What a waste of space and resources. is there too much Michael Jackson fans out there?. Don't think so.
Just ok. Very similar to the seas with Nemo (the epcot ride). I was expecting something original and new.
The gist of this attraction is that a talking skull is planning on training you to become a pirate, which he does by conjuring up literally everything that probably should be reserved for fighting after training has been completed, such as Davy Jones, the Kraken, and a very attractive horde of mermaids. The technology in this is some of the best from Disney in quite a while, but it strays into a rather childish game of Follow the Leader, thus splitting the attraction down the middle in regards to audience appeal. What Worked: A horde of skeletons climbs into the cave and surrounds you, and when a child holds up (what else?) a skeleton key, bands of energy, light, (or amped up pixie dust if you prefer) drive them back. There's also two animatronic skeletons that move when the animated ones appear, which I thought made that sequence a little more realistic than the others. Davy Jones' ship periodically appears and fires at us, causing "dents" to appear in whatever he hits, and the same goes for when Jack Sparrow's gun goes off. When the water rises, and the mermaids start swimming around you, it is very realistic and a little bit creepy, even at my age. The floating skull looks really nice in both rooms as well. Jack Sparrow looks as though he's actually in the room, and his dialogue is quite funny. Lightning effects crisscrossing the room and the ship are extremely well done. What Didn't: The experience is divided. The first half is geared explicitly towards small children. We're told to shout "Send those bones to Davy Jones!" and to stomp our feet to drown out the mermaid song. That's great for anyone under the age of seven, but nearly everyone in the room did as they were told quietly and with an embarrassed look on their face. When the mermaids arrive, it gets creepy, which is great for anyone over the age of seven, but the audience the attraction was specifically geared towards twelve seconds ago is now cowering on the floor in a pool of tears. Yet another ten seconds pass and we're back to shouting rhymes and roaring at the Kraken. Yep, roaring. This is where the technology begins to fail us. The Kraken is bigger than the screen, and so we're forced to look at a closeup of an orifice that really looks like it belongs in the movie Teeth. Note: Do not watch that movie. Also, Davy Jones sounds terrible. I'm not sure what happened to Bill Nighy, but this guy sounds like a Scot who's trying to read his lines while simultaneously swallowing a lobster whole. When the main mermaid appears, she appears on the deck of Jack's ship. Um, what? Mermaids can't be out of water, and she's just floating in the darkness of the hull before the water rises. The final sequence is awkward; Jack and the Skull don't seem to know what to do, so they throw you out. Overall, I enjoyed myself, which is the point, I guess, but the attraction has some issues that, if fixed, would make this a great minor attraction. Really, though, the attraction suffers from jumping from overly-childish to strikingly adult; it would be very beneficial to reign in the extremes, especially on the childish side, if this is to be considered a family attraction.
Overall a disappointing update....The people who posted good reviews are the same people who thought the new Tron and the Pirates of the Caribbean series were great movies....Don't believe them....Not a terrible ride but a good example of how Disney will slide by with the mediocre instead of demanding excellence nowadays....
Why on earth are there two a day? One is more than enough. Once stuck somewhere, you are there for a good hour will this thing drags on and on. Which it would be really nice of them to start the parade when they say that they are starting it in the guide. Lo and behold, 30 minutes prior; the streets are closed and here comes high school marching bands. And forget about leaving the park when it's happening unless you are on the side of the park with the other exit. The parade music is nerve wracking as well.
I rated low because my wife and I & my 2 kids 9 and 11 were in the front row in the far left corner and could not see anything. Could not see the screen behind the boat and the boat itself blocks the screen that Capt Jack is talking virtually from. The eployees need to keep people back to experience the show better. We loved Disney alltogether.
Mary you're the best! I loved the tour and all the beautiful things in it but an extra special thanks to you for involving my daughter but in such a clever way while still including everyone. You are so knowledgeable and informative and you instilled some real value about our world for me and my child:) Tour 11/28/2012
The new Test Track is impressive in many ways. The futuristic theme finally makes this pavilion worthy of being in "Future" World, and updates it in such a way that it'll stay relevant for the foreseeable future (or at least the next couple decades ;). It's fun, and I'm sure I'll be going on it many more times, but as I was heading home I couldn't help feeling there was something different about this ride than any other ride at Walt Disney World. And now that I think about it I realize what it was. The new Test Track is too cold. As in there's a lack of a human element. They updated it with the futuristic so much that it fails to highlight in any way the people behind the design aspect. There's some monitors in the early part of the pre-show that shows a few glimpses of humans but as the ride progresses it turns into a robotic, monotone voice that guides you through the experience. Past those first couple screens by the entrance, there's no humans represented in the rest of the attraction. Whereas the original ride had Bill McKim and his assistant Sherrie (the two hosts from the briefing room) take you through the ride, here it feels very disconnected from reality. Of course that might have been the direction Imagineering was going for, but its sort of a bummer for me to see there's very little focus on the people who make these vehicle designs a reality. Speaking of reality, if I was in charge of the project, one of the things I would have done is enclose the whole outdoor portion of the track (make it sort of like a high-speed tunnel). I guess it didn't bug me too much in the old ride cause it took place in the present, but now that it takes place in the far future it makes no sense mid-ride to exit right out into the bright Florida sun going down a track through backstage of all places. And the other thing that makes the transition so jarring is before the outdoor portion you have so much futuristic music and imagery going on and once you exit the building, boop, no music or voice or sfx, nothing plays on the outside loop. Its the sort of thing that might give a first time rider the feeling of "Am I still on the ride?" since it's such a jarring disconnect between futuristic and reality. So that's just my two cents. Is it a good ride? Yup. In fact they did a lot of things right. But for me it's those two things that sort of throws it off from it being a "perfect" ride.
