney has cut many-a-corner with what could have been a great attraction. Instead they created a "good" attraction, which leaves me wondering "why?" Timekeeper
Although this type of attraction can be found elsewhere it is still pretty good. It is not a Disney type attraction, but it is still a blast to the past. I find the area that the attraction is to be a big waste of "carnival" or "DCA" space, but the ride is self is pretty darn good!
I was looking to seeing this delightful new Disney 3D musical for a long time…and I love it! It’s very funny, entertaining and one of the few new Disney park attractions to actually have a classic Disney look and feel to it, IMO. The CG renditions of the characters were nicely done and look so real. I find myself laughing when I see this film and sometimes even when I think about it. For instance, Goofy is funny (even though we don’t “see†him here) and Donald’s antics are classic (including his cute interactions with Ariel, which I really like). The animatronic Donald at the end is quite amusing too. The special effects were nice, including the pastry and jasmine scents (wonderful smells indeed). The waiting room reminds me of an actual theater and classic Disney. The air-conditioning inside and the music in both the queue and the show are nice. IMO, a PhilharMagical (and PhilharFunny) new classic. Can’t wait to take in more viewings. The remodeled "Fantasy Faire" shop looks pretty nice too.
For me, PrimEVIL Whirl was a complete waste of space and money. It came at a time when AK was desperate to add something new, but at that time money was not available for the recently announced Expedition Everest. Rather than have nothing new at all, Disney decided to invest in this totally off-the-shelf, almost portable, coaster. Themeing resembles that of a concrete parking lot, and the ugly structure of the coaster is simply dropped on top. It is the most non-Disney attraction anywhere, and in my opinion has no place in a Disney park. The only saving point, is that it is relatively tucked out the way, and I can completely bypass it on my trips!
The ride was truly fantastic and wasn't a let down. Although the weightlessness part was average, the realism of the launch and accelerations were truly unique and awesome, giving you a real sense of the intensity astronauts endure during space trips. Sometimes reality can truly be more intense and scary than theme parks thrill rides.
What a rush. Incredible! Disney did a great job with this attraction. Worth the wait. THe interior is very nice and has a ton of history in it. You can spend well over an hour at this attraction with all the extras thay have included at the end.
The future just got a little more exciting with the addition of this great ride. Guests can experience the feel that astronauts get when they board the ride and set on a realistic trip to Mars. The combination of film and movement is incredable, much improved since the late 80s Star Tours and Body Wars attractions. The queue may leave something to be desired, the ride more than makes up for it. Even the facade is great, definatly adding a bit more whimsey to an area that definatly needs it. All in all, this is one of the best additions to the park in a while and my new favorite Future World attraction.
This is my favorite Disney park. I appreciate the educational value more than anything. I really hate to see the park being geared to more of a action theme instead of a knowledge theme. Spaceship Earth is my favorite and was the first thing I did when I went to Epcot back after it first opened. I have to see that this attraction is going to be changed. Nevertheless, Canada and Norway are my favorite pavillions, and its great to have Figmant back. :)
For me.. I guess you could say I get bored quick, don't jump on me and say I am young and don't appreciate theming *I DO!!*. It needs one really thrilling ride. Space mountain and splash mountain have good themes and are great rides but just don't have a high thrill factor. And just to prove to you I love theming Epcot is my favorite park and most of the youth hates it, I love the educational parts.. figment is a fun ride as with HISTA and I love the living sea's, test track and mission:space are great bonus'es. John
This is my favorite park, with the addition of Mission:Space the park is all I think about lately. If you go to Epcot don't miss Space! John
I agree with grizzlyhall on this one. I miss the old Imageworks... as far as I'm concerned it's now one big Kodak commercial. For that matter, what's up with the pre-show for Honey I Shrunk...? Did they ever consider a theme RELATED to the show, and not some 5 minute sappy Kodak commercial? Please...bring back Figment, Imageworks, and give us a decent pre-show.
This is one of the best attractions at MGM-Studios! Alright already----please buy the Muppets! This has one of the best pre-show/que areas in all of WDW! You should skip the first available show to look all around the adorable pre-show/que area! The theming, story, and 3D effects are awesome. A must do every visit. I love the Pittsburgh joke!
This is an awesome first ride at Disney MGM-Studios. It makes you connect to the Hollywood movie magic and should be the first attraction that anyone visits to thrust themselves into that Hollywood feel at Disney MGM-Studios. The only problem is that sometimes the audio with your tour guide is poor and difficult to hear especially during the interaction scenes. Well, ok the other problem is the lack of a post show/merchandise area at the attraction, but then sometimes it's nice not to have to exit through a gift shop.
Ugh. Sorry to be so blunt, but if possible, I consider this worse than the interim ride through the Imagination Institute. I tend to agree with others--Figment was rude & obnoxious...no "Dash of childish delight" this time around. I would gladly front Disney the money to restore this ride to its original form. Personally, this stunk more than the skunk scent in the Smell Lab.
Overall, I enjoyed Mission: Space, rode it 5 times throughout the day. I would have liked more interactivity during the ride, and for that matter, a ride longer than 4 minutes. I thought the time between the pre-show and boarding could be used more efficiently, there was some "dead air" between videos. Later in the day there were also some technical delays and the lack of filler material made the time pass slowly. Bottom line - excellent ride, definitely worth checking out. Although I miss Horizons dearly and don't think it was worth tearing it down to build another ride. There's 47 square miles available to Disney...
The theming really stands out on this ride. You really go through some classics. This is better than anything Universal has to offer. In my opinion, this is the second best attraction that is currently standing at WDW, third best ever.
What a great attraction! It really teaches you the efforts that we're making to keep the Earth healthy, and things that we're doing that is killing the Earth. Interesting to see the different ways to garden. Intersting, educational, and fun! The only downside, is that the queue can get long.
The Haunted Mansion is a visual work of art. Macabre humor, excellent effects, and an altogether engrossing attraction. Impressive AND entertaining - a real winner.
The jokes come fast and furious on this river adventure. The three continents you explore (complete with audio-animatronic animals) are merely fodder for the skipper's stand-up routine. The Jungle Cruise is definitely one of the funniest attractions on the Disney property, but not THE funniest (Muppetvision 3D has THAT title).
The attention to detail here is phenomenal, in both the ride and the queue. Given what Disney was trying to do with this attraction, it could not have been executed much better. That said, however, the ride itself is not particularly exciting and the storyline is not particularly compelling. There's definitely a "cool" factor associated with this ride, and it's worthy of admiration for its theming, but it's not dazzling.
This attraction has a number of problems - the music is so-so, the humor just isn't there (save a couple of cute comments by the heads on the wall), and it's a tad long. It held the 4 and 6-year olds' interest for most of it, but the 8-year old and I were pretty bored by the end. On the plus side: similar to "it's a small world", this is a relaxing, air conditioned way to calm kids while you wait for your FastPasses to activate.
My whole family enjoyed what my kids call the "fast train". You have to ride it a couple of times to catch all of the scenery ... you zip past it pretty quickly. When you do see it, you'll appreciate the details - the mountain itself, the mining equipment, etc. Great ride!
Mission:Space gets high marks from me for nearly everything. This is a superb attraction with an out-of-this-world (heh) simulator. However, simulators make me dizzy and spinning rides make me sick to my stomach. This ride did both. While the physical experience was unpleasant enough that I won't ride again, I could not help but admire what Disney was able to simulate.
The pre-show with Ellen DeGeneres is the most entertaining part of this attraction. Very funny. It also sets the stage nicely for the rest of the attraction, which contains a plethora of energy-related information presented in a fun way.
The viking ship ride is exciting (especially for kids) and the film is a short but interesting tribute to the spirit of Norway. Recommended.
The concept (Florida had a freak snowstorm, a ski lodge was built, and when the weather warmed the lodge was turned into a water park) is flawlessly executed. The "ski lift" is still in place and takes you up the mountain to the slides. The family raft ride (Teamboat Springs) is the best of its kind I've ever experienced. One other note: We went on a Sunday morning in August during a steady rain. The park was empty. On a crowded day, the park is probably less enjoyable.
This show is a dazzling visual and audio spectacle presented as theater in the round. It will entertain and delight you and your kids. The colorful and imaginative costumes are particularly impressive. Also, any show featuring sections of the crowd dueling in a sing-along of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is OK by me.
This attraction is really a mini-museum dedicated to Walt Disney. If you like museums or are a Disney freak (especially if both are true), you will enjoy this attraction and go through it at a rate much slower than your kids would prefer.
The beginning of the ride part of this attraction is incredibly thrilling. Your limo shoots into a tunnel at a furious speed, and you can no longer see where the track goes. Great adrenaline rush. The pre-show with Aerosmith is fun and sets up the ride part nicely.
Disney has done a fantastic job recreating the Who Wants to be a Millionaire set. The host we saw was charming and clever. The atmosphere is electric - frequent applause, loud cheering. This (and the interactive element of pushing the answer buttons) kept the kids engaged and amused. In both games, my wife and I answered correctly on each question and pressed the button IMMEDIATELY after the lights lit, but we never appeared in the Top Ten Players List. Apparently, it's tough to get in the Hot Seat.
I can't believe its been 27 years since we saw this parade. Spent the July 4th weekend at WDW. Parade very friendly and most everyone joined in at the tail end of the parade singing This Land is Your Land. Like to do it again.
Just slides and slides - no other attraction other than the Lazy River
If you like (or love) the Muppets, you won't want to miss this. Even if you've never seen a Muppet in your life, you'll enjoy this sweet 3-D show. The whole cast is there, and pitch perfect! Don't miss it!
Because it's housed in Epcot's signature structure (the giant golfball), and is right at the entrance, Spaceship Earth attracts visitors like a magnet attracts iron filings. You'd probably do better early in the morning to go ride some of the more in demand rides, like Test Track and Mission: Space, and then come back to this fascinating look at the history of communication. As always, Disney has outdone itself in the creation of animatronic characters. It's a sedate, dark ride, but interesting.
The best Disney attraction ever. It delivers where others dissapoint. You will be missed!
This is a great dinosaur ride, but I wouldn't recommend it for children because it is quite intense. The story is very cute. You and your party are going to be sent back into time to observe conditions when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. But your mission is hijacked by an eager young scientist who gives your party a secret mission: bring back an iguanodon. The ride is bumpy and jerky, and there are storms and menacing dinosaurs, but it's good fun.
but this could use some punching up. The tour starts off with a demonstration of special effects using members of the audience who are placed about a boat set and deluged with water while they try to act out a scene. The the audience boards a tram and rides through the backlot area where there are a number of old props, and something called residential street. Residential street is being torn down and replaced, so that part of the tour has probably been cut. Then it's on to the best part of the tour: Catastrophe Canyon! That scene is quite a bit of fun. This is an entertaining diversion.
