The one-off special Welcome to Our World show by Walt Disney World Entertainment is by far the best firework show I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. In terms of sheer amount of pyro it was the biggest show ever put on at Walt Disney World, but it was much more than just sheer volume. The music, design, and presentation were second to none. The other special edition Walt Disney World shows are good, but this just towers over everything else. If only it were a regular event! Certainly a 10 out of 10 rating for this one, it just doesn't get any better.
We went this year to the Food and Wine Festival without knowing. It's a nice event and something interesting to do at Epcot, the booths from different cities/countries are interesting. Unfortunately we had no idea where the festival center was so we missed out on that portion but we at least got to see the Cities in Wonderland part. Epcot is a little bit more crowded during the festival.
As a fan of Halloween events such as Hollywood Horror Nights, I was surprised to find I liked this event a lot better. Unlike EMH where only select rides are open, almost all of the rides were open with a short line (the only thing we waited more than 5 minutes for was Astro Orbiter) and you get a TON of candy. Plus you get an exclusive parade and fireworks show. There is also a Villain Mix and Mingle and some Dance Parties. It's a great, fun event. My only complaint is that it didn't last long enough =) If you're visiting in September/October you should consider going.
We loved the Year of a Million Dreams theme. It was our first trip to Disney but it was so magical. We were chosen as Year of a Million Dreams family at Animal Kingdom. It was such a great feeling getting picked out . They do come up to you as your walking by and you don't expect it. I think Disney World would be magical no matter what theme they do, but there was something about walking into a theme park everyday and wondering if you would be picked for something special. It made it that much more exciting.
We went to the party last August and loved it. It was the highlight of our trip. Our 6 year daughter loved and our 1 yr old son had a great time too. We enjoyed the shorter lines, the parade and fireworks show. It was worth the extra money for us. I would recommend this to anyone who asked about it. I admit I had wondered if it would be worth the extra money and it was. I am so glad we got to enjoy this Disney experiance
its amazing becuase not only were we celebrating the millennium, but also to see how disney has really branched out and grew as time wewnt by, and its going to be around for a long time to come
its great to honor and celebrate the history of the park and remind us that if we have a dream, we should follow it
Epcot come to life with color... It makes visiting one of our favorite parks, even that much better. Disney's hard work and planning show! My husband and I are amazed with each special garden, and topiary that we come across. When the Flower and Garden festival is on, I feel like I cannot get enough of it. Each day we are here exploring and learning new things and getting ideas for when we go back home! The bonsai trees in Japan and China are amazing, as well as the fragrance gardens and outdoor patios to wonder through. Just when you think you've seen it all, you come across more. This festival is one that cannot be missed and one that we so appreciate.
I could never imagine a world with out disney. some of my favorite and happy memories are of disney world and going with friends and family. Walt Disney took a huge risk , and he succeed. he would be happy and proud to see the legacy that has formed from a small park in southern calilfornia(Anehim to be exact) to haveing one in orlando, paris, toyko, and hong kong. and the best part, that isn't it. countless other parks and resorts have sprung up, proving that disney is truely here to stay
great way to bring more attention to , and celebrate the man who started it, Mr. Walt Disney
i think it has been one of my fav. themes. disney world is a dream in itself. i think its fitting to call it a yoamd becuase it is spreding disney magic all over. for many people, they will cant get to disney world, and entering the contest disney is sponsering sends prizes to everyone, even those not present in the parks. its a great oppurtunity.
What can I say? I bought tickets for the event because I wanted to take advantage of the shorter lines and the different fireworks. After reading previous reviews, I was very sad to find out that we did not get a bag to put the "mardi gras beads in. I didn't bring a bag with me. We went to 2 treasure spots. We got a paper princess/pirate hat (Burger King Style). It got wet on SPlash Mountin. The secound thing we got was a candy bead necklace. MY 10 yr old DS did not get excited by that stuff. The CM's were fun - they were dancing and acting like thier ride was best so hop on! They remembered us when we rode rides again and again - but they wouldn't let us stay on - we had to go through the queue everytime even though no one was riding!!!! I guess I was dissappointed because the price of the ticket has gone up - but what Disney gave us went down.... Props to the CM's for trying to liven it up. Oh - and it was too dark to see anything. It was only my second time in the park and I didn't know where I was going. The Fireworks were awesome!!!!!