Test track was one of my favorite rides so I had high hopes for the refurbishment. I'm pretty sad though because they removed everything I loved about Test Track (theming, crash test dummies, the corny but endearing preshow video, etc.) and they replaced it with darkness, neon lights and a nonsensical "design a car" bit. Designing a car doesn't affect your experience at all, so all of my fellow riders and myself thought it was kind of pointless. The new theme is hard to follow. Even though it was the same track, it was hard to understand what in the world was going on. If it were a brand new ride I might have been able to give it more credit, but I definitely think it was a mistake to gut the original for this one. :(
My family and I have been going to Disney World for decades, being that we live in Ft. Lauderdale it's only a 3 hour drive. When we heard they were adding The American Idol Experience we were thrilled! My daughter and I are both singers and wanted to give it a shot! It is truly an amazing experience! They did such a great job in re-creating the actual American Idol TV set. The whole process is amazing....you start out singing an a capella audition in a small sound quality room. (This is actually better then the real show where you audition in an auditorium with NO acoustics). If you pass the first audition, ( I suggest not holding back with your voice and personality to get by this first step), you then move on to the producers room where you sing two songs to a musical track. (I highly recommend you go online and look up the "American Idol Experience Song List" of over 120 songs. After you find a few songs you like I also HIGHLY recommend you go on YOUTube and search for that song + American Idol Experience. see if anyone has posted that song and learn the track ahead of time! They cast 5 shows a day, 7 shows during peak times. The audience votes, which makes a total of 5 winners. Those winners go on to the Grand Finale show later that night. The winner of the Finale gets a "Dream Ticket". Which gives them a "Front of the line pass" to any audition to The TV Show. The very cool thing which also make this so credible is: 5 of the top 13 contestants for last year's American Idol TV show won the Dream Ticket at Disney's American idol Experience. My daughter and I have been on the show many times and continue to come back as regulars!! If you like American idol ....you must go and experience this! If you Love to sing.....give it a try!
God. This ride was bad. I was 4 and went to Disney World, and waited 1 HOUR for this because I watched Lilo and Stitch every morning. Never again. My head almost got crushed by the restraint, I screamed worse than on SWSA, I heard loud blasts of noises, disgusting smells, and saliva. Worst ride ever. I will never go on this again. If you are a Lilo and Stitch fan, it's so bad, YOU'LL even want to never go back. Avoid this at all costs.
My daughter inherited my fear of open heights and it appears to have transferred to roller coasters. There is something about the nothing but open air and steel between you and the ground that makes us both sweat. Combine that with pitch dark, and the Aerosmith Coaster and Space Mountain nearly did her in. But Expedition Everest is different. With the exception of one not so bad climb, the coaster is built into the mountain. My daughter rode it with great fear the first time, and left wanting to ride it again. And she tallied close to 20 rides when we were done. Because of the smaller crowds at Animal Kingdom, the ride is seldom very busy, which is a shame because it's a thriller. ALthough there are dark patches and a "Yeti", it isn't very scary. Those with sensitive stomachs may want to give themselves a rest after riding it, but the ride is not rough or long to make you too queasy. Highly recommended. And you can buy yourself a yeti afterward!
Disney had a great idea here, using a simulated safari to see real animals from the safety of a vehicle. While I understand that the idea was to make it both look and feel like a safari, Disney's engineers went overboard creating a road full of deep potholes and bumpy terrain that makes it nearly impossible to comfortably see and take pictures of the animals along the way, especially a standard digital camera. The animals are breathtaking (and indeed, almost seem too staged to be real) and it's cool to be relatively close, but the ride makes it a less enjoyable experience. I'd have preferred a few "rough" segments of the ride between animal viewing areas to the ridiculously bumpy trek Disney designed. It's a fun ride, but it may leave you sore.
Go Karts on their own rail that allow you to sort of steer back and forth and accelerate while being led around a path. I understand why this ride is still here, given it's history, but it is too slow moving and hard to use what limited control you have to be any fun. Your kids probably will enjoy the sensation of driving, though.
The Journey of the Little Mermaid is essentially a ride through the Little Mermaid story, both "Under the Sea" and above ground. It appears that they're still working out some early glitches, including a very unfortunate experience trying to board the ride with a wheelchair bound guest. Disney has not marked the lines well for wheelchairs or trained its staff on how to handle them. Additionally, the undersea cave wall structure gives the ride lines a very enclosed feel that didn't do much for my claustrophobia. The ride itself is your basic rotating vehicle ride like Haunted Mansion, and you go through various scenes from the movie, heavy on music and dancing characters, light on any real story (but you knew the story coming in). Perhaps due to the fact that the attraction is new, there appeared to be some seams showing in the Disney magic. There were animated items that appeared not to be working and the floors and some of the gearing for the ride were plainly visible in a way not normally seen on a Disney ride. This is a must ride for fans of the movie and young kids. Anyone who isn't a fan might appreciate it for the scenery, music, and colors, but can skip it without missing much.