This is probably one of the most classic rides in disney right behind Carrosel of Progress.
What more could a big (or little) kid ask for? Buzz Lightyear is just plain fun! You ride through a shootin' gallery of baddies, firing your laser gun at them, trying to rack up the biggest score you can. This is the kind of ride everyone in the family can enjoy.
First, I strongly recommend against taking your kids on this attraction. Even though you go in knowing that it's all just a show, it still gets pretty scary. I've seen more than a few kids have a meltdown in Alien Encounter. Heck, the first time I went on it, it scared the socks off of me. That said, this is a fun attraction for people who enjoy very dark humor and don't scare easily. But let the kids go on Buzz Lightyear, instead...
This is a great ride, probably the best ever. But, I felt woozy for hours afterward and will not ride it again. My wife loved it, went on it again and again, and felt no problems. It definatly depends on the person.
I think this is a great way to relax. Since I usually start my day at MK at AdventureLand....by the time I make it to TomorrowLand I am ready for a break. This is a great way to relax and move around or should I say above everybody. Another must do.
Okay...yes its old....yes its the same as the last time you got on it....so why do it again????? Same reason we do Dumbo and Peter Pan and even Snow White....cause they are classics. FantasyLand is all about cute little "FANTASY" rides. This one is just cute. Relaxing. Nice cold A/C and again a classic. A trip to MK should include this classic.
This show is a classic. Its still fun to sit back and take a load off your feet....while the birds, flowers and even the walls come to life. The theming is beautiful as it was when I first went as a child. The new show they have right now is cute and has a modern flavor to it....which is good for todays kids and teens....but I still love the old classic show. Still a must do for the whole family.
I rode Mission SPACE during the Annual Passholder preview weekend (8/1 thru 8/3). The experience was incredible, to say the least! The preshow/queue area is VERY cool, with a huge model of a space station broken down into living quarters, labs, etc. Very detailed and worth stopping to look at, even if there isn't a line. (Unlikely once this ride opens to the general public!) The preshow continues as your segmented into "teams" and moved into a room with a "briefing" by Gary Sinise, the CAPCOM for the Mission. The briefing builds your anticipation and overall tension as you're told that you may leave the queue at any time before boarding the spacecraft. This is repeated several times during the preshow experience due to the unusual nature of the ride and it's effects on anyone who may experience discomfort from spinning or simulator-type rides. The briefing completed, you move into the "pre-board" area where another CAPCOM briefing is given and a uniformed castmember gives you last minute instructions. (I won't give details, I'll let someone else ruin it for you! ) The doors open and you enter the spacecraft. All four members of your "crew" have a job to do during the flight, to enhance the interactive experience. The ride itself is, in a word, awesome! From liftoff to landing, I felt as thought I were experiencing space flight. (Or what a layperson would expect it to feel like...) I didn't feel any spinning feelings at all, but the G-forces and turbulence were all there. The story line was great and the physical experience a lot of fun. I am a huge thrill ride fan and this ride delivers in all areas. If you get queasy on simulators or roller coasters, you may experience discomfort on this ride, but it's not as rough as it sounds. Fellow "Coaster Freeks" will love this ride!
I think this is a GREAT RIDE. I agree with the rest on the fact that this is THE ride to go to AK for. Most rides at AK are good...but this takes the prize. A must do.
This is one which people tend to just by pass all the time. I will actually make the time to sit for a while in the eveings and have a turkey leg or a drink while enjoying the view and sounds. Fountain show is great. I love it in the month of December. The show extends beyond the fountain and also includes the lighted archway which leads to worldshowcase. So you have x-mas music going on....fountains dance and the lighted archway also blinks to the sounds. BEAUTIFUL show. Take the time to enjoy it. ((especially at night))
This is one hell of a ride, some people will not be able to handle the effects of the sim. My sister would not ride M:S until after her boyfriend and I test rode it. She gets sick easy on simulators or spinning rides. I rode it and instantly loved it, him and I talked her into going on the ride. We told her that you would not feel any spinning, well sad, but true she got sick, and we felt a little bad about that :( .. She vowed never to ride M:S again. I had blast on it, it felt a little short though and the ending was less than dramatic. The effects were awsome, and I wish you could crash the capsule :) this was during the passholder Preview
If you can't fit in an airline seat, forget about this ride. The seats are small, the front panel comes at you and the shoulder restraints are tight. I didn't feel the spinning action but did experience nausea and lightheadedness for several hours afterwards. I wanted off the ride seconds after the lift off but of course, like any other ride, there is no way to stop it. But unlike any other ride, this one was physically uncomfortable. So, I won't be riding it again. I am still very impressed with the concept and can easily tell that a ton of money was spent on it. I would like to know if I could go on the ride and not have it spin (like riding Body Wars without the motion).
Not nearly as intense as some would have you believe. But still probably the best simulator ride on property.
Could have been longer - do I see a Tower of Terror redo possibly here? Went during Passholder weekend - no lines. The ride is excellend and would reccomend it for everybody!
Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress is definatly starting to show it's age. The idea is intreeging- follow progress throughout the 20th Century with an avaeage American family. the gimicry of having the theater rotate around the stage is also very interesting and differet. Most of the humor is somewhat dated, but still manages to be entertaining. Other than that, however, the show seems a bit hokey. Most of the action of the ride consists of the Carousel family patriach showing everyone his new dishwashers, ovens, blenders, and other such household appliances. It still has the same feeling that you are seeing an over-glorified commercial for GE appliances. Add to that that the animatronics are looking very old, especially compared to animatronics at nearby Alien Encounter and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. Some changes are definatly needed at the Carousel, but, even with its flaws, it's still enjoyable and entertaining.
This ties and possibly beats Tower of Terror for best ride. The queue and the preshows make you feel like you are really going on a mission to mars. Also the heart beating music and than the really NASA type music really sets the tone. Although the ride is a little short and the ending isn't the greatest, the lift off and landing on mars make up for it. And as long as you follow the saftey instructions, you won't get sick.
You know that giant slingshot at Old Town? The launch on this ride feels just like the launch on the slingshot. I could feel my cheeks pull back. Just truly awsome.
For thrill I only gave this a "GOOD" only because i just got back from Paris and the Pirate ride in Paris is geat with two drops and a looonger ride....but I still love ours...its a classic.
I only gave BTM a "GOOD" for thrill only because I just got back from Paris and can tell you the BTM in paris has more thrills then ours. But still BTM is a great ride and I always look foward to getting on.......a must!
Yes its just a good park. I go to AK once a year.....maybe! Its so small...that you can plan on NOT spending a full day. This is a good park to like do half a day and plan an afternoon/evening at DownTown Disney or something. I like the theming of it....I think the idea is there...but they must spend more money and making it larger and adding more rides and attractions. Still a good park to visit.
What can I tell you that you dont know already....its a one of a kind park. NO other park can come close to it. Sure other parks have major thrill rides which we enjoy....but which park takes you away and makes you feel like your in another world??? None other then WDW. Fantastic for all ages. Love it!
My favorite park since I went as a child. You have Spaceship Earth for a relaxing history lesson....to Test Track for a grean thrill to Living Seas...for an upclose encounter with sea creatures....its all in Future World. World Showcase is unreal. Try diffrent foods and see diffrent shwos from all around. I go to Epcot about 3 times a year and I continue to be surprised.
I must say, with the exception that I get a bit dizzy from virtual type rides like this or Star tours ( or videos games for that fact) This ride is a MUST at least once. Very cool, very intense and the beginning is SO realistic it is AMAZING! Great job by Disney!!
I love this ride so much. I have been on it five time and still cant get enought of it. It is the best ride Disney has made in a while. Its good to know the magic of Disney is still there.
I loved the ride. It was very impressive. I kept getting off and getting back in line. I really enjoyed it. Hats off to the imagineers that thought this thing up.
I have a slight case of colsterphobia and for me the ride was great. I guess because i knew that it wouldnt last 2 hrs. But over all the best was the takeoff for me and the people in the pod with me didnt help when we landed so we crashed. but overall we had a great expierence. DONT GO ON 2x in a row..we didnt feel good for a day or so. MUST DO AT LEAST ONCE.
This is an O.K. park, but it needs more attractions and animal walk-throughs. Overall, it just needs more. On the positive side, it is the most impressively themed park out of the four.
I have to say that this is the only park out of the four that has gotten better since it's opening. Don't get me wrong, I love all of the parks, but, recently, they've been replacing excellent attractrions with mediocre ones, and MGM hasn't seemed to have been doing this. Come during Christmas time!
Wow, this park is still great after all these years. You would never guess that this park opened in 1971. It looks much better than most new parks. Very much to do for everyone, too.
Even though it used to be even better, I still think that this is the best park. Everything is top-notch, except for the theming. World Showcase is very well themed, but Future World is kind of lacking in that department.
Wow.... That's all you need to know. This ride blows all others out of the water. It's hands down the best non-coaster ride ever and the one of the best rides ever, including coasters. This is to Star Tours what Rock n' Rollercoaster was to Space Mountain.
This is the ride to save Epcot! Although I was very scared from the millions of warning-signs you pass on your way to the capsule, I went on and it was the most amazing experience ever!! Don't let everyone fool you with stories about people getting sick and feeling bad for days. I don't have the best stomach and I didn't feel sick at all after riding four times. You don't feel it spinning at all and if you can do any other simulator, you'll be fine. You just don't want to miss this ride, that leaves you speechless!!!
This has become my favorite thrill ride, ANYWHERE... It's definately going to give the other guys down the street (NOT naming any names) a run for their money... It's a true Disney attraction, done with Disney style.
MS is a good addition to EPCOT. My feelings/opinions on this ride probably will fall in the middle of the overall spectrum. It is not the greatest ride I've ever been on, nor is it something that I would stand in line for 60 minutes to ride. However, it is an interesting and enjoyable experience, especially the first time. It is definitely an upgrade from Star Tours and Body Wars.
This ride almost tops The Haunted Mansion as my favorite ride of all-time... Well it might top it... Anyways, I rode Mission: Space 4 times and two of those times were in a row... Don't do that. Excellent ride with a little bit of a disappointing ending. DO NOT TURN YOUR HEAD!
This is one of those rides where simple reviews such as these won't do it justice. You have to ride M:S to believe it. It is so amazing.
I was hoping for more. Yes, you experience crushing G Forces for a few seconds or so, but then it's Bodywars & Star Tours. I know most on this site will disagree, but I do not think this ride is earth shattering, awesome, or when all the hype dies down will it help EPCOT'S attendance.