The 25th Celebration wasn't as big as more recent celebrations, but I will always remember the image of Cinderella Castle made into a pink frosted cake with the top spire as a candle. The cast members wore commemorative pins, there were limited edition souvenirs (as always), and a couple attractions that popped up that year were said to be in honor of the party. Very festive, very Disney.
On our first trip to WDW 2/07. After eight magical days of pure bliss touring all the parks and seeing everything like we were children (we're a couple in our 30's) We were sitting outside our resort (Coronado Springs) waiting for our Magical Express Bus to drag us to the Orlando airport. A wonderful woman invited us to enjoy a WDW Limo instead of taking the bus. We were given a Dream ride. What a wonderful way to end an amazing vacation.
great and fun, but i like halloween more. i like the christmas one bc everything is decorated....makes a magical christmas
i like how its not that scary, which is great for little kids. plenty of candy, great safe enviornment for trickertreating ... also you dont have to dress up if you want to, unless your a kid, which is moslty who are dressed up. i useually do if we go and its fun
We went to the Priate and Princess Party on Valentines Day February 14th, and it was just fabulous! The weather was cool and clear and the park was full of lots of priates and princesses. We got on and off the rides with no wait times, the games of chance were fun for my daughter when she didn't want to ride Space Mountain, The music was fun and everyone could dance. The only complaint was the treasure, after two trips thru getting jewels, my boys and my husband did not want to get trasure, my daughter and I did though and there were a number of duplications. Disney should rethink what they are doing with the treasure, make them different and not the same. But the expereince was great and we would definitely do it again!
Attended the P&P party Jan 29. Our Daughter 4 1/2 had the time of her life. She pent at least 5, maybe 10 minutes with each princess ! Even the photopass photographers were surprised at how much interaction the kids got from the princesses. It was easily the time of her life. All the rides were walk ons, even BTM. Fireworks were astounding, even when viewed from fantasyland. From the Circle they were even better. As we left the park near midnight, my wife and I said to each other "I would definatley do this again". Since there was another party during our stay, on Feb 2, We Did ! Again it was worth the price. Fewer adults were in costume for the Saturday party, but it was perhaps the best evening of our trip.
Ok. I'm very happy about this Celebration. This was my second vacation to Disney World and it was the best ever! First of all there were a bunch of banners all over the magic kingdom. And the Magic kingdom Stage Show was totally awesome. It was so exciting. Then when we went to epcot, I went to test track. After that I played with the toy cars in the gift shop. I got a Dream Certificate for playing with it. Thank god The celebration was extended.