This park is the neatest park out of all of them. Even though there are very few rides, the rides that are there are VERY cool. It is so fun to walk around world showcase, and see all the different countries and their cultures. Although I wish there were a few more rides, this park is the best ever.
I love the Muppets, so this is always a fun show for me to see! Even if you don't like the Muppets this show will make you laugh! Although it's age is beginning to show, this is one of the Studio's best attractions. Be sure to check out all the cool stuff in the pre-show!
Figment is a rather unimaginative trip into the imagination starring Eric Idle. The preshow actually seems to have more creativity than the rather lame setup of this ride, which has a dragonlike character named Figment ruining the creative labs of Eric Idle's character. Like many rides we've seen this go around at Disney, there is some obvious aging and wear that needs to be addressed. The first thing you notice here is a completely faded picture of Idle and Figment that looks like it's been hanging there since 1985. It's cute, but slight.
For a "rehabbed" attraction, this seems to be the same as the last time I was here, only worse. The opening demonstration of water effects was demolished by a young cast member mumbling his lines in a soft rush that couldn't be heard at all. The tour itself is mostly the same, down to a boneyard that's become a weathered junkyard of mostly unidentifiable junk that nobody will ever use again. Disney should kill this or make the Catastrophe Canyon into a short section of the demonstration. Since there isn't much production happening here, it seems as though they're just faking it. Maybe they should turn it into a walk through the imagineering process.
Another Disney Ride in need of an update and perhaps an audit of the performers. While our "Guide" was enthusiastic, her "replacement" was terrible, going through the motions and mumbling into the microphone. This ride could use a severe update. I'd say it's fun if you haven't seen it, but if you have the guide we had today, it loses whatever magic it has left.
I have always enjoyed the "4D" attractions at Disney, but it seems as though Disney's maintenance program involves making sure the film is running in the projector. When we saw this today, the water spraying gag was completely gone, the bubble machine appeared to be working only for the left side of the theater, and the entire show seemed rather effectless beyond what was on the screen. This most recent trip to Disney has shown a disappointing lack of attention to detail that used to be the hallmark of Disney World. It's better than it being closed, but still.
This is probably the best ride in EPCOT, but a general lower standard of maintenance I noticed this year also applies to Soarin'. The film and/or projector is filthy, and as debris flies through the projector, it gets blown up to proportions that look like birds in the distance. This cheapens the experience somewhat. Perhaps it's time for Disney to figure out a way to do this attraction without having to use film.
Went on it for the cast preview of the refurbished Test Track and it is just unbelievable what they did with it. Walking through the queue line alone I was speechless and once you get to the ride all you can do is feel excited and anxious to see it and it will be well worth whatever wait it'll have. Once it opens on December 6th 2012 it will be the most must do ride that Disney World has.
In my list, This and California Screamin' are tied, but rocking roller coaster has more speed, and turns, also the music is WAY louder than on screamin' , But for screaming its a little more fun, but i have a feeling some one you are gonna not like me for saying i like screamin' more, but rockin roller coaster had an awesome soundtrack and 3 inversions!, its an awesome ride id have to say! 9.5/10 (scale won't get the 9.5, so it'll show up as nine, but the actual is 9.5)
This was an attraction that my DS and I enjoyed on our May 2010 trip. The revamp was hyped and we were pumped to give it a whirl during our September trip. We rode 5 times and each was a different experience. The highlight of our day in Hollywood Studios was the last of these rides. For those who don't know, the story is that you have a rebel spy hiding on board. Prior to take off, someone, usually Vader, stops your ship and identifies the spy which is one of the riders. First four rides, my son had his hopes dashed. After the 4th ride we left to meet up with my wife and daughter. He was upset, but he is 8 and got over it quick. This process was moved along by me agreeing to pay to have his face painted like Darth Mauls. This was done at a stand across from TSMM. It was well done, but in a case study on why I am campaigning for the repeal of the 19th amendment, every male that commented on his face paint identified it as Darth Maul and every woman called him Spiderman. Anyway, he asked if we could ride again to see if they would pick him. I agreed but told him to try to be ok if they do not pick him. We get into our seats and he was selected. He was the Rebel Spy. He beamed for the rest of the night. When we got off the ship, which of course deposits you in a gift shop, I spotted a "I was the Rebel Spy" t-shirt. He did not see it and I was given the perfect daddy out. If he did not see it it did not happen. This was tempting because, eventhough we were only on our 3rd day of a 6 day vacation he had spent all of his $60 gift card after I warned him to hold off. At that point I realized a couple of things. One, I was trying to talk since to an 8 year old when most adults lack the ability to budget. And second, I had the chance to earn serious dad points. So, he I bought him the shirt. *Unintended consequence alert* If you try to look good by buying a $25 shirt for your son, realize you will have to buy something of equal, or greater, value for your daughter. Dang you George Lucas. And keeping with all my other reviews, I have to find a way to work in an insult of Pecos Bill........ Ok, I have it..... Unlike Pecos Bill, Star Tours is so good, that I did not get violently ill considering experiencing it again. Taaaadaaaaaaa. Recap- Star Tours: A Pecos Bill: Hopefully going to be turned in to a DVC booth.
Finally, on my 5th trip to WDW, I rode SSE. As a certified coward, I always assumed it would be scary. To anyone who has experienced SSE this was obviously a silly thought. The AA could probably use an update and the audio could use a little tweaking. This took nothing away from enjoying the experience. And with the large ride capacity, this is an easy ride to hop on with minimal waits.