What can I say. GREAT. UNREAL. THE BOMB. They really did it again. What a ride. This is the closest most of us will ever get to space flight in our lifetime. But I can say that its such a great feeling and hope to be alive to see other young people get to do real space flight someday. This ride is a must. I will say if your affraif oh being enclosed in a small area..this is not for you. Other then that I can see any reaosn for anyone not to get on it. A must do while at Epcot.
I have been watching Illumination shows since 1992 and it has come alooong way. This show is not only great with all the tech involved, but has a story line which fits with the times. The world is hurting and this show lifts your spirits and gives you some positive energy and hope for the future of our world. The only down I see is the audio. I think the speaker system around the lagoon have to be replaced. Depending where you are some speaker sound blown up. The crackle. Some of them dont sound and so you hear the music very low. I just think adding more speakers and new ones would help with the sound.....but over all the show is a must do while in Epcot.
Ok... yes I am a chicken... but honestly if you're under 20 and don't like scary movies or anything like that then DO NOT go on this ride... I'm 19 and was nearly in tears... this in my opinion is NOT a disney friendly ride! But that's just my opinion do whatever you want, i guess it doesn't hurt to try it once and make you own judgements... NOTE TO PARENTS: If your children do not want to go on this ride, please and cannot stress this enough, DON'T force them to! It could have lasting psychologic problems... one girl screamed her head off, cried, and yelled "let me off" the entire ride ( no it wasn't me) and that's just wrong!!! HAVE A NICE DAY!
I agree that it is free advertising for Coke but so are all the signs and the fact that you can only get Coke products in the parks. Who cares? They are offering an experience tha most people don't get, to try something from another country. Stop over, try some sodas from other countries, try to appreciate the differences in life. Not all attractions have to scare you half to death to be enjoyable.
Another winner in my book, I have ridden 4 times and counting!
I love this show- I've seen it many times and it just gets better with time. The music is good or bad depending on how Cinderella is singing that day. I saw one show where Cindy was all off! I gave the show 1 star for merchandising because I'd really like for this show to be on cd!!!
I LOVE Space Mountain! My personal best is riding it 30 times in one day without getting sick!
I am giving this attraction all 5's because I work at the Speedway occasionally and I know what we Cast Members have to endure to keep the attraction up and going. Thanks to all of the wonderful guests that make our job much easier!!!
This is the train you ride to get to Rafiki's Planet Watch (Conservation Station). The theming is really good, It looks a lot like train stations in some non-industrialized countries I've visited. The ride itself is very relaxing, although, it should be pointed out that you don't ride facing forward. Rather, the train cars have open sides and you sit facing the side, so you can look out over the scenery. You'll pass many of the enclosures that AK uses to house the animals at night. Be sure and take the time to tour Rafiki's Planet Watch. If you are interested in the care and feeding of the animals at AK, you will find it quite informative.
This is an interesting change from the rides and the crowds in the park. The train ride up to the exhibits and back is relaxing and you get to see many of the places where they keep the animals at night. Once you are at Rafiki's Planet watch, you walk up a brief trail to reach the main building. Along the way, you can see a number of exhibits that show you how you can make your own community at home a more animal friendly environment. Once you reach the main building you can see how the animals at AK have diets tailored to their nutritional needs, and how they are cared for medically whenever there's a problem (like if a snake swallows a golf ball). The CMs are all very friendly and happy to spend time explaining the exhibits. There's a petting zoo for the little ones if they get bored. But older kids, esp. if they like animals, will find this interesting.
It's fun! However, it's pricey and the lines are often times unbearable. Go during an off-time season and be sure to have more fun!
This is a must-see at one point. It's NOT your average circus!
NOT sure what I saw but it was busy and not what I expected. For the price and the long range seating, I was not impressed.
This show is personally by far the best experience at WDW. The show lasts around 13 minutes and it is action packed, not a boring moment in sight. This show makes Epcot my favorite hangout park over the Magic Kingdom!
Best ride at WDW!!!! Very good, but needs a longer Queue line, and needs a bit more theming of space. Also, they need a little more stuff about Space in the Queue(like a video, or something else), so people would get bored and dizzy staring at the stuff in the Queue room( The only place that has stuff like that in the Queue, is when you are about to be dispatched onto the ride is the the Control Center and 75 Years of Spaceflight spotlights in history.) The storyline is great, and the preshow, ride, postshow and Gift Shop are excellent. Gift Shop has a good variety of merchandise tied to the attraction, and of the theme(Space, of course). They have TONS of shirts, hats, different Space-themed items, and even glass cups and models of the vehicle you are supposed to be in! The preshows and outside music are very well designed, and are sort of inspirational music to interest you about the ride. The architecture is very good as well. I Give the ride: 5 ***** stars
it was a good parade but since i grew up with spectro i prefer that
Everybody at WDW seemed to be here at the same time.Nice park but there are water parks everywere so I didn't see this as a big deal !!!!
I've always loved this attraction. I know it's not the most popular thing to do, but I think it's one of the best ways to cool down and relax for a bit while being entertained.
Sounds Dangerous is a snoozer. You sit in the dark with headphones on and listen to noises for what seems like an interminably long time. It's not even funny, despite the fact that it stars Drew Carey. The only good thing about this attraction is that it's air-conditioned. If it were a little bit longer, you could take off teh headphones and just take a nice nap. Skip this.
The Japan pavilion has lovely gardens and a very serene atmosphere. They have drummers who perform, so don't miss them if you have the chance to watch. I really like the Mitsukoshi Department store, there's a wide variety of very interesting Japan themed items like tea sets and snack foods and such. And some very interesting Winnie the Pooh items you can only get there.
This is a fun ride once you get inside and get to see the animatronic dinosaurs. They aren't as scary as the huge roaring dinos in Dinosaur! over in AK so it's a good ride to take younger kids on. Esp. if they like dinos, but the AK ride would be too intense and bouncy for them. Ellen and Bill Nye the Science Guy do okay with the storyline, but really, I go for the dinosaurs. The smell is especially interesting!
Wow. This ride is simply amazing. Though I feel that it is unfair to have to review the "Thrill Rating" portion of this ride- a ride that deserves five stars all the way. It is impossible with these review ballots to give any ride 5 stars, because of the thrill and kid friendly portions. If it's thrilling, it can't be kid friendly. If it's kid friendly, it's probably not thrilling. It should read "Thrilling and/or Kid Friendly." Just one man's opinion.
Skip this, unless you have a lot of time on your hands and have ridden everything else several times. Basically, you stand in a long line, watch a movie about how the seas were formed, get in an elevator that's jazzed up to look like it's taking you under water, adn then you get to get out and walk through an aquarium. Booooring! They need to do something else with this exhibit.
This was not a very good ride, though I feel that they bit off more than they could chew. They kept pitching it as "very intense," but it wasn't so much. The launch was great, though I certainly didn't feel as if I was going from 0-6,000 in 60 seconds. Very realisic ride, though.
This attraction is truly unbelievable!!. In my opinion, it is one of the most incredible experiences you will ever have ANYWHERE, period. The force on your body is unlike anything I have experienced and the cutting edge imagery is very realistic. There is so much detail in this ride and the ride capsule that I guarentee you will miss a lot of what makes this attraction top notch should you only ride it once. Everytime I rode I saw something new, felt something different, and heard new things from sound effects to Capcom's instructions during the ride. The only thing I thought seemed weak was the weightless part. You do feel weightless for a second or two, but not as long as I had hoped. However, if they took the whole zero G thing out, I wouldn't care. This ride is so unbelievable without it. The post show is so much fun and, for me, is the best post-show area at any of the Epcot Pavilions. It is entertaining, well-themed and continues with the whole storyline of the pavilion flawlessly. The race game is a lot of fun and you need to be an astronaut AND Mission Control to really experence this game (in other words, play it twice). The videos from space are a lot of fun to make. This is going to be a major hit for Disney and Epcot, and the entire theme park industry when it opens officially. The ride is so complex that most people won't even realize how complex it is unless they come to websites like this...it is that well done. From the expressions everyone had after the ride, I think it is safe to say everyone who rode it loved it as well!
What is great about La Nouba is that it can be taken at many different levels. One can see it and just focus on the acts and the fun and amusing atmosphere the show creates. You could see it as the circus coming to town and how the urbanites react to them, or on its deepest level, La Nouba can be seen as a child's mind where all her dreams can come true. Will her mind be conformed by society or will she be a unique person?
A new hit at EPCOT, Mission Space will soon have its official opening. The ride itself is fun, but it does not meet up in quality nor does it meet up in value to its predecessor Future World attractions.
When this opens at Epcot in August 2003, the entire Theme Park world will take notice. Ingenuity, Realism, and classic Disney special touches make this attraction one of the best the Disney Cooperation has to offer in its Parks and Resorts division. Be aware this ride does have several health cautions. And it may be too intense for small children. HEED THE WARNINGS! A MUST SEE!
My family never misses Ice Station Cool when we visit WDW! There are Coca-Cola samples from all over the world for tasting. Ice Station is a cooling haven from the heat! It is such a hoot to watch everyone's faces when sampling the Cokes from around the globe! There are some shall I say less-than-appealing sodas. Sometimes I just stand back and watch as familes come in and taste! Their faces wrinkle up like they've just bit into a lemon. It's truly great fun, and a nice break from the heat. When my kids spot the igloo, they stampede toward it. Ice Station Cool is a not to be missed little treat! Great fun!
La Nouba is absolutely wonderful, if you can work it into your budget and have the time to see it, don't pass it up. This is not your average circus, for one thing, there are no animals. The performers do some of the most amazing things I've ever seen human beings do. One fellow does a balancing act with chairs that had me covering my eyes, and then peeking through them to see what he was going to do next, how much higher he could possibly go. There was also a troupe of little girls who had a great high energy act involving spools and ropes. They were great audience favorites! See this, you won't regret it! (But don't take younger children, they might get bored.)
Saw this show for the first time in many years on my most recent trip. Patriotic, nostalgic, a little heavier on the slavery angle than I remember, but overall a good show. The highlight is of course the roll call of presidents. Take note of the differences in height, dress, hairstyle, and the various movement, fidgeting, head shaking, high fives, dancing, etc. from the boys throughout the performance. My personal experience was enhanced by the group of girls sitting behind me, commenting throughout the show on "how real the wax people look" *slaps head*, followed by one of them noting during our current president's speech that "it even sounds like Bush!" *slaps head again*
I have yet to find a 'perfect' place to view this show from. A great show that is all around you. Worth seeing. Be sure get a place to view it from at least 30 minutes before.
A great parade that was very interactive. The music was great and you could view it from several great locations.
This firework show is a nice way to end your day at the Magic Kingdom. Viewing areas all around the park. I usually go in the Tomorrowland area next to Cosmic Ray's Cafe to watch it. If you have a view of the front of the castle you can see Tinkerbell get 'shot down' from the top of the castle.