Went to the Pirate & Princess Party on Saturday night. Before reading keep in mind: - I have an Annual Pass and head to the park often - I did not attend the P&P Party last year - I am trying to give us much detail, both good and bad, to hopefully to make this review as useful as possible. - I do not have any kids (yet). Plus - We arrived early around 5:30ish and were able to get into the park before the official 7pm start time. - The treasure bags we got at the entrance were very cute and I was glad to see they were not plastic. - All the lines as usual with the after hours parties were short - Much to my husband's dismay we waited on line to get pictures with all the Princesses and Capt Jack. I haven't been though the character greetings before so I don't know how it normally is but I was really impressed (once I got out of the long line; 40+ minutes) by the amount of time the Princesses ( especially Aurora, Snow White and Cinderella over in Toon Town) spent with the kids. They were not rushed at all (which probably attributed to the long line) and they were pros at dealing with the very excited little boy in line in front of us, who decided to give Cinderella a "jump hug". - Over in Ariel's grotto Ariel was spot on and made me feel like I stepped into the movie. - There were other picture spots, Cinderella's Coach (by Small World), a throne chair (to the right of the castle, on the walkway to Tomorrowland) and a dressing screen with what looked to be one of the wardrobes from Beauty & the Beast (between the entrance to Toontown and the Winnie the Pooh playground area) set up around the park but they were not listed on the map. Minus - The parade, which I was really looking forward to, was good but seemed really short. - The "treasures" as said before were Mardi Gras type beads and plastic jewels. The night we were there 8 of the 10 spots we could find were beads and some colors were repeated. I would think that they could have spent the time to find 12 different treasures to use. Even the kids that were on line with us got sick of the repeat beads. - Splash Mountain which is listed as one of the open rides on the map was still closed for refurbishment. I am assuming it was added to the map in hopes it will be open sometime before the end of the party. - As someone else mentioned the times guide, which list the time of the fireworks, parade and show at the castle were not included in the maps, or anywhere else in visible site that I could find. - We did not see the fireworks because we were waiting to see the Princesses when they began. Overall I think the party is a great idea for those looking to get into the park on a cheaper ticket (if your kids stay up that late without getting grumpy). Having already paid for an Annual Pass, I would have to say shelling out the extra $85 bucks wasn't really worth it. I think next year if I pay for any extra events it will be the Mickey Very Merry Christmas party (I went a few years ago and maybe it's the free hot chocolate and cookies and picture still on my mind, but I think that would have been more worth the money). Hope this helps anyone looking for more info on the event.
I must admit that I was a critic of this until I won, not one, but TWO Dreams! All the Dreams (yes, it is capitalized) are given out before 11 AM - yet another reason to go into the parks early. Second, if you really really really want a Dream, you have to go to the obscure attractions. The Disney folks are not gonna select a few people out of a huge crowd when everybody but the winners will short-changed. I have the toddler in my traveling party to thank. He dragged us on to Small World thirty minutes after we arrived in MK - a very dumb touring choice. At the exit we were given pin-trading lanyards with two pins each of $12 value! Also, you can trade those pins for very rare pins. That was nice, but our family's Dream was to get Dream FastPasses. The next day at AK we were dragged on to Pangani Forest Trek while we waited for our Kilimanjaro FastPasses. We - and a young French couple - got AK Dream FastPasses! (That was the day the guy died on Expedition Everest. We rode it only a hour before he did.) I would've preferred them at Epcot, but it was our last day and it got us on Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl twice in a row because we kept switching them around. THERE ARE LOTS OF PRIZES GIVEN DAILY. TO WIN, GET THERE EARLY AND RIDE MINOR ATTRACTIONS.
This part exceeded my every expectation! The only minor disappointment was the "treasure" isn't candy anymore, but I guess Disney is trying to be healthier. The parade and fireworks were fantastic. The $34 price tag is quite reasonable for this great experience.
Attended the party and had a blast! The treasure hunt is now just for beads plastic coins and "jewels", no more candy as was reported last year. The party is worth it just for the fireworks and parade alone. We bought our tix way in advance so we only paid like $34 a piece for them. AS far as the in park entertainment goes, we watched the "Rusty Cutlass" band and had a great time. My six y/o was picked out to be an honarary crew member.
I go against the popular view on this, and find the Christmas party to be my least favorite of the MK special events. In my opinion, the Halloween party offers so much more, and has more unique offerings. The Christmas parade is good, but you can see it during regular park hours. The firework show is good, but again you can see it during regular park hours (minus the perimeter effects). there are some unique meet and greets, and some good seasonal shows. You do get sugar cookies, apple juice and hot chocolate, but they become a bit tiresome after a few. There are no alternative flavors or any variety. Again, I think the Halloween party with the huge variety of trick or treat candy works better in terms of giveaways. Crowds can be fairly large, and the event often sells out, particularly close to Christmas. This means that queues can be fairly large for a special event, so dont expect to do lots and lots of rides.