Even though sometimes it has a long wait, it's worth it. I am nine years old, and I thought it would be a little freaky at first, but at the end of the ride I loved it and I would definitely go on it again. Unfortunately, we weren't able to go on it again because of the park closing hours. It's still an awesome ride even though we went on it once.
First, my score. I gave it a one because I was afraid if I did not, you would think it was an accidental omission. This attraction is the worse thing to happen to Disney World since, I don't know..... Harry Potter. I say that as a 32 year old man who grew up listening to the mostly sane Michael Jackson of Thriller and Billie Jean fame. So, when I went in September, I took DW, DD5, and DD8, to try out EO. First strike is the video they show before the main event. Whenever you push the fact that Francis Ford Copolla (sic?) and George Lucas were, along with Michael Jackson, were driving forces behind the attraction, you have certain expectations. My advice, stop. If the guests only walk in expecting 80s nostalgia, the disappointment will be reduced. Note: I say reduced, not eliminated. Second strike is the actual movie. It was cheesy. I lived the 80s and know what chessy is and Captain EO, you are cheesy. If Dune had a love child with Ice Pirates, that kid would grow up looking down on Captain EO. Guys, and ladies, I cannot stress this enough.....STAY AWAY. Only watch this if you enjoy punishing a family member that has been bugging you the entire trip. I would advise updating this attraction but cannot think of a way that would work. Captain PSU, the Paterno years? Makes as much sense as having an attraction headlined by Michael Jackson in a place that caters to kids. This attraction must be stopped, again. Better uses for this area: - yet another DVC counter - interactive telemarketers booth - "Fun With Gout" - "Estaban's Gift Of Guitar" Any other ideas should be forwarded to TDO. Listen, I am the ultimate Disney Dork. The glass is always half full and all four parks are perfect and all that fun stuff. I can spend all day riding Splash, which, if you listen to 80% of posters on this page, is one broken down AA from ushering in the end of the world. I say Universal is the evil empire. Guys, I am your typical WDW cheerleader. But this attraction is the biggest joke in the park.
It took me 41 trips to get around to going to this park. Very sad, I know. When I eventually did get to go to this park, I was happy to do so. And it is a very nice water park. But it isn't Blizzard Beach, nor will it ever be. It has some great rides. Crush n' Gusher, the water coaster, is a fast, thrilling, unique water slide that is worth the trip. The wave pool is another great feature (even though everyone knows that the wave is coming, they still scream every time). I think I spent about 2 hours in there just swimming and jumping waves. Humunga Calibunga is a toned-down version of Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach for those of us who want something a little less intense (and less wedgie-producing). There just seems to be something lacking in the park compared to the newer Blizzard Beach. The attention to detail is missing. At Blizzard Beach, you are always looking at something that features some sort of corny joke (Snowman's land, keep out! And the snowmaking machines). Here, it's just very bland like some of the story is missing. Also, forget Shark Reef unless you get there early. The line is long, the attraction is short, and the snorkels taste like antiseptic (though you can use your own if you have them). While there are a few great attractions here, the rides overall are better at Blizzard Beach. There are more slides, the Family Raft ride is way better, and you are likely to get wetter on the lazy river (which can be fun or not-so-much, depending on your point of view). This is a very nice park. But given the choice, I'll take Blizzard Beach any day.
I still remember watching the construction of this giant mountain from across the water at Flame Tree Barbeque's seating area. I remember watching the pieces come together. Then I remember standing in line for about 2 hours on a pass holder preview date, waiting to ride this monster of a roller coaster. And that was just to get a Fastpass. And I've been on it too many times to count since then. This is most definitely the best roller coaster on property. Why? The drop. It's big, it's intense, and it makes your heart feel like it's leaping out of your chest. The backwards sequence. You feel almost like you are going to go upside down. And the Yeti (which has since stopped working, but hopefully they will fix it soon). It's big. It's bad. It's quite scarey. Do not ride this if you have a heart condition. Those with back or neck problems should be okay as the track is nice and smooth, but you should be careful if you have a very severe back problem. The height requirement is 44 inches. I would not put a child under about 7 years of age on this as it gets quite intense unless said child likes other thrill rides (not just Big Thunder Mountain or Star Tours, but Tower of Terror or Rock 'n Rollercoaster).
When people ask me what my favorite attraction in Walt Disney World is, I used to say I didn't know. But now the answer is clear: Star Tours. Ever since they redid this amazing attraction, I have considered it to be my favorite without a doubt, and not simply because I am a Star Wars nerd (see the name?) The old Star Tours was, to be frank, just that. OLD! I never used to like it, since it would make me motion sick. It felt like you were in a big box that's moving and shaking you around (which, well, it what it is) and not like a flight through space. Let's face it, the technology utilized in Mission: Space left Star Tours in the dust, and wait times were declining more and more, and going up and up on other rides (coughToyStoryManiacough). The technology on this one is completely awesome. It no longer makes me motion sick because it feels more real than the old technology did. And get ready for it: It's in 3D!!! Even if 3D normally gives you a headache, like it used to do for me, this technology is much better and is less likely to make you dizzy or give you a headache. Another problem with the old attraction was the lack of it being "Star Wars". If you come to a park expecting Star Wars, you want Star Wars. You saw the Death Star and some rebel troupes, and that was it. Additionally, the only three characters from the films in the original were Chewbacca, Threepio, and Artoo, and all of them made brief appearances. In this attraction, Threepio plays a prominent role, and you can see other characters too, but not all at once. Why? There are many new combinations of experiences on Star Tours. There's around 15 elements that can be combined in many different ways. So sometimes, you'll see Darth Vader. Other times, you meet Gunguns on Naboo (Episode 1 reference) with Jarjar Binks, the most unpopular Star Wars character ever, making a brief cameo. Princess Leia may send you a hologram, with specific instructions to help the rebellion. You may get to visit the ice world of Hoth (Episode 5), but not without encountering a few imperial walkers. The possibilities are endless. Characters appearing include Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, among others. Although the actual layout of the ride hasn't changed much, the Queue area is very cool. There are many droids doing their duty throughout, signs, and information boards to make it seem like a real spaceport. And the droids? Be careful, you may get picked out by them. Captain Rex (from the original Star Tours) even makes an appearance, so look out for him. Consensus? The new Star Tours is a MUST SEE!!! The ride is set in between the events of episodes 3 and 4, and is a prequel to the original, set after episode 6.