A great Parade with a uinque style of presentation. On each 'corner' of the parade there is an announcer to tell you who and what is in front you. Just like on TV, the announcer will 'boo' the villians and 'cheer' the heros. The themes of each car (float) are unique and not seen elsewhere at Disney.
Epcot is basically two parks in one. Future World is the entertainment side of the park, while the World Showcase is the educational side. This park will take at least one full day to see it all and maybe longer depending on your planning.
Though the newest of the parks, this is the park hardest to navigate. It is the largest in size and due to its nature theme all the path make navigation harder for walking and those in wheelchairs. You can see a majority of the park in a few hours. Leave time for the shows, esp The Lion King! A great show that you should not miss and be sure to get there early. Take time to walk down paths and trails you never know what you may find.
This is one of the WDW parks that I consider a 'half-day' park. If you plan it right you can see the entire park by the time lunch is over. The better of the trill rides are located here and are the most popular attractions of the park, see them early in the day or just before the park closes. This is also the easiest park to navigate. Small is size and fairly flat.
but still a lot of fun! This is a great ride if you're tired and want to have a rest and view some great scenes from old movies. The only thing that might scare the more sensitive kids is a mock gun battle during the ride, and the monster from Alien. But, on the whole, it's a fun look back at some great movies. I think it would be a good candidate for refurbishment and updating.
You have to be fast on the buttons (and you have to be right!) if you want to get into the hot seat and win a million points and a Disney Cruise. This replica of the popular TV game show is lots of fun, even if you don't make it into the hot seat! Generally, during a session of the show, two or three people will make it into the hot seat. The hosts are very personable and they make the experience loads of fun. Give it a try, who knows, you may win!
The day I heard The Walt Disney Story was taken out of the Magic Kingdom, I just shook my head. How could they do that? Without Walt Disney, the Magic Kingdom wouldn't even exist! It was the only park in Florida that he, himself had his hands on. Maybe it wasn't a thrill-a-minute attraction, but not everybody cares about thrills. There are so many people out there that are Disney Company history buffs. This was a great place to get a fix. At least One Man's Dream has come along. It was high time Walt was put back in the spotlight.
For all it's cheesy underwater scenes, this ride still had the ability to fascinate me. Even with the knowledge that we weren't going underwater on a submarine, I still always had the feeling we were. Imagineering has to have some brilliant minds that could rework this attraction with updated technology. Going back to the 20K theming would be preferable to me (not every attraction has to be based on a current film), but I'd settle for Nemo or Little Mermaid too. Anything to resurrect the lagoon and make it a working attraction again - character meet and greets are lame and can be put anywhere in the park, so that shouldn't be an issue.
This was great fun! It's basically an indoor roller coaster ride in the dark ala Space Mountain. But with music by Aerosmith. Not for the faint of heart, but if you like fast rides and loud music, with lots of swoops and drops and thrills, then don't miss this!
This is a charming show that may give you second thoughts about killing the next bug you find in your house. A funny, informative 3-D movie featuring the characters from "A Bug's Life" this show provides insights into the vital role that insects play in keeping our world balanced, healthy and cleaned up. The pre-show area has posters of Broadway shows, but all of them are tweaked to fit a bug theme. Keep an eye out for them, they will keep you entertained while you wait to be let in for the show. That said, while most people will enjoy this show, if you are afraid of bugs, you might want to stay away. There are some hair-raising moments for the bug phobic. Also, although this show is based on a popular family movie, it may be too intense for younger children. There are some scary moments with spiders and a menacing grasshopper. I would think twice about taking a child under five to see this. Even older children have been known to dissolve into frightened tears. But everyone else should have a great time!
If you've never been to Africa, this is pretty darn close to what it's like to visit one of the big game parks, like Kruger in South Africa. Except for the corny poaching storyline. The animals are incredible and each ride is different because they will be doing different things at different times of the day. The animals are most active in the early morning and late afternoon, when it's cooler. This is a very bumpy ride because the roads are quite rutted. But the driver stops often so that riders can take photographs. It really is one of the best rides at AK. Now, if only Disney would drop that corny Big Red/Little Red Menaced by Poachers storyline, Kilimanjaro Safaris would be perfect.
Although Kali Rapids is a short ride (really much too short!), you can get really wet! I enjoyed the ride and I thought the pre-ride area, done up like a river expeditions company in India was really detailed and interesting. This ride will always be a sentimental favorite with me because I was selected for a Disney Magical Moment early one morning when I showed up to ride on it. I met a charming CM who entertained me with magic tricks and jokes, and then another CM came up to me and asked me if I'd like to go behind the scenes at Kali Rapids! Naturally, I was quite eager. I went back into the control room where the ride controls are and they have about a dozen video monitors. Throughout the ride, there are hidden cameras that allow Disney CMs to see how things are going. It was absolutely fascinating. Then I got to ride the rapids about five times! It was great! Oh, one final thing: just because the ride is over, doesn't mean you can't get wet. As the rafts are returning to the rotating line platform, they pass under a bridge. This bridge has buttons on it that allow passersby to shower the rafts with brief jets of water from nearby statues. It can come as a surprise!
The Haunted Mansion is Disney at its best! I love everything about this attraction! The huge gothic mansion, the tombstones in the yard, the pre-show in the elevator, the CMs patter and costumes, the Doombuggies (!), the leisurely ride through a haunted house filled with 999 ghosts (with room for 1 more) and the ghostly hitchhiker at the end. One particular favorite of mine is the haunted ballroom with all the twirling couples. That said, of course, HM is not very scary, and only likely to frighten the smallest children. It's just an amusing, relaxing ride.
Aside from the small waterfall at the beginning of the ride, there's not much to take a person by surprise on PotC. The fun thing about this ride is the incredible attention to detail that Disney's Imagineers worked into the ride. No matter how many times I ride it, I always see something new and fun. Some aspects of the ride (skeletons, cannons going off) might scare younger kids, but most people will enjoy themselves. And the song will linger in your mind, but not in that annoying "It's a small world after all" way. In a fun, amusing way.
Like Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach is another wonderfully imagined Disney waterpark. The story goes that BB was created when a freak snowstorm came through the area and a ski resort was set up to take advantage of the new situation. But then all the snow melted, and... Anyhoo, this park is more for people who like the thrilling water rides like Summit Plummet, and others. There's a ski lift that takes riders to the top of the summit and even if you don't go down the slide, you can still get a great view of the park. There is also a wave pool, but this one is not a rambunctious as the one at Typhoon Lagoon. And there is also a "creek" for people who just want to loll around in an innertube and float the day away (that would be me!). The theming is absolutely delightful. BB is a fun way to spend the day and beat the heat!
Our 6 and 9 year old loved it..especially the wave pool. I thought it was a bit too crowded ( 1st week in June) but all in all it was a good time.
I come from a very bird friendly family, so everytime I'm at Animal Kingdom, I drop by to see this charming little show. It's not a thrill ride, but people who go in with an open mind will have the opportunity to see some beautiful birds doing wonderful things. Before the show begins a CM usually comes out with a bird and talks with the guests waiting to see the show. Once inside, guests are seated in a small outdoor auditorium and the show begins! The birds don't really do "tricks" per se, their performances are based on their own natural behaviors. There are demonstrations of a wide variety of behaviors including talking, grasping objects while in flight, and a particularly funny one involving a bird that hunts lizards. (His prey in the show is a plastic lizard that gets the daylights whomped out of it.) While some may think this show is nothing special, it's a lovely diversion from a busy park and frenetic rides. There's a storyline involving a lost tour guide who is afraid of birds. It's kind of hammy, but if you just sit back and enjoy the beautiful birds, you'll come away with a real appreciation for our feathered friends.
First, this is not a ride I'd take a kid on. That said, if you like thrill rides, Tower of Terror is not to be missed. Because the falls are now random, each ride is different and you never know when your elevator is going to suddenly plunge several stories, then rise, then plunge again. It's a scream, no pun intended. Also, when the elevator doors open near the top, you get a great, albeit brief, view of the MGM theme park. So keep your eyes open...if you can! The theming will keep you entertained during what can sometimes be a long wait for the elevator.
This has to be one of the greatest shows ever put on by Disney.
My life would not be complete without the Tower of Terror! I absolutely love the ride and it should be around forever!
Comments from a pre-opening ride. "The official press release talks of "pulse-racing lift-off." This is not merely marketing spin. "Lift-off" is "pulse-racing," that's for sure." "It's not all about the physical experience. Much of what makes Mission: Space brilliant is the psychological aspect. In this way the ride really does "push the envelope." There really is nothing else even close to this experience in a theme park. Many people who ride this attraction are going have sore cheek muscles from smiling so much before the ride portion of the attraction has even started. I've never been to a Space Camp, but I can't imagine a more thrilling experience for someone who wishes to be an astronaut than the Mission: Space ride at EPCOT"
This is a wonderful theme park for all ages. Cinderella's Castle is a must do for a character breakfast. Your family will love the theming and special attention to detail at this restaurant. On main street, dont miss the fudge. Don't forget to grab a turkey leg from the cart vendors, they are soooo good. Enjoy all the sights and smells of this classic park. It will make you feel like a kid all over again.
all i can say is that even if you haven't seen any of the indiana jones movies, but you just like anything that's full of pulse-pounding action, then this show's for you
Of the two Disney waterparks, Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite. I'm not big on waterslides, but I really lover the wave pool and I *especially* love Castaway Creek. There is nothing more relaxing than floating around the park on an inner tube in the warm sun after a busy morning at the theme parks. There is also a great shark reef attraction here, for people who would like to try their hand at snorkling. Sometimes I think I like the waterparks even more than the theme parks.
This is a really nice tour, with Catastrophe Canyon being the "thrill" in the ride. It is also very fun to see the props used in various familiar movies/TV shows. Don't miss it if you've never been before!
I like the Disney attention to detail but it's just another elvator ride! Wait time can be a hassle.
It all started here. The park can be a little dated but it is nice to go back to a 50's theme from time to time.
This is an older attraction but still good. If you love boat rides this is a great one.
I LOVED Listen to the Land...I always left that right singing that song....one of my favorites...kinda disappointed they stopped playing it. I still like the ride...its one of those catch your breath and relax for awhile kinda exhibits. Interesting for me, but my kids dont like it...2 teens and an 8 year old. But, we do it anyways.
Ok, I am not a big fan of Coca-Cola products...but I have to admit...when your thirsty this is the place to go when you dont want to pay $2.50 for a bottle of water. Free samples....some ok, some septic soda. When we do go, its usually on a bet...who can drink the most Beverly (Italy) soda without making the puking/gagging face and or sound. I place money on the table for my 3 kids to see who can out do the other...its funny....they are competitive with each other so it goes for a couple of mini cups full. =) Items for sale there...WAY overpriced...for free advertisment of their product. And you WILL leave with sticky shoes!!!
Ever since they removed the Sea Cab's...I hate this attraction. Its terrible...you watch a movie, you get in the fake elevators and then that is it...I really enjoyed the Sea Cab's it added a little something to the exhibit. Going through the tube with the sharks swimming overhead...that was nice...now its just boring..Disney needs to do something with this now..cause its an injustice to the creatures living there.
One great show. Presented in a unique way. The use of live action and movies is well done. No need to get there extremely early, sitting in the back give you a quicker exit when the show is over and you are fighting the crowds. I enjoy watching it every time.
The park that started it all in 1971. Always growing and changing with the times. I actually think there is too much to do in the Magic Kingdom, but that is what makes it so well known.
This is a shorter parade than most. It is all about Walt and his dreams. If you are with kids it is a must! Also look for the hidden Walt's throughout the floats. Here is a hint for two of them: On the first float look atop the snow globe at the camera reel, Walt's silhouette is there. On the last float Walt is etched into the glass on the front of the castle walking with Mickey (just like the statue in front of the real castle). There are many more throughout. Overall a good parade and worth seeing at least once. IT is currently scheduled till 2006.
unless you have a lot of time to stake out a good view of this it is a hassle to see whats going on. It is the best fireworks at wdw
This has to be by far the best parade Disney has put together. We have taken our children down since 2000 (our youngest was 11 months at the time) and they constantly sing the Hey-la song and want to go back. They have passed up going on rides just so they could see the parade twice on each night we have been at EPCOT!!The interaction between the performers and the children made a tremendous impact on our children. When we told them that the parade was cancelled they were heart broken.
A direct rip off of Star Tours without the fun. It is not a bad ride just nothing to remeber...Also this ride tends to be a bit rough compared to Star Tours...
Great fun. This is a ride for the whole family to enjoy....
Great ride but they need to rehab some basic things such as paint and the casts uniforms which look really old and not exactly from the Star Wars universe.... Overall a VERY fun ride no matter how many times you ride it...
A few years ago, I declined to go to La Nouba because I just couldn't see spending an extra $150 for the two of us after spending SO much money at Disney already. The next time I went to WDW, I decided, "What the heck?" I know kick myself for not seeing it the first time as well! I see it every time I visit WDW and will continue to do so. By far the best night out there is at WDW.
I have seen this probably close to 20 times. Every single time I have seen it, it still amazes me. DON'T MISS THIS.
They took a terrific parade and absolutely ruined it with an incredibly annoying vocal track.
Incredible music, wonderful costumes - and no annoying vocal track! Absolutely the BEST
Here you can see meerkats, the best animals on earth! They are soo cute! I want to take one home. One of the best places to see animals at Animal Kingdom.
No, wait a minute, take away almost. I was so excited to see this show, because I had never seen it before. I have never been so let down in my life. If I were Drew Carey, I would have made Disney redo this show. NEG-UH-TIVE!
Excellent ride! While the theming may not be the most expensive in the world while you are actually on the ride, I still think the queue and post show make up for that! Such a rush!
One of my favorites--certainly the best ride at Epcot. I wish I could drive my car like this!
For all the hype that people have decided to bestow on this attraction after its merciful closing, this attraction was never anything that great. A line that was one of the most slow moving on Disney property, special effects that look like they were stolen right from the original movie (and not in that cool, nostalgic way, but that "this ride needs to be updated bad" way), and a dreadfully boring ride, all things considered. We can only hope that the lagoon won't stay vacant for much longer, wouldn't a big E-ticket look great right there in Fantasyland?!
i love this park! It is the classic of all classics!
This is the best ride I have ever ridden! I love the way you go into pitch black and you don't know when you are going to drop! It is themed very well and I suggest that you try it!
Ahoy there matey's! This ride is defintely a classic as others have said, but the lack of a real thrill may deter the teenage to college age crowd. It can be a little scary for young tikes, but I don't think its too bad. This ride is a great ride though with wonderful animatronics and themeing. A major plus of this ride is the fact there is NEVER a wait unless its raining outside, people generally seem to go on this as soon as they are done with the two Moutain rides. I recommend this to EVERYONE! Sure, it doesn't have a lot of thrills, but most Disney rides don't, this is Disney after all, not Six Flags!
I love it, always ride first when I get to the MK.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sure glad RAYROBBINS finally turned off his capslock... This is a superbly themed attraction, with a great queing area, music, and enthusiastic cast memebers. The excitement of the ride itself sort of depends on how many animals you get to see and what they are doing when you actually see them. Seeing the animals is cool and all, but most of the time they are just sitting around doing nothing. Which gets to be boring to look at... I suggest going right when the park opens, that way you can see the animals roaming around a little bit, plus they will be eating breakfast which is almost a gurantee that there will be many animals out! Do this ride more than once for different experiences!
For those people who like the sun reflecting off of anything white and alot of heat this is the place to be. once the thrill of the first visit wears off,it's just another water park
Great parade, but like all at Disney get a seat early! At least an hour before or you will be out of luck. Starts slow but builds to the ending with some nice lighting effects including color changing floats.
If you've never seen a Cirque Du Soleil show, this is a good one to start with. I've seen 3 different shows live (so far) and this was the best of them all. Don't let the ticket price scare you away, you'll definitely come away satisfied (understatement).
There are really only two downsides to this ride: 1. When it's busy and it's hot, the only thing worse than standing in the line for this ride is being on "It's a Small World". 2. 'Bigger' people will have trouble getting in and out of the flumes. (I am not 'bigger', but I am tall, which also presents a struggle) Once you get inside the ride area, the queuing is cute and fun for children. The ride itself is to be enjoyed by people of all ages, even college students! (like me!) The ride loses its 'thrill' factor after going on it a few times, but it is still a blast and a MUST ride every visit to MK.(but get there early so you dont have to wait so long, or get a fastpass!)
This is quite possibly the worst ride ever conceived in any human beings mind. The fact that its been around so long and so many people like it, point to the degradation of our society. The only reason you should ride this ride is if you want to mentally and quite possibly physically injure the person you would ride it with. I believe Dante perceived "It's a Small World" the ride as the 6th circle of hell. Avoid at all costs. AT ALL COSTS!
Everyone knows this ride is a classic; from the beginning until the end, the ride keeps a wonderfully spooky vibe! Generally there isn't a very long line for this ride, but sometimes at various points during the day, it's packed! I wish they would change the graveyard stuff up a little bit, I feel like they've over used the black light/pop up skull bits. Other than that, a great classic ride!
I wish the ride was longer so that I can sing more Aerosmith songs, but I know it's not possible. So I just get back in line and do it all over again!
This is my favorite attraction in all the parks. If I could, i would sit through it all day long.
This show is a must-see...it is the best live show in Disney World! The performers are very talented, the songs and routines are upbeat, and it is appropriate for all ages. Truely spectacular and hard to describe. Just go see it!
What could they possibly have been thinking?! This roller coaster is ugly. It is not a very rough ride, but it does not have very a interesting/detailed theme to keep you interested when the drops and turns are only ho-hum. The seats are uncomfortable, and you'd better really like the person sitting next to you, because your hips will be smashed together during the spins. For such a weenie coaster, I can't understand why the height requirement is 48 inches! Thus, little kids, who might enjoy the tamer roller coaster and hokey visuals, can't ride!
While I know this parade means well with its positive outlook on creativity and dreams, it's simply one of Disney's worst parades. I constantly get caught in the middle of it (it blocks half of the worlds.) and it's un-entertaining to see people in what looks to be recycled, metal outfits. Disney needs to get rid of this and replace it with something better.
First time ever on a roller coaster! Most fun ever! It is great themed!!
DQ has every video game you can imagine as well as Disney added interactive fun. Build your own rollercoaster and ride it! Go white water rafting. Highly interactive. The best activity there is on the first floor and is actually built into the floor. Drive little Jeep's around a Temple to find a treasure. The fun and interactive part is that a partner can help you find each treasure by yelling directions to you. The Temple can be seen in parts on the fllor. Some parts are hidden to make it more interesting. Also you are competing against 9 others looking for the same treasure. The worst part of DQ is the sometimes long lines.
An excellent, must see parade. The Hollywood parade theming is perfect for MGM, it generates a fab atmosphere. The cars look great, it involves some of the all time great characters and lots of new ones too. Lots of characters on foot too, to shake the kids hands. Darth Vader was there too, cool! Generally a great parade, great fun for kids and parents alike.
This place is perfect for the thrill-seeker and relaxer alike. Check out the wave pool, innner tube rides, and the Humunga Cowabunga water slides!
This is one coaster ALL should try. A good friend of mine does not ride coasters at all. He heard how good this ride was through others and just had to try it. It is the only coaster he will ride and he loves it! The wait may be long if you do not have a FastPass but it is worth it! Great ride overall.
My choice for the best water park in Orlando. Overall it has plenty to do, unlike Blizzard Beach which does not have as many attractions in my opinion. The wave pool is great and the snorkleing just tops the experience. The theme is great and a good amount of shade to rest in.
This attraction is pretty fun. It's best at night. Can be great if you get a good skipper, but can be extremely boring if you get a bad one.
The ride is sort of fun, but it just gets boring after the first 5 minutes. And I find it hard to believe that Disney can't spring for a can of WD-40, because that ride system is LOUD!
This is a great attraction! If you (or your child) is a fan of Bill Nye, this is a MUST! Tip: To avoid crowds, see this at night (right before Illuminations). We once had an entire ride vehicle to ourself.
This ride is one of the greats @ WDW. It's an example of Disney outdoing themselves - I mean it's a hotel they made for this! And the lobby and courtyard are beautiful and so detailed...every bit of this attraction will have you feeling proud to love Disney! Even the elevator ride itself will make you giggle - the bellhops are funny and usually the passengers are as well. Ride this if you can stand moderate drops!
I found this ride to be very dissapointing. Just because you get wet does not mean it is a thrill ride. Although children will enjoy it, the ride isn't worth anybody elses time.
Great Theme. The wait for Summit Plummit is a bit long and it would have been nice if they originally installed two of the slides. Of the Disney water parks, this ranks number 2 on my list overall. There is not as much to do here as in Typhoon Lagoon. But the best thing is the theme.
I won't mince words, here: I HATE Jungle Cruise. There's nothing about it that makes it worth taking in. The horrible animatronic figures that should have been updated years ago are embarrassingly bad, the skippers (no matter which CM it is) are lousy and their jokes even lousier. There's really no point to this attraction or in wasting time in line for it. I won't go on it again and would advise Disney to get rid of it.
This is the best roller coaster that I ever have road. It is a concert and and great thrill attraction all in one. You atually feel like you are staring face to face with Aerosmith when you walk in and first time riders will not expect anything that is to come on this great thrill ride at Disney Studios.