This ride is great for everyone. Typical of Disney, the enitre ride is great. From the qeue area, to the actual ride, and even into the load off area everything is themed to a tee. The ride is smooth, not bumby or uncomfortable. It doesn't go too fast for the kids and not too slow to be boring. This is a must ride every time you are at Disney. It's a welcome change from the played out rollercoaster, it's very different. A good different. It never gets old!
My daughter who is a HUGE Star Wars fan loved this ride. She said that Star Tours is the best ride ever. We had to go on it four times. When we go in December we are probably going on it four times or more, which is what we did the last time we were there.
My daughter and I went on the green team several times and absolutely loved it. It is a bit claustrophobic, however, it is well worth it and provides what I would imagine is a fairly realistic experience. To us, it is not just the ride, it is also the ambiance that Disney provides for all their attractions. Very few I am ever not overjoyed with.
WOW wife kids (5+6) and I went on this ride to finish out the day at Epcot. We started with the green and found it was pretty good even my five year old who didn't like the Pirates of the Caribbean loved this ride. I had a real smart idea lets do the orange before the fireworks so we got right in and the first 3 seconds of the ride I new I was in trouble, the G forces are way more than the green. Though the ride was not for me it was quite the experience and my kids loved it and wanted to go on it again. I on the other hand found a bottle of water and a bench and tried not to barf, even though I underestimated the G forces and felt sick after I still appreciate a great ride thats why I rated it that high.
Super jealous of our Disneyfriends going to WDW today. / Reviewed 'Ariel's Grotto' video soft opening..all I can say is "WOW". The architecture and realistic surroundings are amazing !!! Two thumbs up to the Imagineers. Can't wait to see it live in Oct. 2013..celebrating our 40th Anniversary !!!!!
This ride has been around for many, many years with little or NO updating. After a time or two on this lethargic ride throughout the years, there is no way that this can ever be fun. Maybe if you need somewhere to sit for a few minutes, or to get out of the sun or rain, then this will suffice. Otherwise, it's boring, old, and is an embarrassment to both Norway and Disney. Get those imagineers in there to update this dinosaur.
Sort of missing the song that made the ride a classic.
I absolutely love Space Mountain. You don't find these types of great roller coasters in almost any amusement park. I love the pace, the dark, and the queue line. They all make up what an awesome ride this really is.
This is a MUST RIDE, It´s super cool and awesome. I like it very much, a classic Disney Roller Coaster.
I have a simple rule when it comes to rides or attractions. It is not unreasonable. As a confirmed coward, I avoid Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, etc. If I can see my way onto riding a ride, I am fairly confident that I will, A. survive and B. somewhat enjoy the ride (see Splash Mountain). But my one hard and fast rule is that, if you can get in a sprinter's stance ( in a completely empty line) and run as fast as you can through the queue, and it take longer than the actual ride, go back to the drawing board. THIS RIDE IS TOO SHORT! That said, it was fun. But at 3-5 minutes in length, it is not worth it guys. Even if you have a FP, by the time you make your way through the marathon that is Kali Rapid's queue, it is a waste of your time.
Wow I went right after the last night of Mickey's not so scary howllween party and in one night they took every thing down, orange and black then turned it in to one of the best disney vacation ever! I smiled the whole way through! I mean everyone has too cause it is a mix of Chirstmas and Disney together. It fits for everybody how enters.... little ones, teens, and adults. Don't look at pics it so much better in person; l think the best part is Cinderella's home is so so so cool! How can a person not like it? Take a sniff when the parade comes through! So real. :)
Circus, that does not in anyway fit into disney world. What would Walt Disney think of this, I have an idea!
The great movie ride is one of my rides in Hollywood studios. I enjoyed that ride everytime I go to disneyworld with my family. My favorite parts in the ride are Gangster and the cowboy/cowgirl scene. Do I recommend this ride? Absolutely. It's action pack and A great ride for the whole family.
Well, thunder mountain train is broken again, happens saturday at 4:35PM. they just removed this attraction and it s seems that i break now more than before and there was a young lady, blonde, with bad attitude. i guess they never learn...
We absolutely love the Notorious Banjo Brothers. These guys are so talented and our favorite of all the WDW live entertainment acts. We make it point to hang around in Frontier Land so that we can catch at least a couple of their shows.
Yes, it's a good show, but I am not one for things jumping out at me or poking me in the back. Plus, I hate bugs. Therefore, if you're like me, avoid this ride!!