I have been to this park many of hundreds of times and never get tired of it. The feeling of leaving the real world sure helps. So much to do and see here.
I absolutly love this ride. It is in my top 3 at Magic Kingdom.
What is with Dino-Rama? What they did decide to build this? Can't they come up with some original attractions instead of just taking off the shelf carnival rides and retheming them.
This trail could be a whole lot better. If they made it more interesting then more people would go on the trail but Disney seems to be more focused on other things at the current time.
This is just another typical Dumbo attraction. What do we need so many of these things in Disney parks? But I guess if they bring in the kids, it really shouldn't matter but do we need so many?
This ride doesn't need a update. The prequels aren't a good souce material for a ride. The pod race update is better for a VR thing at Disneyquest. This ride is thrilling, action packed, has a tribute to a extinct attraction(mighty microscope from adventure thru innerspace is nearly bumped into at the begining), and a pilot that really needs more training. Overall, 5 out of 5!
While MSEP is a classic, this parade is still good. I enjoyed it...though the "white-faced" characters that intro the parade are a bit scary! A very good replacement for MSEP!
The large Mardi Gras style floats were great...why they can't do parades like this anymore amazes me. I loved this parade everytime we saw it. This parade was worth seeing a couple of times each trip.
We saw this parade once...very unique having the characters riding powered hang gliders and a having daytime fireworks. Fun to watch!
Not as good as it's parent Tapestry of Nations, but still an excellent parade...while there. Sad to see that it's gone.
If this parade isn't one of the best parades WDW has ever done, I don't what is. The interaction with the audience was great. I loved this parade.
A very good parade that was fun for everyone! I absolutely love the Green Army Men...Sarge was great!
One of Disney's better parades. It includes all the big characters. I love the theming of the cars. I hope they keep it for a while.
This parade wasn't a true Disney parade since it only involved the main characters for the show. It had no other Disney characters and was very short. It was cute to see once....wouldn't waste my time for a second viewing.
Okay...so this ride isn't the most exciting ride around, but think about what it is....a easy way to get to Conservation Station. The only improvement I have would be to make it a round trip instead of the backwards/forwards thing....for those that think you could walk there...look at the map, no one is walking there!
This attraction will be missed...it was a classic Epcot original. Those people who found it boring and napped through it are people who couldn't see classic Disney Imagineering if it bit them on the nose...if they'd stayed awake they would have seen it. It had classic audioanimatronics...a great theme...and you got to pick your ending...how does it get better than that? A good ride is more than a thrill ride.
Why do they have this here? They make guests walk all around this park. So they have to walk a little further to Conservation Station? Big whoop!! Deal with it. This thing should be torn up so new and better attractions can be built. Waste of time, money and space.
Kali River Rapids is a good ride but not a great ride. There are many problems to the attraction. The story is pretty typical. The loggers are the bad men just because they "supposedly" care about nothing but money which really isn't the case but let's not get into that. The theming is sub-par just because there is just stuff to look at. No narration, no audio-animatronics, no actual animals, no nothing. Just burnt trees and water. Lots and LOTS of water. The ride is also too short. Could be a lot longer. Looking very forward to Forbidden Mountain when it opens in 2005/2006 in this area of the park.
It's Tough to be a Bug is one of the best 3-D shows the Walt Disney Company has ever made. Great animation from the wonderful people at Pixar Animation Studios, great voices from the same people who worked on A Bug's Life, and fabulous in-house special effects though the stink bug smell could be taken down a notch. There are some problems with the attraction though. The ride is too short, first of all. It is only eight minutes long so a lot of the elements in the show seem a bit rushed. The second thing is that show is exactly kid friendly. Many kids will get scared by the special effects especially when Hopper first appears in the show. Note!! This show is not for those with a big fear of bugs!!
This is just one huge commercial for Coke. I know Coke around the world tastes different. Didn't bother me too much the Coke when I went to Italy was a little different. Just something new and I got over it after two weeks but it took me awhile to get use to American Coke again though.
There really isn't much to say here other then the fact that this is just your regular run of the mill kid show featuring Goofy from those old cartoons Walt Disney made. It's an okay show but nothing to go out of the way for.
I am so glad Horizons is gone. The only reason I am a little upset it is gone is because I lost a good napping spot. Horizons is one of the most boring attractions Disney has ever built. Thank goodness Mission: Space will be replacing this tired attraction. Looking very forward to an actual ride here in Epcot.
Reflections of Earth Is the best. The song Is we go on.
Wow, this was the best attraction ever made by Disney. It's really too bad that it was taken down. It's a real shame. I've been on Mission:Space, and, believe me, it just can't compare. Nothing can hold a candle to good ol' Horizons. Now, sadly, it's gone, but not forgotten.
Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is quite possibly the best show Disney has ever created. It is definitely the best show in Walt Disney World for sure. The music is fabulously scored. Everything is in sync with the pyro-technics and the fireworks. Everything turns out amazing. Here is hoping Illuminations: Reflections of Earth stays in Epcot for a very long time. I was so glad to hear they were going to keep it for awhile after the Millennium Celebration because it was the biggest highlight of the 15 month celebration of Epcot. Worth the price of admission alone!! Must see!!
SpectroMagic is okay. That is all. Just okay. I have always hated that this thing replaced the Main Street Electrical Parade not just in 1991 but also in 2001 after the Millennium Celebration was over. The music is catchy. The characters are good. The floats are okay but nothing spectacular. They could have really updated this during the time it was down for the Millennium Celebration but all they did was replace Rodger Rabbit with the Genie on that music float. Could be a lot better.
What can I say other then the fact that this is just one giant commercial? Oh, yeah! The fact that Dinosaurs went off the air maybe less then a year after this debuted. Wasn't on TV that long. Why did Disney do this? Just to suck up to the Jim Henson company as they tried to buy it?
FANTASMIC! What can I say? Absolutely amazing. When this show opened in 1998 after numerous performances over in Disneyland, I was not surprised to see that the show lived up to its hype. Possibly the best show at Walt Disney World next to Illuminations: Reflections of Earth over at Epcot. Worth the price of admission alone. Very good show though it could have just a little pre-show entertainment instead of absolutely nothing. Note that this attraction is exactly kid-friendly. There are many moments within the show that may be too scary and intense for some small children.
The one and only Main Street Electrical Parade was the best night-time parade the Magic Kingdom ever showcased. I loved the moment I got to see it again after I saw the "Farewell Celebration" the first year I visited Walt Disney World. I was darn upset when they decided to replace it again with SpectroMagic after the Millennium Celebration was over. Bring it back!! Don't stick it in California Adventure. The parade deserves better.
Share a Dream Come True is one of the worst parades Disney has made for the Magic Kingdom. It is just one huge commercial to sell 100 Years of Magic snow globes that they have in the gift shops along Main Street USA. It doesn't make sense what-so-ever to have snow globes as floats other then that. The music is annoying as well. Why do they have the children narrating this or saying Walt Disney quotes? That is just annoying. Nice to hear Julie Andrews narrating the parade though.
The one, the only, the original. Nothing beats the good old Tapestry of Nations. This had to be the best piece of entertainment at Epcot except for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth accourse.
How is this different from Tapestry of Nations? All they did was add some Walt Disney quotes, those annoying Dreamcatcher voices, ruined the music to the parade, and just re-themed it very slightly. That is it!! Nothing big at all. A big rip if you ask me.
Why don't they just kid rid of this show? Why they still have it with Fantasmic! playing to packed shows night after night, I don't know.
I will just come right out and say it without dragging this review on for a half-hour: Animal Kingdom is a day park and nothing more. I really want to see this park become more but with nothing that great there, the park shall remain that until something fabulous comes along. Dinosaur, Kilimanjaro Safaris and Kali River Rapids are the only major thrill rides in the park. Those can be completed in the early morning with some time to spare before noon. It's Tough to be a Bug! is great but too short at only eight minutes long. Festival of the Lion King is good but why is there so much Lion King stuff in the parks? I know it was a great film but it wasn't that great. Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama is an embarassment to the Disney theme park name. They just added off the shelf carnival rides and made them look pretty. That is all!! I call that a total rip. Totally embarassing. They need to get something in here and quick!! Our prayers may have been answered with Forbidden Mountain coming in 2005/2006 but I will save my judgement until I actually get to ride the 200 foot mountain attraction. Wish they were still working on Beastly Kingdom but some dreams do have to die some time.
The Magic Kingdom is a definite must for anybody visiting Walt Disney World but many will be disappointed by the lack of excitement at the park that started it all for Walt Disney World. There are too many kid friendly rides and not enough thrill rides. Plus there hasn't been anything new in the park for years that was considered an E-Ticket attraction. I know Mickey's PhilharMagic will be added but this is a 3-D show and not exactly an E-Ticket attraction, though I am really looking forward to it. Anything new added to the park is greatly welcomed. Some changes are in store that should be done. First, GET RID OF THE CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS. The attraction is a waste of space, time and money that could be used on something much more important. Second, enough with the reproducing of other attractions. Three "Dumbo-type" rides in the same park is ridiculous. How many of those stupid things do we need? Third, get a thrill ride in here and FAST!! The park hasn't had a new thrill ride since Splash Mountain opened in 1992. Something needs to be done about that. Everything else is fine but some things, which I won't mention, must be update because they are getting pretty old.
The Disney MGM Studios, or as I like to call it Walt Disney Studios Florida, is my favorite theme park for the moment though I really want the honor to go to Epcot. If only they do some updating there. Oh well!! Back to the Studios park. Disney Studios suffers from the same problem as Epcot: a lack of updating. But the Studios park has been updated enough to keep it interesting. The Good: The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (Best Attraction at WDW), the Twlight Zone: Tower of Terror, Fantasmic! (one of the best shows at WDW), Mupper-Vision 3-D, Walt Disney: One Man's Dream, Osborne Spectacle of Lights (only for Christmas), 50's Prime Time Dine In restaurant. The Bad: The Great Movie Ride (really needs an update after 10 years), Star Tours (needs serious update), Backlot Tour (a new script and maybe an update), Sci-Fi Dine In (maybe some new old movie clips and some actual good food), Sorcerery in the Sky (why don't they just get rid of this?)