I think people expect this ride to be more than it actually is. It is just a cute themed Wild-mouse coaster! I've always enjoyed it, but can understand if some people find it too jerky.
This ride is really unique in that you have no barrier between you and the animals!! It makes the ride exciting and interesting!! The storyline is so-so, but the guides are always great!!
I like to ride this ride when it's hot out, or cold with a poncho!! It does however lack good theming and is way too short! It is fun to get wet and bond with the people in your boat though!
This is such a thrilling and amazing coaster!!! However, it does not get a 10 because the Yeti, the central part of the whole ride, is not working. Therefore, if you do not look up at a certain point, you completely miss it. Something really needs to be done to this otherwise wonderful ride!!!
It's a great ride, but definitely the one that scares me the most!!! I'm not one for things popping out at me!!!
If you have to wait in line for longer than a half hour, it probably wouldn't be worth it.
This attraction, last time I rode it (July 13, 2012) was VERY outdated. It is very, very, very old and need a major refurb. Although, it is still quite entertainable and there's still some funny moments. The dino-rama scene is pretty old as well. Overall, I think it was a very great well themed ride. Honestly, who else could put Jeapordy, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Ellen into a ride? I can give it some props for being very awesome for it's time, but I think we need something new here. Still, I would recommened seeing it on your trip.
Captain EO is one of the most weirdest, unique attractions you can find in the parks! It's got that good Michael Jackson music, and it was a good replacement for Honey, I Shrunk the Audience.. for now. I can see this getting a good replacement sometime soon, along with the rest of the pavilion it lives in. But it has my respect for now. It's alot of fun and with the effects it got to use from HISTA (Bouncing auditorium, new lights, ect.) it made it even more enjoyable. Plus it's very loud so you can get into the music and start tapping your feet. It's characters are very strange yet loveable and I could consider this 1986 treasure a "not to miss!"
I remember going to the Wonders of Life pavilion as a tradition to going to EPCOT. And for 2 main reasons: Cranium Command, and Body Wars. Body Wars I can understand to make some people feel a little sick. Which is why my sister or mother wouldn't ride it. But I loved it. And for being EPCOT's first thrill ride, I give it some props! IT had a great storyline and very good theming. No it's not Star Tours. But it has it's own little thing that makes it special. Of course I've never been born when it had long waits, I went when it was always 5 minutes or less. Which was fine by me! This ride will be missed and is an important step in EPCOT's time. (:
I was only about like, 7 when I saw this. I was 14. But I can still look back and remember it quite well. As well as re-living it on YouTube. The script and song-parodies is what made the show! It was quite hilarious and was very entertaining to watch. I think I would have preferred for it to replace Symbiosis/Circle of Life rather than BE replaced by Soarin'. This was one of my favorite things to do at EPCOT even tho it wasn't very well known. The Audio Animatronics weren't the best tho, so that's why I don't give it a 10.
Truly a special secret and a great way to end your night!
I've always loved this attraction yet it is outdated and should be updated and revamped, much like Star Tours. Remember, this was the same film from over twenty years ago!
This parade is a must-see. Great, bouncy music, colorful, bright lights and all those floats from classic Disney films. It only comes to MK once in a while, so be sure to see it if it's in town!
This is, by no means, a thrill ride. But it's still fun, despite what the review below states. The theming is great, and it's a nice chance to rest and enjoy the typical Disney touches.
I honestly wish I could do negative ratings because this was the worst thing I have ever experienced. It makes me physically sick to my stomach. Halfway through the ride the troll which looks like a piece of wood made out of plastic pops up and says some curse to make you go backwards. After we went backwards at speeds of 2.4mph and plummeted down a 2ft drop. We finally came to the final room where there was nothing but wallpaper with crudely painted oil rigs on it. A sad disappointment for children and adults of all ages. The funniest part is that there was a 1 hour line after I went on it.
My experience on Friday 13 April 2012 has left 10-year-old grandson saying "Disney is where dreams are shattered". He was desperate to be in the Jedi Knights training. 13 Apr was our last day and we had to be out of the park by 11.30am to catch flight back to London. We looked up the opening time (9am) on the website and arrived much earlier so he could register for the first session at 10.30. But there were already 100s, maybe 1000s of Resort Hotel folk being let in from 8am. We were let in at 9am and rushed to Jedi Knights training registration but when we got there the earliest session he could do was after 12 noon - too late to catch the flight home. There was nothing on the calendar webpage for 13 Apr saying Resort Hotel folk would be let in early. If there had been we wouldn't have got up early & driven for 30 mins only to find it was impossible to register for the only session he could have done to leave in time to catch the flight home. I had one very very disappointed grandson as a result of this experience. Why didn't the opening time calendar entry for 13 Apr state very clearly that Hotel folk would be allowed in 1 hour before the general opening at 9am? However, we did spend all day on Wed 11 April in the park and thoroughly enjoyed it. Grandson didn't do Jedi Knight training then because we realized too late in the day you had to register in advance, unlike when we last visited 4 years ago when children were picked out of the crowd for the training. That's why we decided to try and squeeze in a session on our last day before flying home. He will never have the opportunity to do this again because we will never again be able to afford to bring all of our kids and grandchildren to Florida.
This is overall the best ride in Disney in my mind. The attention to detail and overall complexity of the ride is outstanding, plus on busy days it isn't that long of a line and it is really relaxing :) (my favorite ride)
What looks like a kiddie ride
I really don't understand why this ride gets such a bad rap besides the fact that it replaced Alien Encounter. (I seriously don't get why AE was in Magic Kingdom in the first place). This show is hularious and a real thriller! 1ST PRESHOW: I really wasn't impressed with this part other than the fact that it prepared you for what was going to happen next. You hear Pleakley once or twice and the Grand Councilwoman is on a bunch of Tvs who thanks you for being "recruits". Gantu shows up, as well. Now, here's where the first complaint from people who hate this show comes in. "Why does Gantu say, 'At ease, recruits'?" This was released in 2004, Lilo and Stitch fans simply hate him by now. By saying, "At ease", the fans just aren't growling at him. Gantu makes a little remark and tells you to move to the next room, this is where the good stuff starts. 2ND PRESHOW: After not being so pleased with the first preshow, I didn't have much hope for what was coming until to my surprise, there was ANOTHER preshow. I saw S.I.R and Skippy from AE, so it was great to see them. Especially knowing that Skippy survived the 2nd preshow of AE (yay!). S.I.R is no longer red, but is simply a blue-violet color. And he is no longer S.I.R, he is 6584933018423489-90210. Well, pretty close to that. (First funny part of the show). 90210 is HULARIOUS! I'm telling you, I think I wouldn't even like the second preshow if it wasn't for him. Pretty soon, another prisioner is teleported into another "tube-y thing". He is the so-called "Donut Guy". The way they teleported him from animation to life was amazing! All the animatronics are animated very well! The second prisioner was supposed to be laid back, and that's how he was animated. Gantu soon comes up on the TV above 90210 and instructs everyone to move to the Level 3 Teleportation Chamber, as a level 3 prisioner is coming! 90210 faints during some very epic music, and we move on to the main show. MAIN SHOW: Okay, okay, even a guy who opens doors with his head knows who the "Level 3 Prisoner" is. Stitch. The preshows didn't look much different from Alien Encounter, so I was hoping for a change for the Main Show. But no such luck. It's the same circular theater, the same things that lock you into your chair, same teleporter, and same PAINT. After waiting for a minute and a half, you see two aliens who work for Gantu on the four Tvs around the theater. They do a little intro with Gantu, and lower your handlebars on your chair. Whup! Second complaint from this show's haters! "These handlebars hurt my shoulders!!!!" Okay, okay. That's the ONLY complaint I agree with. Even though the female alien suggests that when the handlebars touch your shoulders, they stop automatically. NO, THEY DON'T! In fact, when they touch your shoulders, they push down even MORE! Just do what I do. Sort of put your shoulders up a BIT higher, then, let the handlebars go down a little, then push up with your shoulders with everything you've got! Pretty soon, the handlebars will stop and even go up a little. Stitch is then teleported with the most epic intro ever made. Everyone, of course, lays one eye on Stitch and think of him as a cute puppy dog. Gantu wonders if this is a prank and goes to straighten everything out. Stitch plays around with cannons that switch themselves on. He then SPITS at the audience! The cannons shoot at the spit causing mayhem around the theater! He then shorts out the whole system, which gets rid of the power. Then with the most epic moment in HISTORY, Stitch exclaims, "Mega Nala CREESTA!!!" and everything goes black. Stitch is loose, and it is thrills from there. Wanna know what happens? Just go there yourself! I always catch myself sitting in the front row because I want to make sure Stitch spits on me! I would give this a 10, but the handlebars and another certain thing that Stitch does after swallowing a chili-dog puts it down one point, giving it a 9. Oh, what the heck. I love Stitch and this attraction so much, it's a perfect 10 for me! VERDICT: This is easily one of the best attractions in Walt Disney World! If you love Stitch, see it now! Oh and people on this site, QUIT COMPLAINING THAT AE IS GONE!! Alien Encounter is gone, move on, people! It's not coming back! Stitch's Great Escape. See it. Now.
This is probably the best ride in Epcot. You are suspended above the floor in a "Han-glider" type vehicle and are in front of a giant screen very similar to an i max screen. There are a few things that you must know before riding this though. Wait times average from 30 minutes to 1 hour, which is why you must get a fast pass for this right when you enter the park. I did it and only had an about 10 minute wait while the regular queue was about 70 minutes. You also should skip this one if you have even the smallest fear of heights. You really get the feeling that you are flying. Still, this is one of the most advanced rides I have ever been on and I look foward to it every time I visit Epcot.
This tour was not worth the money that we paid for it. They do not show you much of the backstage stuff as they did in the past.
This adventure is really fun and exciting! It brings a whole other dimension and storyline to the lands! Using and collecting the spells is really cool and it's always nice to keep a little magic with you at home! Trust me this is an adventure worth trying!
THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN CANCELED, NO WORK HAS BEEN DONE ON THIS SINCE LAST YEAR!!! SO SAD!
I have done this twice now and I will be going back for more in 2012. You get a great behind the scenes of the Living Seas and a awesome trip into the big tank. The best part may be playing with the children that are watching you. So much fun from both sides of the glass.
Hollywood Studios is my favorite of the parks at WDW. Tower of Terror and the Great Movie Ride will keep bringing me back!
This is close to being my favorite ride in WDW! I love it! I alos love the posts about being too scared lol! But seriously if you're scared of Dino's I would recomend skipping cause lets just say the next person in your seat won't be too happy! But I love it! Also, I was like thirteen the first time I went on and kept my eyes open the whole time. LOVE IT! Definatley a MUST DO!