Epcot is a great park, don't get me wrong here, but I hope Disney hears this: Project Gemini is badly needed for Epcot. I want Epcot to be my favorite Walt Disney World park so badly because everything around the park is amazingly beautiful especially at night. But there are problems with the park that prevent me from making it my favorite. Spaceship Earth is definitely the icon of the park but why in God's name did they have to add the Mickey Wand. Now it has been up too long for people to see the "Golf Ball" without it, so I guess we are stuck with it for a long time. Universe of Energy is a very funny attraction and I look forward to it everytime though I wish it was shorter then 45 minutes. The Wonders of Life needs a huge update. Keep or rehab Cranium Command and Body Wars but remove all the rest. Looking very forward to Mission: Space. They better open it soon or else!! Just kidding. Anyway .... back to the subject. Test Track is the only thrill ride in the entire park. They better get going on adding more thrill rides or else teenagers will stopping coming here all together. The Imagination Pavilion .... where do I start? Keep Honey, I Shrunk the Audience and just totally scrap the idea of the Journey Into Imagination ride because they are having too many darn problems with it. Everytime they think a new plan for it, it turns out worse then the last attempt. The Living Seas really needs something there because no will go to it if they know they will be visiting Sea World a few days later. And the Land? Frankly I never like this idea in the first place but if it has to be there just stick some roller coaster or Soarin' ride to replace the entire pavilion. World Showcase is fine but get some rides in there and I mean quick!! There is nothing there but shops, restaurants, and 360 Theater shows. Maybe an occassional simple boat ride but nothing spectacular. LEAVE ILLUMINATIONS ALONE!! Reflections of Earth is probably the best version of the show ever created. I was so glad they kept it around after the Millennium Celebration but now they need to keep forever. Absolutely amazing!! Great show!! In closing, get Project: Gemini here and quick!! This park needs something and something good.
The attraction has been around since 1983 and it is definitely showing its age. I know they slightly update the attraction for the 25th Anniversary of the park, and nobody appreciated it more then I, but the attraction is too darn old. Let the carousel spin one more time, put the tired attraction out of its misery and plop in a brand new attraction. This thing is taking up money, time and space that could be used for something better. If you don't want the attraction to go becaus of the fuzzy memories, there is a thing called videotape. By now you have to have at least one full ride showing of the attraction on some family vacation video you have. Watch that bring back memories but just let the attraction die so other things could be put in for the further enjoyment of theme park guests.
Disney's DINOSAUR is definitely the best ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom though it somewhat ignored because of its stupid location. Why did Disney have to put it that far back. Hopefully the new bridge being built between Asia and Dinoland USA for Forbidden Mountain will help DINOSAUR out a little bit because Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama isn't. Disney should change the name back to Countdown to Extinction since DINOSAUR (the movie) was complete dud at the box office. They should also return the old statue in front and get rid of that ridiculous Aladar statue. The music is better since it came from the movie but should include the music with the ride and not just the pre-show. The pre-show is pretty funny but they need more then just that little room. The theming is great through out the attraction. Sometimes the ride slows down for some odd reasons and the thrill is killed then but it hapeens on so few occassions that you can usually just ignore it.
Is there any real surprise that this attraction was taken offline? The real question has to be why Disney decided to re-theme this ride so many time before they actually took it offline. The ride was dumb from the beginning. Had they done what they originally wanted to do which was to include an audio-animatronic dragon and somewhat of a real storyline then this might have worked but considering you went around in a circle around the Tree of Life and only made one stop then it was just stupid. Completely idiotic for Disney to put this ride in. It will not be missed by anybody, I think.
The show may be long gone but if memory serves me right then it really wasn't missed that much. It was just an excuse to capitalize on Disney almost getting the Muppets but then things went wrong (like Henson dying) and they decided to get rid of the show. I was pretty young when I first saw the show so I don't exactly remember it too well but I wasn't exactly thrilled with the show.
Obviously this ride is more for those that are interested in Walt Disney himself then any thrill ride out there but this certainly should be watched at least once on anybody's visit. For those who escaped where ever they came from just so they wouldn't get another history lesson then this definitely is not for you. And for those can't stand the sight of Eisner then it is definitely not for you either since he does narrate and appear in most of the actual film of the attraction.
When I first went on Star Tours, I thrilled at the ride and thought I would never get tired of it. Then the years passed and now I have gotten sick of the attraction. It is just the same darn thing time and time again. Before I use to go on the ride three or four times in one day. Now I am lucky if I can bring myself to go on the thing two or three times in one trip, which is usually two weeks long. Lucas and Disney seriously need to update this attraction. Come on guys!! It has been 10 years. How about we update some of these attractions!!
The Great Movie Ride use to bring great joy to my face to see it every year with went to Walt Disney World but as I have gotten older I just begin to realize that this attraction is in serious need of an update. The magic just isn't there like it use to be 10 years ago when the attraction first opened to the public. Now it is just average and if they don't update in a few years it is going to fall below that mark, at least for me.
The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is the best Disney ride ever created!! And I mean that literally. Try showing me another ride that gets you more pumped then this ride here. Can't argue with a looping roller coaster while listening to Aerosmith songs like "Walk This Way" and "Dude Looks Like a Lady" blasting on the speakers. Wish it could be a little long though but not that big of a complaint. This ride is definitely not for the little kiddies or those with weak constitutions.
We had a great evening out at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The complex was very impressive, easy to find and easy to park. We started off with a meal in the All Star cafe. Great food, exceptional service, great theming and just about every sports channel on the TV's all around the building. We then went to see an Orlando Rays game (against the Greenville Braves, I think)- again a fab event, the stadium is great, the staff are really friendly and great with the kids. There are games to watch (and take part in) between the innings. On the whole a very entertaining evening and one we can't wait to repeat next time we are out in Orlando. It was also the least expensive night out we had at just $8.00 each for the game tickets. Fab.
A very intelligent, well developed ride. It involves a look back to the 1900's, the 1920's and the 1940's and also up to the present day. What makes it so interesting is it shows you the human side of these time periods: what people were doing in their everyday lives. It shows how things changed and how people felt about the "progress" at the time. The thrill in this ride is largely within your own mind. It is emotional and thought provoking. With fantastic music and a memorable themesong this attraction is highly recommended.
Fantasmic is my favorite fireworks show ever in Disney Studios. But Our Family liked it.
Great Ride all around Starwars fans youll love this or just people who like alot of action will enjoy this
You think you have been on the coolest log ride? Think again this ride will leave you on the edge on the final drop I still havent got my heart back from up there and its been 2 years....
I absolutely love this park, which is by far my favorite anywhere! Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Muppet Vision 4D, Star Tours, Indiana Jones, and the list goes on and on. Every trip I spent at least a day and a half at this park. Theming is wonderful, the rides and shows are great. I absolutely love Pizza Planet, and Fantasmic is a must see night show!
This park met my expectations when I first entered. I was in awe of the tree of life, and the fact that this park was actually built from the ground up with imported plants and all of that stuff. I thought the thrills they have are some of the best I've ever been on, but the park could generally use some more rides. I don't know if I would spent $50 for a day here but it definately is a must hit with my park hopper in hand.
I experienced this attraction (as I prefer to call all 'rides' in WDW) for the first time in 2000. Before this trip I was last in Epcot during Captain EO's time. We visited in February (about 3 days before winter recess) and the wait for this ride was about 10-15 minutes, which passed quickly while watching the pre-show. The story line is fine by me and the effects are excellent. I could understand some younger children and others being frightened by this show due to the 3-D snake and mice. As for the thrill rating, it gave me my fix! The length of HISTA is decent, not too short, not too long. If children love 3-D shows, they will love HISTA. I give it a 5/5.
This ride will catch your attention as soon as you enter Epcot. Some may call it dated, but to me it is one of my favorites. It tells the story of communication and how it has evolved during the human race. It's a classic.
This has to be the best ride ever made by imagineers. It is very cleaver and thrilling. Sure, after a while, the thrill does tone down a bit. The special effects are really neat. Once you've gine on it once, take some time to enjoy some of the comedy in this. NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!! My favorite ride in the entire Magic Kingdom and WDW.
I love this show! I would put firework show, but it is more than that! Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, I think, is the tied for the best night-time spectacular with Fantasmic! in Disney MGM Studios. If you go to EPCOT CENTER and you don't see this show, then your Disney trip is NOT complete!
Figment is my very favorite Disney character, and, when I heard that he would be injected back into JII, I couldn't have been happier. Well, it's awful. I rode it the day of the soft opening, and I couldn't have been more upset at this wretched, godawful piece of trash.
This is an excellent WDW attraction, and, with the new drops added recently, it becomes even better! It's very fun, with the best theme of any thrill ride that I know of! It's unmissable! It used to be my least favorite attraction. Funny how things work out, ain't it? I would reccomend it to people seven years of age and older.
This has got to be my favorite ride at WDW. A MUST SEE! When I was there in May, I mentioned something about the hitchhiking ghosts to my 6 year old nephew. He said he didn't want to go on the ride after that. (Oops) We talked him into it. He absolutely loved it! I happened to be riding in the doombuggy with him when we rode it. When we got to the hitchhiking ghosts joining us in the doombuggy, he started waving his hand. I thought he was just waving to us in the mirror, but he later admitted he was trying to shoo the ghost away. Classic! I have it on video and laugh whenever I see it.
I was sitting on a bench in front of Flights of Wonder waiting for the Jammin' Jungle Parade. Just before the Flights show, a CM came out with an owl, talking about it. I looked at my watch and noticed I had about an hour to go before the parade, so I decided to check it out. It was a very enjoyable show. A lot more entertaining than I thought it would be. If you haven't seen it and you have the time, check it out. It just may surprise you.
Disney's Animal Kingdom is a truly excellent park. Too many give it bad reviews and rush through it. If you relax, take it easy and take the time to appreciate it for what it is and not compare it to other more "thrill" packed parks you will find its a fantastic place. Its the first park we head for the day after we arrive from the UK, mainly because its a more relaxed park and doesn't seem as stressfull, which is down to the great theming. Kilimanjaro safaris is great, best done in the morning or late afternoon, otherwise you can get a dissapointing animal turnout - but lets face it they're live animals when they're hot they'll sit in the shade, wouldn't you? There are some great attractions, It's tough to be a bug, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, to name but a few. There are also some fab opportunities to see some impressive animals like on the Maharajah Jugle Trek and the Pangani Forest Trail. On the whole its a great park, get there early for the "Awakening" its character overload - and you can't beat walking through the Oasis in the morning air.
BE YOUR OWN VIDEO STAR. USE THEIR PROPS AND LIP SINC YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC. YOU WILL FIND OUT HOW HARD IT IS TO LOOK REMOTELY PROFESSIONAL.OR JUST HAVE A GOOD TIME AND GO CRAZY. YOU WILL HAVE A COPY TO REMEMBER FOREVER.
DisneyQuest is a fun place to spend some time at West Side. There are a number of great attractions inside. Aladdin's Magic Carpets, Virtural Jungle Cruise, and Pirates of the Caribbean are some of my favorites. Other enjoyable experiences include a life sized game of Mighty Ducks Pinball, a bumper cars styles ride called Buzz Lightyears AstroBlaster, and a lesson on how to draw Disney characters at the Animation Acadamy. Along with the major attractions, there are also a variety of arcade-type games. All in all, it's great place to spend a few hours.