Its very colorful and entertaining to "sea" all of your favourite finding Nemo characters! A fun, visually pleasing, and nice calm ride
Relaxing and great theme! Has a couple good laughs and overall a perfect fun adventure.
I love this trail and the aviary is amazing! You can see hippos underwater right outside the aviary exit it's so cool! Then you get to the gorilla exhibit!!! Man this is SO cool!
I sure wish this was a real working studio again. it was so fun back in the day to go and see a production in progress and the chance to be a walk on extra was always a possibility. There are fun rides and attractions but in order to call yourself studio it would be nice to actually be one again. Maybe just Disney's Hollywood Adventure is a better name for this park.
Catastrophe Canyon is cool but unfortunately the rest of the backlot tour is sad. Like much of Hollywood Studios the air of a movie studio is lost. The Back lot tour was pillaged years ago to make way for the stunt show when there is plenty of land out there to have built it without disturbing what was an interesting and fun attraction. now over half of the tour is riding around the very attraction that destroyed it. It really needs to be re-imagined.
This area could really be something special with some real imagination. When it first opened back in the day there were animators doing work on the latest films but like much of Hollywood Studios the real working studio aspect went away either overseas to cheap animators or to California where the bulk of their studios are. Florida incentives for film work here in the state are virtually non existent so that help push them out. Wish they could at least make it interesting rather than a one time walk-thru area.
I personally LOVE the ride! It's funny and just right for the Magic Kingdom setting! What's wrong with it being in tommorowland? I don't understand the "hate this" and hate that" At least try it people it's awesome in my opinion. Plus, it seems popular with tourists just not the disney fans! (because they're upset about alien encounter leaving yuck!)
I feel like this attraction is one of, if not the most important attraction on property. It's important that we all remember it's called Walt Disney World and remember the man who started it all. The exhibits are wonderfull and the movie was nice and will teach you a bit about Walt if you haven't really learned too much already.
I saw this, along with every other film shown in the World Showcase and this was the only one i disliked. I found it to be boring and it's not something i plan to see again.
Great ride, cool concept, and it's nice to know you might learn a little something. People should make an attempt to ride it. The only setback i could think of was the length of the ride, which i think could've been longer.
I saw this show for the first time on my recent trip because my girlfriend wanted to see it and i was surprised. I loved it; the movie was well put together and contains a message vital to a younger generation. I consider it something people shouldn't miss and i plan on watching it on every return trip.
Although i'd love to give this ride a 10/10 i can't. I feel like it could be so much more and when you compare it too the original it looks even worse. The ride isn't all bad though. It has a little charm and contains a wonderful Disney character who isn't known well enough. Figment is probably the only reason i give this ride a 9/10.
There is no doubt that Captain EO is dated and that you will have the occasional laugh when you see dude's rocking mullets. All that aside most should look past that, to enjoy and reflect back on one of the greatest musical legends of all time 'Michael Jackson'. I guarantee some foot tapping on your part when you watch this. The music is old school, and just so perfect. Disney did a great job also in restoring the original film, and adding some really cool special effects that were never before seen in the original attractions run. This is a must for all MJ fans.
I love this ride! From the opening preshow to waiting in the alley and riding the ride, it's awesome. I hope they add more rides like this in the future. No cons to this one!
I LOVE roller coasters and will go on just about any of them, so the thought of going on Mission Space didn't scare me at all. BUT...whoa. I hated this ride! I got so sick and felt disgusting the rest of my day at Epcot. I have to admit I was shocked that I felt this way. It's the only ride at WDW I won't go on. IF you don't like simulators or have even mild motion sickness DO NOT GO ON THIS RIDE! Otherwise, if you like them go for it, this is for you.
I liked this show - it's definitely not my favorite, not even close. But it's entertaining enough to keep your attention throughout. If you've never seen it, definitely check it out, but I don't think it's the kind of thing you need to do every time you go.
when i walked throught the entrance i had no idea what i was in for. the queue (which is all inside unlike in DL) had so much to look at. i only rode it after the refurb and the audio was put into the ride, but i thought all of it was awesome. the mini games on the queue before you get into the loading room was pretty cool. the 'window' above you in the loading room looking into space and a space station looks soo good. the ride itself... wow! the way they do the audio on the ride (many speakers throughout the ride track) i think works better for a spacey effect than that in DL (in ride audio) feels much faster than the 30 some mph the ride actually goes. i loved the ride, my parents loved it, my 6 year old nephew loved it. this ride is the reason i won't ever stop going to MK
this was one of the 'surprises' for my family and i on our trip to mk this summer. we noticed the great number of people lining up to see the parade and we were kinda tired so we decided to sit and see what it was all about. i saw the christmas parade in DL this past nov, but i was blown away by the electric parade. the colors and floats are dazzling. it made the parade cool for me again. i can't wait to see it again!
I cant stand it, the units are great dont get me wrong but the music has to go. I prefer Spectromagic by far.
it brought tears to my eyes!
it was so Christmasy!
They made us yell" We love you Logan" and they filmed it all before the show and then so help me Logan won. I liked the girl that sang, and everybody around me voted for her, but then Logan won. It didn't appear that our votes were counting. I think I saw Logan working the counter at Star Wars ride. (Just kidding) but I do think it was rigged, and for about the thousandth time it made me wonder if the whole of american idol is rigged also.