Cirque du Soleil is what you get when you mix a circus and Broadway-style stage show. The show playing at Downtown Disney, La Nouba, is definaty one of the most spectacular things you'll see at WDW. I would highly recogmend seeing this show unless you are traveling wit young children.
You'll never see anything like it, let alone a fireworks show. And who else besides Disney can pull of a fireworks show with a story behind it? It has amazing effects all in sync with excellent music. You'll never forget it.
Swim with the sharks, surf the world's largest outdoor wave pool, or relax in the creek. Unlike Blizzard Beach, which is more for the thrill seeker, Typhoon Lagoon is a layed back environment that lets you unwind and be at ease. Beautiful scenery and crystal clear water, it's like a manufactured paradise!
"A Mickey Mouse Ride" someone called this ride... Overrated, I read... It's only exciting because is dark. Is not that is a very small, not thrilling roller coaster, nor that it is dark what gave Space Mountain its popularity. The popularity and fame of this ride is given by his THEMEING... Why is it dark? Because your travelling through space... You turn from a simple amusement park guest into a space traveller, an astronaut of the future. Jus seeing Space Mountain from the outside gaves you the sensation of greatness... What the hell if the coaster inside is not as big as Hulk? A small roller coaster in the dark... Yes. But what a hell of a story it tells. The Queue is great, a walk inside a Space Station, as I see it. Then you can hear the noise created by the coaster, and the yellings and emotions. You can see the lights on the cars travelling fast, up and down... And the sky... Oh boy, that's the best, you can see lasers, and metheors... Once in the single-person-lined rocket, you blast off and the emotion grows as you advance trough your space adventure. At the end, you succed in your mission, and this just lets you with a single thought: I want to ride again!!! Once, in 1992, I ride Space Mountain 10 times one after the other, almost at closing time. I would do that again. I can say for sure that this ride is one of the small group of rides I really miss being here in México. Ride it, you wont be dissapointed at all.
Splash Mountain is a Log Flume kind of ride, but believe me, you will compeltely forget about that when you be riding it... Great songs, funny characters and some drops get together to create one hell of a ride. You want thrills? Wait until you get to the last drop... Want some fun? Then sing along this cartoony characters who tell a tale in their lyrics. Watch the bad guys torture the good rabbit before the fall, after that, the good triumphs over evil, an always-good moral of a fable for children...
Disney once said that he prefered to entertain and hope this entertainmet communicated some education. This ride, along with many others, show his dream come true. You can ride Jungle Cruise as a person persuing adventure, a man hungry for information, or just a simple guest looking for some fun and laughters. Information about animals, enviroments and four of the most important rivers of the world is here, along with jokes, shots and even some real ducks from time to time. Scenery is wonderful, I love specially the great waterfall and the "Inspiration Waterfall" at the very beginning. A ride were the animals are allways there to watch
This Haunted Mansion achieves everything. It has funny parts, frightening parts, interesting characters, silly ghosts, tormented souls. It keeps the suffering of death and the happiness of the afterlife inside a single Mansion. It has something for kids and adults alike. Its special effects are superior to any haunted house of any park around the world. Its story development is great. The Ghost Host is one of the greatest characters in WDW Theme Parks, is a tormented soul, a man who commited suicide. He hates afterlife as he likes it... Seeing him hanging over me was a frightening vision. Definetively a ride to have fun and to think and be scared by the sole idea of living after dying.
I think Big Thunder Mountain is one of those rides that marked the history of amusement parks forever. Is not the greatest ride in magic Kingdom, but, if broken, is a huge pity. Onece I went to MK and the ride was closed, I almost cry. Is a must have for the park and a must-ride. Together with Space Mountain is the best example of a wonderfully themed roller coaster... And that makes a LOT of difference
I thought this was a great show. Even though it was been replaced with Food Rocks! I am glad that they just revamped it with a show that was extremely similiar instead of completely taking it out. The new Food Rocks! show is very good and still in the same feel as Kitchen Cabaret. Veggie veggie, fruit fruit, veggie veggie fruit....
I hate this ride... Please see my review of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
I hate Winnie the Pooh..... This was one of the best rides in the Magic Kingdom, probably my favorite as a kid and they replaced it with an ugly bear named after a waste product. If I were Toad I would be insulted. Sorry if that was harsh... I'm very bitter... and I hate Winnie the Pooh, did I mention that?
This ride scares me to death! :) The harness are extremely uncomfortable! I know its part of the ride, but its too loud in there!
I did love this ride when it was open. It was something fun and interesting to go on. As a kid I actually thought we were going deep underwater! I actually obtained a video of closed ride attractions from a man on ebay. A taped ride of the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was on there and it brought back so many memories! We miss you Nautilis!
The Comedy Warehouse quickly became a favorite of my wife and I after our first visit a few years back. Now everytime we go to WDW it's on our list EVERY single night! We even went for a show after our weddding reception! MUST, MUST SEE!!!
We go to PI for two reasons. The Comedy Club and The Adventures club. The first time we went to the AC we almost turned right around and walked out. It was just plain wierd. But I didn't want to be rude, so I told my hubby one soda and we are out of here.... But a few minutes later there was a show in the mask room, and then on to the library and the treasure room... Well, let's just say we stayed longer than the time to drink one soda. If it's your first time... give it a chance. We are sure glad we did!
We hit at least one (sometimes two) shows any night we go to Pleasure Island The cast is great at making even the wierdest suggestions funny. So be bold and shout out suggestions when they ask for them. They had to sing a love song entitled "oh I wish I had a head of cheese" for my Husband! It was great.
Ok, I love to spin!!! What can I say. I make my husband go on with me every trip. He has to be careful not to look up or he will get very very sick! But he is good for spinning the wheel super fast! So if you ever hear someone laughing their head off while a guy spins with his head down... That's probably me! It is a pretty short ride, but if it was any longer it may get messy!
3, 2 , 1 Here we go 0-60 in 2.9 secs feels faster then that. This is my favorite ride in all of WDW. The ride is great but has some things that needs to be done 1. When you are outside the wait is so boring they need to enclose this. 2. The ride is so short feels like 1 min. total. besides this ride rocks. The location is great because its close to the entrance and its right next to the second best ride in the park TOT.
Since adding the random frop sequence, it has truley entered into a league of it's own curently being the only ride in the world where the expereince is can be different each time.
Great Show!!!! Its amazing the redo they did whit this show INCREDIBLE!
Its was done the cheap way!!! and I if have seen the one in Tokio you will hate this one!!!
The Mad Tea Party. Walt Disney World has turned the word "teacups" into a ride it it's own. Most people refer to spinning rides like these at any park as "teacups". Thanks to Alice in Wonderland, "teacups" are a national term. But what about the ride, I must say, it's good fun, if you are with the right people. And by right people I mean people who want to spin that sucker around and get dizzy. That's the point of the ride. It has great theming with the all the wacky Wonderland stuff surrounding the ride. The music is straight from the movie, so of course it's awesome! If this line isn't huge, like it sometimes can get, then I say definently give it a try. It's pure Disney fun.
This is a very underrated ride. It is not high or fast, but I like the music and theming. Very fun!
ok, so it is just a big advertisment for Coke products.... but it's fun to sample different sodas from around the world. (best of all it's free!) Be warned though, take small sips until you know if it's going to be tasty. Beverly (italian?) it truly nasty!
It is not a zoo! Lions, and Tigers, and T-rex oh my! the newest of the parks at WDW but certainly not the least. This park has thrill rides like Dinosaur and Kali. It has kid rides like Triceratop Spin and Boneyard. Educational throughout the park. Great Shows like Festival of the lion king, Tough to be a bug, Tarzan. And of course the animals themselves. Great place, make sure you visit it.
Lights Camera, Action! Well when you find yourself in this park you realize you are on the T.V. camera too! Hi Mom! haha. Anyway MGM is great Star Tours and Fantasmic! were great! Unfortunatly I did not get to go through all of any of the parks but what I did I loved. I can not wait to go again! I will be going in eleven months! The park is great, absolutely great. Hint: Don't miss Fantasmic!
Well Epcot has it all, that is all the things you never heard about. With areas like HISTA and Figment Imagination, and Test Track and the new Mission Space, gives Epcot a boost of thrill, still Epcot lacks characters and excitement. Excitement would draw in the older crowd and Characters would draw the kids on in. Still Epcot hasn't done a bad job. It looks very futuristic. World Showcase has the same problems as Future World. More characters and more excitement. But it has also done a good job however it does need more lands. So I think Epcot could use some work but it is all right for right now.
Magic Kingdom was well named. I mean with Alien Encounter, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Cinderella's Castle it all just captivates you. With more rides like Haunted Mansion and CoP and Tiki Room and so many more. I just love this place. Your favorite stories come to life. There is no fantasy here because everything is a reality. The only fantasy would be to believe in no fantasy because you are surronded by it. Mickey and the Princess's come and greet you. Your favorite heroes and villians come and shake your hand or smile your way. I can not explain it all. You just have to see it to well to believe it all.
The best eva! great theming, great thrills-what else could you ask for? doodododo doodododo you have now entered...THE TWILIGHT ZONE *lights flicker off*
WHY? I ask you WHY? This should NEVER HAVE EXISTED AT ALL!
The high thrill rating is due to the thrill of seeing all those animals up close. Go early and you can do it twice with little, if any, waiting. The animals are the story here. Bring lots of high-speed film. Always are great time.
Not a bad ride... just not all that exciting... maybe more speed or even sharper turns. It was ok but after you have been on others like space mountain this just seems kind of boring. Good for kids that are just starting to get into more thrilling rides.
A pretty good attraction. It was definitely scarier when i saw it 3 years ago. I am almost sure they toned it down because before it was just plain scary. Overall pretty good but a few more special effects would make it that much better.
An excellent thrill attraction. Putting a roller coaster indoors just seems to make it that much faster. Good and consistent theming. A great thrill ride in a small amount of space. I wish the ride was about 30 seconds longer but you can't have everything. That initial surge is probably the most intense thrill in any Disney park anywhere.
Quite simply, this is the worst idea for a Disney Attraction I have ever seen. Try sitting in the complete dark for 12 minutes with your children. I can't imagine that this attraction gets any repeat traffic at all. I agree with the concept of a sound effect attaction at Disney Studios. This one is awful.
I can't say I enjoyed this very much at all. My children are 2 and 5 and frankly, the sudden loud noises and smells scared them. I don't understand the emphasis on eliminating all of the Omnimover rides at Epcot. This was an uneven ride. I have no problem doing the same ride over and over again if it is a pleasant distraction. I had no interest in doing this again. I have no problem with changing rides and improving them. This one was not an improvement.
